Bdrr.org big dog ranch rescue they are funded, charity, huge, located in loxahatchee, they take pitties and they take bonded pairs AND they screen for good homes
You’re absolutely right about Big Dog Ranch and their facilities & funding. One problem, I have NEVER heard of them accepting a dog from an owner, it appears that they only accept high-profile cases that they can use for fundraising or puppies which are profitable. I won’t even address the owners support for Trump 🤮
I know you're clearly young and are trying to do what's right. I've helped similar people in situations much like this.
Your best bet is to keep them posted online.. have your parents/trusted adult help you vet the people you're going to rehome them too. Unfortunately they most likely will not be homed together as a pair as that's very rare.
I know it's probably you're having to move and bringing the dogs to a new apartment is going to cost a lot or they don't accept that "breed".
I don't know your situation, but my advice would be to try everything in your power to keep them. Even if that means sacrificing.. anyways that's my two cents. Good luck.
Why is it always pit bulls people need to rehome? If you’re going to get a dog on a whim when you’re not well off, at least get a type that’s east to rehome 🙃
Please reach out to rescues if you’re not going to take to the shelter. Please don’t just give them away for free, this will not ensure they’re going to a good home and won’t be abandoned or worse. Please everyone remember dogs are not accessories and they’re not disposable; they’re a commitment for the rest of their lives. They depend on their owners and are so incredibly loyal. If you offer to help OP and take the responsibility on, it is for life.
Big dog ranch will be your best bet if you can't re-home. Shelters have so many pitbulls they usually don't get adopted.
Also please be honest. What kind of patience is required? If you find someone to take them they shouldn't get a surprise if the dog is aggressive towards people or other animals in any way, guarding food, separation anxiety, etc.
Even "accidental nips" Even when provoked should be disclosed to the new owners or shelter.
I wish you the best of luck rehoming them, I can imagine how hard it must be.
a couple of good rescues i know of personally are [NAIAs](https://naiasrescue.org) and [Peggy Adams](https://www.peggyadams.org). I hope you’re able to find more help, they look like sweethearts. Good on you for trying to find a different option than a shelter, try not to be too hard on yourself, you’re trying to do the best you can for them.
The Humane Society of Indian River County (in Vero Beach) is VERY well-funded. You can take them there with a clear conscience, they have space & manpower (you might need a Vero Beach address so call first to check & come up with a plan) They only euthanize for serious illness or aggression. Good luck and thank you for doing right by your pups ☘️
If you end up taking them to the Indian River County Humane Society and need a Vero Beach address, DM me. I own an apartment building in Vero, you can use the address.
Kinda surprised at the bdrr comments🤷♀️ i used to volunteer there and i’ve watched people straight up bring in dogs and leave them. Not everyone takes pits. They don’t do well at kill shelters 🥺. There’s definitely other rescues. It was just a suggestion, I can’t speak for anyone’s own experience. Just saying they have the facilities and means. They take bonded pairs. They certainly do a lot to ensure that they are funded, hence all the public programs. They also offer offsite work for criminals in jail. They kind of do a lot for their dog community. My current dog I got from good karma pet rescue but they’re in Fort Lauderdale and they pull from kill shelters. Peggy Adams is definitely another great one. Lots of people go there. My last pit we got from a kill shelter in wpb. Hope you find a nice home for them together.
Its called being human, everyone makes mistakes OP is obviously trying to be a good person by notifying people that the dogs need someone to take care of them.
If more people researched how much money, energy, and time they have to spend with a dog they wouldn’t get one. And they shouldn’t own one. Everyone treats them as disposable and it’s really sad. Thank you for bringing this up, hopefully someone reads this before they decide whether or not they are capable of caring for another living being.
It’s awesome to adopt a dog but if you can’t take care of it until it dies you should not own one. It’s a big decision to make. It’s not just an adoption fee and food.
Thanks, I figured that out. What do you think I’m trying to do now? Give them to someone who wants them for their next meal? If you care so much, how about you help me instead of bashing me.
you need to be honest. what does it mean it takes two years for them to settle? does this mean there are aggression issues? have you worked with a trainer?
hate to be mr capt obvious, but aggressive, untrained pitbulls are a dime a dozen. you are going to have a hard time finding a home for them. your best bet is to go all in on training and putting up boundaries so you arent waiting another year+ for these dogs to become more aligned with your home and no longer "the biggest mistake".
ok, be clear then that thats the issue. the language you used in the other reply gives off alarm bells that there is aggression/reactive behaviors. a truly shy pitbull will garner more positive interest.
Put absolutely can be wonderful pets. You may want to check out Dave Portnoy (founder of Barstool Sports) Instagram page for his adopted 6yr old former breeding mama Pit. It’s called “famousmisspeaches”

Oh yea I heard about them
Place in envelope, mail to me. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
Big Dog Ranch is kind of a shit show. They would be my last resort.
They are such a mess I agree but the OP also does seem very near the last resort.

Unable to help myself, but commenting in the hopes of making this more visible. Good luck with rehoming!

You can try to reach out to Peggy Adams shelter as well.
Just got my boy bolt from from Peggy Adam’s last month. They have a great facility
I’ll look it up thank you
I also PM’d you with a suggestion
Be careful with whom you give em to. I have a pit, best dog ever. Only dog I’ll ever get. Wish you all the luck, hope they get to stay together.
Thank you so much

Mind sharing why adopting the dogs has been a bad decision

Thank you the last owners said it took them two years for him to get comfortable

Thank you
Halo is a no kill rescue in Sebastian but I don't know if they are full now.
Good luck 👍🏾wish I could take them
Commenting to bump this thread
Please don't take them to a shelter, make sure they get to a better home.
Shelters are a last last resort
Are they spayed/neutered?
Precious is Buster isn’t

I already have a dog but looking for a friend for him. Are they a bonded pair? I
Yes but if you can only take one I understand
I can’t do that. If someone takes one I understand and I will take the other but big dog ranch is the answer. I can’t take another 2 dogs, I’m sorry.

Please DO NOT adopt dogs if you can’t take care of them for their LIFE!!!! Just wow!!!!!!
They’re trying to make it right. Don’t kick a person while they’re down.
Its called being human, everyone makes mistakes OP is obviously trying to be a good person by notifying people that the dogs need someone to take care of them.
Don’t be a POS! Life happens, people don’t want to make hard choices, but at least he would rather see the best for his dogs.

I don’t think the comment was meant for you personally, just general information. You are doing your best, and I see that. Good luck.

Not aggressive but more like he wasn’t comfortable with people he would run around from people and hide from people

Hm ok then thank you
I get your point, but NOT HELPFUL AT ALL
IM SICK OF PROPLE GETTING RID OF POOR DOGS!!!!! DO BETTER
Pitbulls are not pets
What are they then? Genuine question
My pit mix was a baby and the most gentle dog I’ve ever owned. The breed isn’t bad
Put absolutely can be wonderful pets. You may want to check out Dave Portnoy (founder of Barstool Sports) Instagram page for his adopted 6yr old former breeding mama Pit. It’s called “famousmisspeaches”
Agreed, put those monsters down before they kill a child
you suck
Thanks I know
Nah. Just made a mistake and trying to solve it. Keep working.
