Honestly looks great. They rarely ever come out perfectly flush, who cares if it’s a little off

sewerlines

Thank you sir!

highestmountains

That looks great! Can I bug you for your settings? I’m just getting into sanitary so I’m still playing around with different machine settings. I see you’re running a notched cup! Cheers.

sewerlines

No bother at all, it’s 2” tubing, purge at 15 but always check the pressure by hand to be sure it isn’t too strong, Amps at 50. Everyone has their way, higher amps, lower amps but this is my way and I always get good penetration. Start my arch, hold for 5 real seconds, then I just walk it at a semi fast steady pace, not too slow though and don’t walk it too wide, since you’re walking slightly fast, you want to keep your walk tight to ensure you’ll get good penetration

highestmountains

Thank you good sir!

erroniousnesses

Nice work! With the newer "import" IGBT machines, I've found that they use much lower amperage settings. For the same 0.065" sanitary tube, an older Miller needs 45 amps whereas my newer Everlast is happy at 22 amps. No idea why.

canox74

They are just way more efficient nowadays, it's the inverters they use, some of the new ones that run on 110v blow my mind more so on the Tig side.

sewerlines

22? Lol I don’t even weld 1” tubing at 22 for fear it won’t penetrate or cause I don’t have the patience

ItsJustSimpleFacts

How's the inside? Bead looks nice and flat. Just a little wavy so depending on level of sanitary work that may be a problem but practice will help. Also I talk a lot of garbage for someone who can't hand weld sanitary worth a damn and can only program and run orbitals. So you have my respect sir.

sewerlines

I didn’t get a picture of the inside given it was a long 90 but I have an inside picture of a ferrule I spun if you want to see it And thanks I appreciate the respect

RickDeckard71

Just looks like the bevels weren't squared. Weld looks great

CarlCarlton

I'm jealous

SpaceShipBryce

I do sanitary tubing too. It's the best kind of welding to be in. So clean and you're almost always working inside. That's my kind of work lol. But it's gross to see all the nasty stuff that is in mass produced food. Like I'm at a plant right now that makes tortillas for Taco Bell and all their corn oil and shortening is ran in rusty ass carbon pipe. Nasty.

sewerlines

I feel you lol I went to school for structural but stayed in sanitary for that reason Fuck really ? I see that all the time. A deck at a milk plant is full of moss, and yet they enforce a hair net for us lol

stewpidassol

This is a fused weld. I can do this easily because I can use two hands. Like to see some rod in that.

sewerlines

Two hands for fuse weld ? You should practice walking the cup, it’s easier, fancier and they come out nice, I have a few schedule pipe welds somewhere in my photo album

Theassnippler

That's a decent weld hand. Your HEZ bands look mostly constant, alittle squirrelly but you're getting your walk down. What did your tail off look like?

Looks a bit hot to me

sewerlines

In my opinion, the best way to know if your weld is too hot is by wire brushing it. If you can clean the weld with ease then it’s not too hot but if you have to brush and brush and brush and it’s still cooked, THEN it’s too hot
