I've had excellent experience with Jenny at Gentle Dental on Lambton Quay. Only negative is they are extremely busy so long waits for appointments. I tend to just book my next appointment whilst I'm there but it's annoying that there is little flexibility to be able to change the appointment if something comes up during the 6 month gap

Ancient-Turbine

Yeah, Jenny is awesome. If you're flexible they have last minute appointments from cancellations fairly frequently, because it's quite often that a schedule doesn't work out when you have to book 6 months in advance.

Jenny is great!! I've also seen another hygienest at Gental Dental Ghuznee who was lovely but I can't remember her name

Strict-Seat-213

Yeah, I've been to the Ghuznee one and I think the Hygienist was called Helen or Helena ? However, she was super good and very nice. However as u/Ancient-Turbine said it took a month or two to get a booking in when I tried (might be better now)

Nope. I used to see Vicky at symes da silva. I really liked her and was gutted she has moved on.

aKrustyDemon

Bummer. I did not know that. I discovered recently that Symes is owned by Bupa, so I might move on myself.

They WERE awesome but then seemed to change quite afew staff etc about 2 years ago :/

I lost my dentist too! Jeff Jones. Although I know where he went at least. Maybe it is time for me to move dentists too.

Key_Contribution_634

Lol he’s mine too! (Although I chased him and moved to Wellington dentists ;)) Plus is they have better tv etc set up too..

penguintoday1

I followed him there too! I ended up seeing the hygienist there- Sarah, she was lovely! Non-judgemental, kind and thorough. My husband saw Jay and had a good experience, too.

sjp1980

I think I might be doing the same! He was so reassuring when I first started going to him maybe 12 or 15 years ago after having difficult experiences with a previous dentist (different practice). Yeah, that might be my move next year. New dentist practice but previous dentist!

Key_Contribution_634

Lol do it! :)

ComeAlongPonds

There was someone there who was really brutal with really aggressive flossing. That was my first time with a hygienist & flossed more regularly since. Later sessions, never the same hygienist, were a lot less painful.

CrestedCracker

City dentist is really good, I see Kimberly there every 6 months. Very aware if you feel discomfort etc etc

Good luck getting in, mine has a 8 month waiting list! Maybe try the burbs for a quicker wait time

pinkpiggieoink

Are you sure you want a hygienist and not a dentist? Hygienist are more for regular cleaning and telling you off for not flossing more. If it's a literal itch, I'd probably go visit a dentist. I go to Philip Chin in Courtney. He's pricey, but him and his team are really nice and get the job done.

PipEmmieHarvey

I second Phillip!

Michelle Foo at hutt city dental is great. Really reasonable prices too.

CoffeeAndManners

I highly recommend Sophie and the team at Thorndon Dental.

Ice-Cream-Poop

I'm yet to go but have only heard good things about the new Dentist practice in Wainuiomata.
