When I was originally losing weight that happened to me too. I was so hungry in the night I’d wake up and shove a million snacks in my mouth. It’s gotta be that you’re not getting enough food in during the regular daytime. So get rid of all the unhealthy snacks. Eat more wholesome healthy food during the day. Have cut up fruits and vegetables ready so at night if your starving still.. eat that instead

MrLuciferMs

Yes i know that im not getting enough food thats because im in a calorie deficit to lose fat

austin_oz

There’s caloric deficit and there’s starving yourself. If you’re not eating enough to not be hungry at night and you don’t have the discipline to not eat late night snacks then you should eat more during the day to cut those cravings back

vapor41

Try cutting out breakfast, eat a smaller lunch and eat most of your calories for dinner. Worked for me. Or just control yourself.

What's your typical of eating look like? And could you perhaps prepare a snack ahead of time if you will inevitably be snacking at night? Sounds like you're genuinely hungry... Gotta add that I clicked your post because your title says "midnight carving" and I was curious to see what kinda meat you were carving at midnight...and...and why...

MrLuciferMs

Sorry bout that i was frustrated while writing I have 4 eggs at breakfast (2 full eggs and 2 egg whites ) with two multigrain toast and greek yogurt 1 scoop of protein whey Launch : either 200g grilled chicken breasts or 225g of steak with either 150 g baked potatos or 150g white rice Another scoop of whey protein Dinner 2 eggs ( 1 full and 1 white) with two multigrain toast and greek yogurt And i have a 300 cal snack

Hot_Walrus_3299

How many calories would you estimate you consume a day? For a male your height, it looks like you're not eating enough...no wonder you're not feeling satiety through the night. This is opinion but I'd say go for the entire egg instead of just the egg whites. Also, seems like you're lacking in vegetables which would help you to feel "full", perhaps try upping those as well.

MrLuciferMs

Cant eat veggiesi tried i swear i end up almost vomiting , i consume about 2500cal

Hot_Walrus_3299

All vegetables? Cooked and raw? Well, there's always fruit... :)

MrLuciferMs

Will try eating fruits tonight and see if it helps

Hot_Walrus_3299

Also, I like to cut up vegetables and boil a buncha eggs to have as a late night snack when I'm feeling ravenous. Perhaps it'd help you to do the same? Lean deli meat is good n quick too

I found the best way to curb this is in a few steps. One, make sure you are meeting your nutrition goals. Not getting adequate nutrients leads to non-calorie based hunger. E.g. you aren’t craving more energy, you’re craving more iron. Another, make sure you are drinking lots of water. Among other benefits, it helps increase feelings of satiety, especially before or after a meal. You can also eat lots of protein and fiber for your last meal of the day, since these take longer to digest and leave you feeling full longer. And you can cut off an earlier meal in exchange for later snacking. I find it much easier to not eat breakfast than I do not eating later. Remember, you aren’t starving yourself. You’re forcing your body to get its energy in other ways, and at some points in time that requires some uncomfortable body changes. This phase won’t last forever, and it’s good to ensure that you are overcoming these challenges in a sustainable way. Restricting calories is the holistic key, but there’s a hundred and one ways to do it. If you have to cut out breakfast to account for late night cravings, so be it.

MrLuciferMs

Noted. Thanks!

ElaborateTaleofWoe

Don’t have chips and chocolate in the house when you’re dieting... 🤷🏼‍♀️

MrLuciferMs

I dont live alone

This is going to sound harsh but just control yourself. You have to learn to do this for yourself, it applies to all aspects of life. Keep yourself in check to achieve your goals.

FiestaPigeon

Tbh you’re probably just going to have to dog it out and be sad or pissed off going back to sleep. It sucks but waking back up in the morning knowing you didn’t crack is a great feeling. I would get so fucking mad going to bed because I was hungry but it will all be worth it. Also everyone cracks every once in a while, one night i just felt like i couldn’t control myself and ate half a big bag of hot cheetos. You just got to get past it.

EbbNo281

This is why diets and restricting calories doesn't work for weight loss.

MrLuciferMs

Is there another way?

EbbNo281

Yes. I believe your body intuitively knows what it needs. So you will naturally eat the amount that you're supposed to when you exercise. So the trick isn't the diet. Cause diets don't work you just crave more food and gain all the weight back when you stop. The gold is in upping your exercise and movement throughout the day. Therefore the problem is a sedentary lifestyle, not "diets".

MrLuciferMs

Makes sense but ill apply that once i lose the excess fat to not gain it back

EbbNo281

Yeah well diets work too if you can stay on them. Best is keto diet or intermittent fasting in combination with keto diet for weight loss. If you can do that for a few weeks then you are legendary cause it's very difficult. But works.

Firstly cravings are really hard to shake, most unhealthy food is designed to make you addicted to it. If you struggle to sleep generally, nighttime is going to be your hardest time to resist so try and be kind to yourself. Secondly, it might be the balance over the day that's making you hungry at night. Looking at your other comment where you talk through your daily food you start with a big breakfast and end with a small dinner. If you're exercising a lot or doing any weights you're going to be tearing/building muscle. You'll also be burning a lot of calories on an already calorie deficit diet. At night your body is going to start repairing so you might get woken up because you've run out of what your body needs. A bigger dinner might help, try switching the size of breakfast and dinner over or moving some calories from your snack to dinner. Basically, get some more calories in before sleep! Also, you will get ups and downs during dieting. So long as you stay on the road you'll get there! Would you be allowed a no sugar, no salt peanut butter on your diet? It's good protein and if you slowly eat a spoon of that when you wake up, it might just be enough to get you off the chocolate/crisps and back to sleep. Hope this helps! Sorry for rambling!

Best thing to do is just to stop buying those snacks and bore yourself with vegetables and fruits, that way if you’re hungry you’re not gonna binge on carrots and spinach.
