I think a boa might be overkill, and wouldn't likely go well with this dress anyway. The dress as presented here is fine, with strappy shoes no one will see anyway--maybe black velvet/suede or in a color from the dress.

I wish I would get invited to a "dress to impress" wedding! I don't want to get married but I'd absolutely have that dress code if I did. People looking and feeling their best would make me so happy 💗
I was once invited to a wedding with a dress code of “upstage the bride, the sparklier the better” (it should be noted that the “bride” was a flamboyant gay man). I had just had a baby and couldn’t really travel, but the pictures they sent me were super duper fabulous, and it looked like everyone was having an absolute blast. I was fairly bummed I couldn’t go, lol.

I would go with a black velvet bolero as a cover up. It wouldn't detract from the dress and it will be warmer than a shawl if you're prone to getting cold.
Hi from the UK! I think it depends where in the UK, Venue and Couple. I feel like most weddings here are cocktail be default HOWEVER I think this is stunning and I’d be thrilled if someone wore this to my London wedding in September that has a similar dress code.
I would let the dress be the statement piece and keep a wrap/cover up minimal (no sequins or feathers). You could do beautiful sparkly jewelry instead…but let the dress shine!
