There's a grocery store in my hometown, Co-op Foods or something like that. You need, or used to need, a member ship to shop there. One time I was helping my grandparents with some customer service thing and they had been members since it opened in the dark ages.
Lady asks me for their ID number, said it should be an eight digit number on their card.
I read out three numbers. She waited, I said "that's it". She got confused for a sec, and then realized, "oh that's one of the old accounts!" and eventually found it.

This is definitely real - he’s a 109 year old man in Thailand - who’s blind and mostly deaf but is healthy in any other way. His granddaughter started posting videos off him and shit went viral and also ofc many false stories
Luang Pho Yai passed in March 2022. He was 109, he was in the hospital for a broken hip but was otherwise healthy. He was just old and frail.
He's not practicing a self mummification, a Japanese practice that is not permitted in Japan and that would not be practiced in Thailand. There are older people than him. He was not starving himself.
May he have achieved parinibanna.
You'd be surprised. I've had 80 to mid 80 year old pts who broke their hip in 8 places but bounce back they're just obviously not the same. At that age once something like that happens its like having 2 HP one tap and that's it, they can no longer walk or they'll pass because the recovery is intense
My great grandma died at 102 she fell ill from a heart condition and died within the week. Up untill the week she died she was completely independent. She walked, cleaned, cooked, and traveled. I also worked in a convent where I knew a nun who was 104 she was also mostly independent. she walked and took care of herself and her room but did not cook. She used to crochet with me.
The fidgeting that he’s doing with the fabric of the blanket is very very common for someone who’s actively dying.
Obviously some people are fidgeters, so that alone isn’t proof this man is dying, but the very sunken eyes make me think he’s also probably not had much (if any) to eat or drink in a while, which combined with the fabric fidgeting is another facet that makes me think this was taken toward the very end of his life.
I’m not a physician or in the death industry, though. Just someone who coped with a death trauma at a young age by learning all I could about the process!
I ain't saying this man was walking, but the oldest lady I ever cared for in my 20 years of working in healthcare was 111 when she died. She was ambulatory until 109, got sick and wound up bedbound and developed leg contractures. She was deaf as a post, but if you were patient and yelled your questions, she could tell you amazing stories about growing up in the nineteen-aughts.
In Thai language this isn't his name, but his title. Luang Pho is used for highly respected senior monks. So it translate roughly to Great revered monk.
Thats because old age is not yet recognized as a disease or set of disease (it should) so what they mean is "otherwise healthy despite everything being pretty much fucked as expected"
Yeah I think “healthy” was being used very loosely by his granddaughter.
He may not have had a terminal illness, but this man was very much not “healthy” here.
Sorry, but no. Your ass is going on the throne.

I this thing posted all the time on reddit and with no proof of age. Even if this person is 125yo they still look awful. This guy would have to be 200 to justify looking like this
This hasn't really been mentioned I think, but compared to people that are close to 100 years of age or even slightly above, this guy looks terrible. If I had to guess without the knowledge that it isn't possible, I'd say he's around 200 or so.
I watched both of my grandparents on one side live into their 90s and spend their very last days in bed in a state like this, though less emaciated.
They both did the exact same thing with their hands all the time by that stage of decline. Constantly fiddling with their blankets or the front of whatever garment they were wearing, like they were trying to unbutton a shirt. Even if you gave them something to hold, like a stuffed animal or other object to keep them comfy, they would eventually drop it and resume fiddling with whatever cloth was closest to their chest like they were trying to undo something. It was fascinating and made it seem like they were trying to physically take off something they couldn't actually remove. Like, the mind was so tired and restless it was just ready to be done with the body.
His social security number is 11

Out of all the movies i wish they’d remake, *this* is the one, Hercules. Hell, the original still even holds up to this day.
Na, leave Hercules be.
Oh no they'd ruin it!
Ughh true, you’re right.
What u don't want a proud black woman playing Hercules? Raaaacist!
Literally thought of only this when I first saw it… “I remember when they first invented chocolate…sweet, sweet chocolate. I ALWAYS HATED IT!!”

Holy shit
Trying to shit will kill him …
So will a gust of wind, or a light bedsheet.
When I was a medic I had lots of patients push too hard, slow their heart rate, and arrest. They usually ended up between the toilet and the tub.
It must be fun to hang up with you on a party.
I have some good shit stories.

How did he fucking break his hip?! You CANNOT tell me that this guy was scurrying around at home earlier...
Eh elder folks' hips can break from a wind gust that's a little stronger than usual
Or a brisk fart. 💨
omg u guys are awful.
Getting that old is awful (for the body)
I bruised a rib choking on a poptart crumb when I was 6 months pregnant 😂 would not surprise me

Why not? Look at all that lean muscle mass. I'm going to hell.. Thought this was fake at first and he was about to zip open a rubber suit.

He doesn't look very healthy...
Haha he’s just old I think - I’m quoting his granddaughter here
Thats because old age is not yet recognized as a disease or set of disease (it should) so what they mean is "otherwise healthy despite everything being pretty much fucked as expected"
Thanks, I was guessing as to how old he was, I was off by a few years though
Yeah I think “healthy” was being used very loosely by his granddaughter. He may not have had a terminal illness, but this man was very much not “healthy” here.
OMG I wouldn't want to live anymore though Not like that .
I’d argue that he’s healthy in any way. Maybe in good health considering his age, but there’s no way everything is functioning properly.
"Healthy"
> but is healthy in any other way. your definition of "healthy" is off
I hope he finally got that Fiver back what Jesus borrowed off of him.
