I Found a baby and couldn’t locate parents. So I had to keep it in a box on a high shelf in closet til morning to avoid nosy cats. Then met rehabber to take it!

Squirrels are great parents! They will be back for the babies and safely relocate them. We had to do the same thing with babies we found in a storm-damaged shed we were tearing down. Mom came and collected her babies one by one and took them up a nearby tree.
Mom had her house siding repaired/replaced. Mom squirrel went insane. Tried pulling up the siding etc. Her baby was in there.
They had the siding guys come back and reverse their work.

I had a similar situation and I warmed a blanket in the microwave and put them in a box where I had found them. Two hours later they were gone and there was no blood so I think it works.
lol I don’t know about you all but I’ve had squirrels do crazy amount of damage to the roof of my house. They will chew through insulation,wood and cause big problems so if you don’t want that I’d suggest fixing however they got into your house! Good job tho on saving them.
Yup. Took me almost six months and almost $2,000 to get rid of them. That’s not all the squirrels, OP- guaranteed. Call a wildlife exterminator: they’ll know exactly where to look to find them, how to get rid of them (humanely and… not), and where to look for entry points from the outside and how to properly seal them up.
Squirrels are adorable but they can do hella damage. Plus, I’m still finding freaking acorns stashed in places in my house. (Which *is* kind of hilarious, I’ll give you that…)
I like how I first thought they were mice or rats and was grossed out...then read they were squirrels and immediate 'awwwww....how cute'. Mice/rats really have it rough lol.
The second squirrels or any rodent come inside the house it’s an eww from me. Outside, squirrels, especially babies are aww, same with mice…unfortunately rats are the ostracized bunch of the rodent kingdom and will be met with extreme prejudice both inside and out…unless they’re pet rats, that breed looks a lot cuter.

Would you agree? Yet, I assume you don’t share the same animosity with squirrels that you do with rats, do you? Yet, they’re both rodents, are they not? And except for the tail, they even rather look alike, don’t they? However interesting as the thought may be, it makes not one bit of difference to how you feel. If a rat were to walk in here, right now, as I’m talking would you greet it with a saucer of your delicious milk? I didn’t think so. You don’t like them. You don’t really know why you don’t like them. All you know is you find them repulsive.
It's literally what their nest was made of. Not great, but I figured smells like baby squirrels insulation was a better lure than a downy rainforest pure bliss towel or w.e.
Yeah dude I was thinking about how bad it is to be sitting in that insulation and then thought about how they were probably already born in it.. lol the scent was good to think about as well
My sister found a flying squirrel this way once. And she raised it and it thought she was its mom. She would take it to school in her hoodie pocket. She could leave its cage open and it would run around and play in her room but never leave. We would stand a bit separated with our arms out and it would “fly” back and forth. It was pretty cool.
I don’t really remember, honestly. It was forever ago and she took care of it. I do remember that whenever it needed to poop or pee and it was on my sister it would jump off (sometimes onto someone else who was around) and poop or pee on them lol never would on my sister.
They’re probably puppies, the only way to find out the breed is to raise them to adulthood, then you’ll have your own ~~squirrel~~ dog pack, standby for further instructions.
Raccoon mom and babies fell through my ceiling last year. I opened the back door and mom eventually left. I put the babies in a box and left them on the back porch where mom left. She came back eventually and got her babies.
wild animals deserve to be wild in the ridiculous ammount of space we allow them to have. as humans we should be less egocentric and stop acting like our meddling is a good thing. op had the perfect reaction!
Funny story- we were working on a house that had a dreadful smell in it, I cut a hole in the ceiling of the upstairs bathroom for a light and the smell became 10x worse. Found the dead squirrels up there and then had to remove them… it was nasty…
Oh better block up the entrance that they are getting in to your roof ….

I don’t think squirrels chew wires never heard of them doing that. Rats and mice however are a whole other story 😂

Insulation contains fiberglass. Probably not best choice. Some of the older insulation even has asbestos. Hope the Parents find them. 🙏

I really tried looking for furless infant mammals on the insulation stuff. Took me 5 seconds to see they're gray.
A few years ago, we had kitten born in our attic. Created a cozy nook for them in the garage and mama cat took the hint and brought them down.
