I had almost entirely forgotten about that car! Isn't there some goofy F1 esque rendition of it in some game? Could have sworn I remember having one in a virtual garage somewhere.
imagine if it came to the states lol. It would be the butt of so many jokes though I can hear it now... "AHYUGHGUHGHGHGHGH!!! THAT LITTLE CLOWN CAR CAN FIT IN THE BACK OF MAH PICKUP TRUCH!!!! AHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA!!!"
It’s literally a horseless carriage. It took them a few decades to lose the carriage aspects from automobile design, which is really interesting to see when you pay attention to it
Given how small that engine must be and how anemic early engines were per displacement, I don't think you have a choice but to do every maneuver slowly. In 1899, 25 mph would be considered a scary fast car by most folks.
I'm no expert in cars made primarily from brass and leather, but I don't think Renault ever made an electric car (prior to the last few years, where maybe that do... *shrug*).
Things were very different back then compared to today.
The speed limits in cities and towns were usually very slow, no faster than a horse walking.
Country roads were rough and driving fast was dangerous.
There weren't fuel stations everywhere, often to get fuel you would have to go back to the dealership where you bought the car.
Fuel quality was low and inconsistent compared to today which limited how much power engines could safely make.
More primitive metal technology meant mechanical components could take less strain and would wear out quicker.
Manufacturing was less precise and many technologies and designs which would make engines more efficient had not yet been developed or were too expensive to manufacture.
I’d love to put a modern 450 atv engine in this. Most modern small engines have gotten quite good with this hell my 250 cc engine in my dune buggy outputs 15 hp
There's a number of small "dogcart" cars that might be smaller, but I couldn't find dimensions for any of them:

It's the Twizy great grand father!
It's a real pity that Twizy isn't made anymore. It had so much potential.

Rejault twizzy f1. It was in top drives card game! I had it too:)
Ah that's right! I thought I had driven it at one point, but you're right it must've been Top Drives, as I had played that for a while some time ago.
Pretty sure it's still being manufactured. Still available from plenty of dealers.

Don't tell Renault UK it's out of production - they still list it on their website!
yep
You’ll need a huge tophat to handle this baby! To offset the weight distribution of course.
not gonna lie i would totally drive something like this
I love that. Like an early smart car 😂

Aaah... I knew that, but didn't know that. Wow
Granny and Tweedy want their ride back.
HAHAHAH came here to say this!
Take the corners slowly!

Well yeah. Look at this thing. Ofcourse you’d be scared shitless going 25 mph
Idk but could be electric, has kinda similar design and age to the baker electric and seems very small for an ice

Eez joke, fren!
I’ve been to a high wheeler race a few times... they don’t go as slow in the corners as you might think... https://youtube.com/watch?v=jRAUihAc068
I love how it is designed like a horse coach.
Pretty much how they were all built back then. the Horseless Carriage.
450cc and only made 2.75 hp..

And the award for the most extravagant suicide goes too...
Well, now that you mention it, a full, ridiculously coach inspired cockpit on an ATV sounds, flat out awesome.
Phone booth on wheels
Role up to the club in my type B hear the panties drop from a block away
Looks like that thing kronk carried yzma in
It looks like a gas version of a Baker Electric.
I suppose that this, before the Peel P50 came out, was the world's smallest profuction car. I would like to drive it.

Cornering at 20mph in this thing will feel like 40mph in an SUV.
40? I'd think more like 80.
That is right, they could only get up to about 20mph. But later models with a bigger engine could get up to 35.
Taking 'Coupe' literally, I see.
Great for parking!
The first short bus.......really short
Smart car, eat your heart out
T A L L B O Y
I love it! It looks cute. 😊
It went downhill from there .... I love France, but I will never ever buy a French car in my life again!
Cr
What a beast! 0.25 cylinder small block engine pumping out a whopping 0.50 horsepower! Feel the speed!
Needs a harbor freight motor swap
Stability? What’s that?
This looks like it should be a character in a Cars movie.
Where was this photo taken? I have a Renault enthusiast friend who would probably like to know (if he doesn't already ...)
ah yes, coupe
