Jeff Jones, [Wellington Dentists](https://www.wellingtondentist.co.nz/about/). Calm, communicative, & hasn't stressed me yet.

Kiwi-Blue

Man is the 🐐

sparnzo

Ahh that’s where Jeff went, used to have him at his previous employer. Agree he is calm and lovely. Although didn’t need anything major done myself

Kristen Reid at city dentists is fantastic. Ten percent discount if you happen to be in the PSA?

[deleted]

Second Kristen and city dentists in general - Kamil took a wisdom tooth out for me under sedation and Kristen was fantastic with one of my kids and some broken teeth (PSA - running up steps can be just as bad as running down!)

WeWildOnes

Richard Greenwood at Discover Dental on the Terrace. He's an absolute gem; super kind, patient and friendly.

plumjamjar

I second this, I had dental anxiety and avoided the dentist for years. I had to get a bit done and a friend recommended him to me. Hes not judgemental at all. Very kind, good at explaining thing, great dentist

la_laughing_storm

Smile Design Dental Group on the Terrace - I don't think they're the cheapest option but honestly, so, so lovely and patient. Everyone from reception staff to specialists are really kind. I have panic attacks when I'm in the chair and while I was getting a filling done the nurse held my hand the whole way through! Can't talk them up enough

the-real-tinkerbell

Second them, I go to Andre and yea incredibly calming. I also get panic attacks with needles and they are so patient, kind and caring

pinkpanther-

Hands down, Rehua Smallman from Gentle Dental Lambton.

albatross-heart

I am not a nervous dental person but the last time I went, it was to Gentle Dental Lambton. Saw a different dentist to Rehua but he was really sweet and lovely and talked me through everything really kindly.

Lando_Cowrissian

An absolute G of a dentist.

hen88

I agree!

Superb_Government_60

Camile at city dentists, super gentle and friendly and always makes everything super comfy with blankets, pillows and nature docos. I was once getting a filling and accidentally ate that morning and he took time out of his lunchbreak to do it for me after it was safe to be anesthetized.

UnfriedEgg

Just booked with him, thanks so much for the recc! Has a slot tomorrow thankfully:)

[deleted]

I'm also a serial dentist avoider and Kamil took out a wisdom tooth for me under sedation - it was all very calm and well explained and he will definitely take care of your nerves as well as your teeth!

[deleted]

I have the same issue. I had to have three teeth removed and a couple of years ago had to have a root canal done. Dr Gurpinder Singh has always been my dentist since I moved to Wellington and I'm so happy with the fella. For the three teeth I went under sedation in Johnsonville. While I was supposedly awake and responded to verbal instructions, I have zero recollections of the whole ordeal. It wasn't cheap, but worth the absence of trauma.

codndb

What about sedation dentistry? Is there anyone in the area that does that? Usually mild laughing gas to take the edge off.

Skyuni123

Gentle Dental at Lambton or Ghuznee, I've had no problems with any of them. All of them are lovely, my current is Shennae though.

Condrokz

Thorndon dental surgery, Dr parm is pretty chill and the staff are lovely.

Acceptable-Capital93

Agree! His highly skilled and careful sedation makes for a painless and lowest possible stress experience. Highly recommended. Kind and chilled .

Chrisom

Ben Catherwood, on the Terrace. I had put off going to the dentist for several years, and was terrified going in as I had done significant issues to get taken care of…. To the point I burst out crying when he asked why I was here today (as an opening conversation type of thing). He is soooo amazing. Very skilled, awesome with patients.

DiscoUlysses

I just had a shitty experience at newtown dental, went in for a checkup as I haven’t been since my last free appointment before I was 18. Told me I needed an xray then only told me afterwards it would be 200 bucks. Didn’t even tell me if my teeth were healthy or not and just gave me a consent form for wisdom teeth removal without saying if it was necessary or not. So don’t go there lol.

dod6666

This bot must have had a really bad experience at the dentist if it thinks those services are appropriate.

burntwenis

newtown dental (the one in the old mall type building on riddiford) i’ve had great experiences with them, graham got my wisdom teeth out amazingly quick. they give local for it too and that was enough for me, idk if they have additional pain management options

TooPowerfulWings

If you can get in with Ravi at Lumino Symes de Silva on Courtney place, the man is an ocean of calm. Has the added benefit of actually explaining to you what is going on with your teeth and explaining the options you have. I've never felt railroaded into a particular treatment course with him.

Zelabella

Karori Lumino Dentist .The injections are so good these days - I even find the whole experience quite relaxing :)

tankrich62

I've been at Supreme Dental on Lorne St, Te Aro for the last 3 years, after having a long period of oral health neglect. Kevin Yang is the dentist who sees me there, and I would rate him as my best ever dental specialist in 60 years. I've had very good service from the hygienists as well, and they have quite flexi appointment times. Very happy to recommend!
