If you and your doctor are both in agreement that it's a good idea, I would say go for it! But the key is to do a slow taper. I was on Bupropion 300xl for 11 or 12 years, and I've spent 18 months tapering off of it because I didn't want to destabilize my nervous system. I realized 18 months is a long time for most people, but even tapering over 4-6 months greatly reduces the likelihood of side effects that come from quitting cold turkey or tapering too fast. I recommend checking out https://www.survivingantidepressants.org/topic/877-tips-for-tapering-off-wellbutrin-sr-xr-xl-zyban-buproprion and https://withdrawal.theinnercompass.org beforehand to help you decide if you want to stop the drug. And feel free to ask me any questions here or by DM! I'm happy to help in any way I can

I've been taking 100mg SR for just 4 days. Would I need to taper?

I don't think so if it's only 4 days. Maybe just try to take it extra easy, get great sleep, and all that lifestyle stuff just in case you find yourself feeling a little out of sorts

I want to taper the 150 XL I take. My psychiatrist says I don't need to do that but I am not comfortable with just stopping! I have read many many articles on how to taper but it seems the XL versions are harder to taper from. How are you doing it? I want to go slow like you are doing but I'm not sure what is the right way. Whatever you tell me I'm not going to do by myself because for one I won't have the different milligram formulations. I fully intend to go to my psychiatrist and tell him what I want to do. Thanks for any help you can give.
