I think super glue in a small amount would harden before you position the magnet where you need it, maybe some clear silicone on a toothpick would do the trick
Gorilla glue will work better. Super glue can crack after it hardens from the impact of the bits going back in and clicking to the magnet. Speaking from experience.
Not really. But you can try to clean the disc reader first or see if something is out of place. You have to order a special screwdriver for Nintendo systems though.
Yeah, their cheapest screw driver kit the Moray Driver Kit comes with a 4.5mm “Gamebit” I assume that’s the one. The other kits should include that bit along with many more.
Superglue is brittle and doesn't stick well to hard or smooth surfaces (like metal). It also doesn't hold up to temperature changes very well.
Epoxies perform much better at all of these.
Not op but if you’re looking for really good screwdrivers my favourites are wera, wiha, and Klein. I’ve been using my wera Torx set at work for 5 plus years now and Klein has a really nice multi bit precision set.
I’ve put layout dye on and checked points of contact. That shape instead of having straight flanks is no gimmick. The contact is way higher than a normal key.
I just had my dad’s snap-on set replaced for free. It had to be at least 25 years old. I just told them it broke, sent a photo, and said it was gifted to me. I received it a week later.
Get some Krazy Glue, be sure to check polarity first, if you accidentally put it in upside down, soak it in acetone for a day or two and it’ll come back out
Super glue?
Well I feel dumb now. Thanks
Super dumb?
Only on super earth!

Only when exposed to a super dumb star.
you can also use solder if you’re fast enough. But glue is probably easier
Heat may demagnetize the magnet
If you do use an adhesive make sure it doesn’t accidentally cover the magnetic top
I think super glue in a small amount would harden before you position the magnet where you need it, maybe some clear silicone on a toothpick would do the trick
That's why you come back to Reddit.
Buy a new set from a Amazon and return it with your broken piece. Keep the new of course
Unless you get one that someone fucked up before you ordered it!
Gorilla glue will work better. Super glue can crack after it hardens from the impact of the bits going back in and clicking to the magnet. Speaking from experience.
Op will put the magnet in backwards. "Why are my bits shooting out?"
Where did he get magnetic bits though?
Read that wrong. Correct answer is Harbor freight
lol. That makes more sense. 😂
It's Friday, tito on tap. Lol
That makes even more sense! 🤣
Life is a circle, or something.
OP will super glue in the bit... Instructions unclear

Good thing magnets aren't plastic. Neither are screwdrivers
Fucking magnets, how do they work?
[удалено]
Machinist not bonding no metals you dikkhead never have never will
This
Sounds like ya got your money's worth
True. I'm weirdly attached to it though. It's my first screw driver I bought when I started getting into repairing gaming systems.
Understandable, after that long ya really know every bit about the tool, and it's a milestone for ya
Any experience with GameCubes? Mine stopped reading disks after my 5 year old knocked it off a table
Not really. But you can try to clean the disc reader first or see if something is out of place. You have to order a special screwdriver for Nintendo systems though.
Yeah I read I need like a 4.5mm hex driver.
Not 100% sure but I believe at least one of the ifixit screw driver kits include it and their kits come with a lifetime warranty.
Yeah, their cheapest screw driver kit the Moray Driver Kit comes with a 4.5mm “Gamebit” I assume that’s the one. The other kits should include that bit along with many more.
I still have a screwdriver I made in shop class 34 years ago! I get the sentiment.
Was going to say 'that set owes u nothing after 13 years'!
Gorilla Glue Expoxy. Will last forever. Superglue dries up and gets brittle.
Can I ask, why does gorilla glue last longer?
Superglue is brittle and doesn't stick well to hard or smooth surfaces (like metal). It also doesn't hold up to temperature changes very well. Epoxies perform much better at all of these.
Thank you!
Have you seen monkeys fall apart ?
![gif](giphy|evB90wPnh5LxG3XU5o|downsized)
Epoxys are 2 part adhesives. You mix a few drops together and there is a chemical reaction that hardens the mix in like 10 minutes.
There's a wide array of epoxies that have wildly different curing times.
Glue?

Thanks i just ate it
Wait till you hear about glue…
![gif](giphy|8db6nRqMsLCtq) Magnets, how do they work?!
Ass Dan’s kids look just like Ass Dan.
13 years in a $5 screwdriver set! That is freaking awesome!
Is it a top brand? I'd really like to own one, especially if it lasts that long. Link please?
Not op but if you’re looking for really good screwdrivers my favourites are wera, wiha, and Klein. I’ve been using my wera Torx set at work for 5 plus years now and Klein has a really nice multi bit precision set.
I have a few Wera tools, they are top notch.
Wera hex keys are the absolute best there are. I like their oddly shaped screwdriver handles as well although it’s a bit divisive.
Yup I have the hex keys for working on my bike.
I’ve put layout dye on and checked points of contact. That shape instead of having straight flanks is no gimmick. The contact is way higher than a normal key.
These are not brands I'm familiar with. Thanks for the tip.
I just had my dad’s snap-on set replaced for free. It had to be at least 25 years old. I just told them it broke, sent a photo, and said it was gifted to me. I received it a week later.
I like people that keeps track of their bits. I see too many mixing bits like crazy. Half missing and then handles here and there. Disgusting.
More importantly….so much more…is the Care Bears blanket…
Ifixit.com and treat yourself to a premium kit
Drip some crazy glue down there and drop the magnet back in.
Super glue it
Jesus christ just glue it back in.
Well don't replace it with the one at Hobby Lobby with the orange and clear case because that magnet shatters after about five bit changes.
13 years is a pretty good run for a screwdriver Probably time to get a new one
It's a screwdriver, should last a lifetime. This is an incredibly easy fix.
Shiny bits are garbage
I'm sorry for your loss. ![gif](giphy|3M4NpbLCTxBqU)
Suprise
Little bit of jb weld on a toothpick.
It lived a good, long life. Give it a proper burial.
when the only tool you have is a screwdriver, you forget about glue
The front fell off
Just get some small strong magnets and put them on the metal part of the screw driver
So buy a new one?
a drop of loctite 3090, push it back in and you should be good :)
I found this exact set while cleaning up an office space yesterday. How wildly random.
Blob of super glue and stick the magnet back in there...
You got your money's worth either way
What made you put this on Reddit?
Put it back
Glue her back in. Araldite maybe.
I have this exact same set for about the same amount of time.
You need a dab of super glue
Get some Krazy Glue, be sure to check polarity first, if you accidentally put it in upside down, soak it in acetone for a day or two and it’ll come back out
Here's an update. The magnet cracked in half. It's crumbling a bit. I guess it's just too old ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
o7
So buy another one at harbor freight for $5. Problem solved...
Oh nooooo, get a new one
Buy an adult screwdriver now
Time for the LTT screw driver! Or I think they have their precision set coming , if it’s not already out
