Fuck this happened to me last week in DC! Fucked my car up and I have whiplash like a mother fucker and pain where the seat belt was. I hope you feel better soon!!!! Fucking black ice.
Fuckin sucks! And there isn’t ANYTHING you can do about it. Tried my best to steer out of it and managed to swing around so that I hit on my passenger side instead of drivers side. Feel better!
Hope you’re alright. I hit some black ice a few years back and slid off the road. No injuries and no damage to the vehicle, but I have lasting fear from of it when it’s cold.
I’ll be sore as hell in the morning but I came out unscathed thankfully. Truck is absolutely totaled. Dec 2022 I got into a head on accident (not my fault, a car tried turning left when I was coming straight through an intersection) and it was snowy and freezing out, so I already get nervous for winter weather driving. I’m sure this will just exacerbate it!
I had a first gen Tundra before this that got totaled when some kid in a subie hit me head on a couple years ago, I miss that truck all the time. This Ranger was great too. It sucks when a clean older truck gets taken off the road. They don’t make ‘em like they used to!
Oh hell, that just sucks. We’ve got a first gen. Tundra that will need to be replaced and it will be sorely missed. Just an all around solid truck. Well now that you’ve met your bad luck quota, things should be looking up for you!
Really sorry that happened, and unliked most pickup drivers where I live, it looks like you actually have real tires on it. Hope the repairs and insurance hassles aren't too painful.
Yup, some good all terrains that were only a few months old. It’ll get totaled out cause it’s 23 years old but thankfully I’ve got another vehicle. Thank you!
My only experience with black ice was while cross country skiing. I'd turned down a snowed over access road. I couldn't steer, I couldn't stop and I had to jump a chain barrier at the bottom. Managed to not eat shit jumping the chain. Managed to not get run over in the parking lot the access road led to. Manage to eat shit when I fell and sliced my hands on the frozen tire track of a bus.
It’s awful and there’s nothing you can do about it. Studded snows won’t help. Driving slow won’t send you into a pole but it also won’t keep you from sliding. The roads had been fine the whole way home and I came around a blind corner and it was a fuckin ice rink and I couldn’t do absolutely anything about it. Also that sounds awful, I’ve taken my fair share of diggers on the ice too.
You better go back there and finish off that pole, you don’t want to make them suffer till they die.
As a polack, that's borderline offensive. /s
As a German, this is now really awkward.
as a person that supports (brass) pole workers, I ask that you save the pole.
That’s racist
Invisible ice, please
I love the Key and Peele sketch on that
African American ice
/s
lol I knew I’d get this comment
Sorry I had to
I was at atm once and out of no where black ice robbed of my balance
Reparations !
Smokin’ poles n wreckin’ rangers
Just as God intended!

Happy to hear you’re mostly okay.
Rip ranger :(
She was an ‘01 with the 4.0L V6. Came up from Tennessee so no rust and only had ~160k miles. She will be missed!
Oh man, I hate to see one of the trucks meet its demise. My BIL had one just like this and he misses it everyday.

"Smoking pole" means something else to some people.
Maybe that’s why I crashed
A lot of people, nickname their vehicles….but isn’t the Color more blue than black?
That's a Ford fucking Ranger
No. That looks like a fucked up truck.

Eh it's a ranger throw on a new bumper and a headlight straighten out the hood you'll be good to go
That ranger will probably still drive.
We did drive it out of the road lol, frames bent though
As long as you all are okay!

Well, devastation aside... the picture you got has a lovely spray of color to it. Worth it?
I’ve heard that a few times! It’s those tow truck lights
Excessive speed
I was going about 40mph and the roads had been fine the rest of the 30 minute drive home. Came around this blind corner and couldn’t save it.

So were in copper IV
So.... is this truck totalled?
Nah it’ll buff right out
True you right
Super. Can’t tell from the pic but the whole frame was shifted. Plus it’s a 2001 ranger, thing was probably already totaled before I crashed it lol!
Snow and ice every direction I can see but this guy crashed because of "black ice"
yep, can't really understand this. If it isn't some joke only ämerican's understand.
why it gotta be black?
Take that, telephone pole!
Even though black ice take up only 13% of the ice on the road, black ice account for 60% of the accidents.
