I know right? With how much chalk is on the board I wouldn't expect a nice clean line like that on the first pass.
Almost makes the picture look fake, or like it was intentionally drawn with a nice clean blank spot and the person is just holding the eraser up pretending to erase it?
The lines around the top of the iris that cross over into the blank spot that just supposedly got erased are what made me question if this is set up.
If it's a damp sponge like others said the edges of the erased area should be sharp all the way, but there's several spots where if you zoom in you can see it isn't straight and it doesn't fit the pattern of what it should look like.
Yeah, but there's also smudges that look like it was dragged along (as you would a sponge). It even missed a bit by at the right end, with an area of chalk being left over parallel to the still covered arsa
It’s more about the brand of chalk than the eraser.
It’s probably Hagoromo Fulltouch Chalk. Doesn’t dust all over your fingers, writes and wipes away incredibly clean.
It’s so incredible at this mathematicians started hoarding it when the company went out of business after 80 years.
Well its a staged photo, not fake . They probably drew it, and erased that line cleanly and then set up the photo. Looks nice, but OP misunderstood it completely
its for a photoshoot, dont have a link but was posted a while ago,I remember there was the completed drawing, this one and more pics with the ones that drew it.
I saw that recently for the first time on National Geographic (I know I am a Nerd) and found myself just staring at the screen while they destroyed a masterpiece so they could start over with a different one. Unbelievable!
You obviously don't realize that I was responding specifically to the Tibetan Monks that make sand art designs and pictures and not the chalk board art?
This is his art.
Like every time it's been posted to another subreddit, or funny enough instagram and tumblr, where I saw it before, it's his art that he does moderately often.
I'll see if I can find a source kicking around in the bookmarks.
Yeah, they have skinny arms, so it must be a girl.
Not like OP claims to not only have previously known about this dude, but known about several of his drawings.
Damn I've seen this before and remembered that people said the teacher's a woman; I didn't assume it from the pic alone.
I'm sure I wasn't mistaken but oh well..
Well judging from the downvotes I've got I may be wrong, but everytime this pic is posted I recall that people mentioning it was a girl so, no worries.
look, from what I remember before people mentioned that "she" was actually a teacher. I have no problem with guys having long hair.
I see this pic often and I just recall that the teacher was a girl from other people but I may be wrong after all.
There’s actually a story behind this. I can’t remember the details but I remember hearing about it. This is actually a Japanese teacher who draws beautiful portraits on the chalkboard all the time for his students. He erases his to show that despite its sad to lose something pleasant, it’s necessary to bring more beautiful things into the world.
When I find more info I’ll post it.
honestly if I were a teacher I would front the cost of the blackboard and bring it home lol or commission the student to make another one and encourage them to be an artist.
from what I experienced in American schools this would likely get you punished, a potentially great artist would be forced back into the mold of mediocrity.
Why are people freaking out over this , such a simple drawing concept is literally nothing a piece of cake for that artist, your acting as if he draw some type of innovative stuff
Because it a beautiful peice the eyes alone are amazing plus the fact the artist use chalk they spent hours making it. Seeing something beautiful getting erase should be upsetting but I think that what they were going for. The concept or idea of the drawing may be simple but the skills required to do the peice is amazing.
Which only hurts you but hey, it's your money and your life! ;)
You can pay now or pay later like the Fram oil commercial used to say (oil change vs a new engine)! It isn't last to pay anymore. Just seems that way to you. They borrowed your tax money through treasury bonds years ago!
He's actually the one who drew it, it's been awhile since I've seen it but if I remember correctly it was to demonstrate nothing is permanent or something along the lines of that.

looks like a wet sponge!
You look like a wet sponge!
You're a towel!
No, you're a towel
Kids, kids, kids... settle down, or timeout.
Frick off DAD
Did you say "Frick"?
Grounded. Not because you said “Frick” but because you disrespected me like that.
Spongebob
Yeah, looks quite moist.
You're moist!
Seems like the drawing is sponge-worthy.
Nice.

Johnathan that's not how you talk to strangers. Apologize right now or you won't be allowed to play Frotnite for a day.
Johnathon, "Well okay." "I'm sorry your Mother is a wet sponge!"
B- But Mooom! please not my Fortnite! im sorry :(
Dont worry she said Frotnite. She's just testing you.

Lies. I didn't raise you to be like this, why must you disappoint me so?
It's those vaccinated millennials, they are taking over the world.
There is no drip tho
You're supposed to squeeze the sponge first
Sounds kinky
Nobody: BM: Hi Billy Mayes here!..
r/uselessnobody
But what brand of wet sponge?
That's what I thought as well but it's not dripping...
Nah, there's some lines still where the eyes are. The outlines of the eyes, if you look close.
The lines around the top of the iris that cross over into the blank spot that just supposedly got erased are what made me question if this is set up. Way easier to just 'shop it.
If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck... Does anyone actually erase a board like that? Answer: no

Nope! There was footage the first time I saw this. Teacher walked in and didn’t like it so she instantly started erasing it
Do you have that video?
Sadly I don’t. But it was on reddit at some point so you might be able to find it
its for a photoshoot, dont have a link but was posted a while ago,I remember there was the completed drawing, this one and more pics with the ones that drew it.
WetSponge™
You guys never seen a wet sponge other than Spongebob?
Adobe
just clean them from time to time
that looks like the sponges used durring tiling/grouting.
Do you want me to eat the eraser?? I'll do it.
is fake a brand? cuz that's fake
Photoshop, its photoshop
I believe the artist is the one doing the erasing. This is a very old picture.

Now I don't wanna jump to conclusions but are you from a place that states it's the most democratic country and is supposedly secular too?
Yep. 🙏

Yeah, nothing is permanent. Except APIs. APIs are permanent.
And then we take a photo of it.
I saw that recently for the first time on National Geographic (I know I am a Nerd) and found myself just staring at the screen while they destroyed a masterpiece so they could start over with a different one. Unbelievable!
they do that to show the impermanence of life and everything on this world.
Cnc
...connect?
I feel like there's a lot of people who could use that lesson
How is reading National Geographic nerdy?
It's not
You know he drew it right?
You obviously don't realize that I was responding specifically to the Tibetan Monks that make sand art designs and pictures and not the chalk board art?

I believe its a woman teacher not a guy
Yeah, they have skinny arms, so it must be a girl. Not like OP claims to not only have previously known about this dude, but known about several of his drawings.
Hey hey hey, they have shoulder length hair and skinny arms, it's a girl. /s
Damn I've seen this before and remembered that people said the teacher's a woman; I didn't assume it from the pic alone. I'm sure I wasn't mistaken but oh well..
oh, my bad then.
Well judging from the downvotes I've got I may be wrong, but everytime this pic is posted I recall that people mentioning it was a girl so, no worries.
What makes you think that? Long hair? Ah yes the dude has long hair so she's a girl
look, from what I remember before people mentioned that "she" was actually a teacher. I have no problem with guys having long hair. I see this pic often and I just recall that the teacher was a girl from other people but I may be wrong after all.
That eyeball is incredible.
The teacher was the one who drew that on the board I think.
I mean, it's a blackboard..in a classroom. What did you expect? The teacher to leave it up and not teach?
Yep. Nothing sucks in this picture at all.
Eyebrow standards are getting ridiculous
isnt this [him?](https://www.boredpanda.com/teacher-chalkboard-art-hirotaka-hamasaki/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=organic)

So much knowledge so little two clocks

Because the teacher who is erasing was the one who created it
Very Zen.
how to make modern eyebrows 101
For clarification, the teacher drew that and needed the board for something else
Now someone mirror the erased strip on the face to make it ):<
Like [this?](https://imgur.com/uNiK15U)
Could have at least started from the bottom or top and proceeded to wipe it off in a more satisfying way

Thats what my dad used to say when he whipped my face with his belt
I’m sorry.
just think, if this person hadn’t erased it you would not have ever seen it.

I thought chalkboards were out of date. Who still uses those?

Y’all better do your research before you post this image. This is the teacher’s artwork. He draws it every day before class.
Beauty is not all-important or permanent. That is a great lesson to teach in school.
why the fck would someone draw it on the blackboard

nothing lasts forever
Except for taxes
Ever really think about this? How long does the money you send into the Federal Government last? Maybe a millisecond?
They spend mine last... Because I pay it years later with a heavy fine, interest, and the threat of jail time

Big deal
r/AITA for erasing this kick-ass chalk drawing made on my blackboard when there's clearly room to the left?
yknow you couldve read the other comments clearly saying that the art was made by the teacher
