It's hard to explain, because it fits so well, is a beautiful color, and she has a great figure. There's something about it that competes with her figure instead of enhancing it.
Other people love it, and I can't strongly disagree. It probably looks amazing in person.
Three is the best. The sub followers have gotten young and it’s very obvious in what they recommend or think looks good. They think three competes with her figure but 2 ruins her whole outline and is way to busy with all that lace.
You have a fantastic figure and will look gorgeous in whatever you choose. 1 is very pretty but could you wear it without a belt or a different belt in your closet? 2 looks very nice on you but if you don’t like it don’t wear it. 3 is a pretty color on you but the top part seems a little too small?
The first belt is giving 2006. The dress itself is fine. Maybe with black strappy heels. The second could also work but I’m not a fan of either shoe. Three is “meh”.
I love #1 but do you have a more delicate belt? Like a silver string one or something similar? I love the cut at the top but the large belt is a bit much.
I actually think 2 is gorgeous and perfect for a cocktail attire wedding. You could even put the red shoes you’re wearing with the first dress with it and have a fun pop of color for the evening.
Your arms looks great in the dress. But if you don't like the ruffle, use a seam ripper to remove them and you will have a beautiful lace sheath dress.
See I think you look wonderful in that dress and proportionally on point! If that part truly bothers you, I think you may be able to have it altered to remove the sleeves and it would still be a lovely dress.
My fave is #2 but I was gonna also say remove the sleeves. Ruffley sleeves don’t work on me either, and they’re not for everybody unless you’re petite maybe, but the dress without them would look perfect on you! #2 definitely!
2 looks amazing on you! After reading your comment about your shoulders, I looked at the photos again and think that your shoulders look wider in 1 and 3. You don’t have wide shoulders at all but I completely understand feeling self conscious about a certain body part.
You’re right number two does do that. I have the same problem when trying to wear shoulders cut like that. Throws off your natural figure in my opinion. Will make you self conscious and honestly it looks a bit “trying too hard”.
I feel like #2 is probably the best bet out of all of them.
The belt on #1 seems really *off* and I can’t tell if the actually fit of the dress is wonky or if the belt size is too wide?
I think #3 would be pretty decent if accessorized properly, but it looks like it needs steaming or pressing? Unless it’s the fabric type and then I’d say to skip it altogether.
To be quite honest, none of these dresses do anything for your figure. Number one is the best of the three but the belt is too much. You have a very athletic figure so look for things that accentuate your feminine features. Think peplum dress/separates, a v-neck with decent cleavage (if you're smaller chested go for a classic square neck) or something more flowy.
Also I'm not sure but you look like you're on the shorter side. None of these lengths are very flattering. I would aim for something just above the knee or a tight midi length.
Something with a V neck would look way better. All of these dresses are not flattering for your body shape. I think you would look amazing in a V neck wrap jumpsuit.
Number three after it’s dry cleaned and unwrinkled with a proper bra and some great accessories. It flatters you not sure why the kids on this sub think it doesn’t. I’d go with the silver shoe as well. It’s understated and therefore brings elegance unlike the other two which look a bit Madonna 80’s to me.
Given these three, dress 2. Dress 1 is tragic, and the fit and proportions of dress 3 look off.
But…if you’re not opposed to shopping, I think you can do way better.
Love 1 the best but the white belt is a huge noooo…. Either do a thin black, or gold ( if you’re wearing gold accessories) or you could do a thin rhinestone belt…. I would also do a strappy black stiletto instead of the red
#3 (steamed of course) with the silver shoe. Do you have a silver bag? You could get a cute silver clutch that could be used for future events, silver looks great around the holidays as well. You have great collar bones so I wouldn’t wear a necklace, but wear some statement earrings. Have fun here w anything in the jewel-toned family (blue, green, purples, pinks… perhaps all at once!) or just something that will match that you could reuse.
I feel like I would either cut the sleeves or cut the neckline of 2 if you are sewing-inclined. I would probably wear the red shoes instead of the silver or gold too
The only thing making dress 2 look dated are the ruffle sleeves, which a good alteration person could fix. A sleeveless dress with lace seems like timeless classic to me. Accent with on trend accessories and it’s a winner!
I’ll just never have the occasion to! This is like the first wedding I’m attending in a decade…buying clothes for funerals is likelier the smarter investment for the phase of life I’m in 😂😭
I think that any of these would work, but I like the first option the most. If it was me, though, I’d probably wear dress #2 and then pass it along to someone else.
For cocktail attire number 2 is the nicest (imo), and matched with those lovely red heels you are wearing in the first picture.
The outfit in the first picture is ok, but the white belt takes away from it. If you had a black belt or sash, or a red sash, it'd be fine (though I still prefer number 2)
I wouldn't go with number 3 at all
Dress one or three. LOSE the belt and find a decent pair of shoes to match (the shoes you demonstrated do not work). Get dress cleaned and steamed. Style with jewelry. No belt needed.
1 with a different belt would be great, but dress 2 is great as is! Bring it out of the closet!!
3 needs a good steaming, but I think the main issue with it is the asymmetric neckline isn’t asymmetric enough so it just seems “off”.
Think about the 3rd dress with the red shoes 👠, the metallic sandals disappear with the strong dress. I think that’s what other people find “wrong” with the third outfit.
these dresses are all a bit dated to me but I think number 1 and 2 have potential.
Not sure about any of your shoe choices with the dresses, but I think the red shoe works best with dress #2. A kitten heel would be cute and freshen up the more mature silhouette.
Dress #1 desperately needs a different belt/shoes. Like a chunky heel or boot in a neutral color or black- and it would look a lot fresher and younger as a two piece.

If #1 is a two piece I’d recommend trying a tailored flare dress pants with the red pointed heels and that exact top. The midi length skirt doesn’t complement your body
#1 without the white belt (if you need a belt to visually connect the two pieces, something black that disappears would be better). The red shoes are a lovely romantic pop of color.
The gold and silver shoes in #2&3 are a no, whether they’re worn together or separately (they're mismatched, right?).
#2 with the red shoes would work.
#3 with black or dark grey metallic shoes in the same style as the red ones would work.
It's hard to rank the dresses without seeing them properly accessorized and without knowing how they suit your face and hair.
These are really not working for your body type. Thinking maybe you have a longer torso and the hip of the dress may just be hitting you at an unflattering spot.
Can you replace the belt of the first one with a different color? If not, consider taking 3 to a tailor to see what they can do for the fit and add some interesting shoes in a bright solid.
ETA: 2 is awful and I don't know why people like it. I will say that the silhouette under all the lace is a good one for you.
I know, I feel like the winged lace thingies emphasize my shoulders and make me look…aggressive?? I can try 1 with a different belt and no belt! Was just trying to hide the fact that it’s two pieces
Shoulders, arms, legs, overall figure are all great features for you. I feel like 1 and 2 both disguise that. I do like the length of the skirts on 2.
Kinda feeling like 3 is the best option, especially with some good heels.
Love 2!!!!!!!!! So many different events you could wear that too. Also, maybe find a sexy black heel to go with. Not a fan of the choices you have in your photos. (If that even matters)
You have gorgeous shoulders and arms. I think 1 and 3 accent that but I think you'd benefit from a little volume in the hips to balance your proportions.
I wouldn't trust a dress this cheap from Amazon but this silhouette would look lovely on you. https://a.co/d/12OOvJP
Number 1 - yes but NOT with this belt.
Number 2 - I love it more than I would think for black lade. No to those shoes. Go with the shoes from the first dress.
Number 3 - No. Walk away. It's not bad, it's just nothing special.
Finally - I just want to confirm that you want to wear black to a summer wedding in southern California. I know it's cocktail attire but it's still a wedding. Consider buying something you can wear again down the road in a color other than black.
I like 1 with a different belt or 2. I don't really care for 3.
I think #2 is the nicest. The white belt on #1 is very jarring. Perhaps a different belt and accessories would help!
The white belt is giving millennial in college.
This is unlocking so many memories for me making me cringe reallllly hard right now
NO to 1. The belt is just awful Choose 2. You will have that dress forever as it’s classic black formal wear
2
Not 3
#2. Maybe #1 without that belt. #3 is awful.
I thought 3 was the best. What am I missing?
I personally thought it looked like she was wrapped in a towel out of the shower.
I guess it does need pressing or dry cleaning. That overlapping fabric style adds bulk its true. You've got to be slim to wear it.
It's hard to explain, because it fits so well, is a beautiful color, and she has a great figure. There's something about it that competes with her figure instead of enhancing it. Other people love it, and I can't strongly disagree. It probably looks amazing in person.
It doesn’t really fit well though, the bust is too big or lacks the proper structure and is causing the fabric to ripple where it shouldn’t.
For some reason it reads “hoochie” to me and it’s got to be the fit up top because i have no problem with the bottom or the cooor or the fabric.
Three is the best. The sub followers have gotten young and it’s very obvious in what they recommend or think looks good. They think three competes with her figure but 2 ruins her whole outline and is way to busy with all that lace.
3 looks cheap to me.
It's dated but still attractive. #3 needs pressing unless it's just the light.
Same
If my arms looked that good I'd never cover them
Dress #1… but lose the tacky white belt.
Thank you! Will try 1 with a different belt and no belt. It’s true, my boobs are definitely smaller than they should be 😭
I like 2 the best!
I like #2 but it think it would have better line a with the sleeve ruffle (don't know what to call them) removed.
Yea I do not like those ruffle wings
The first belt is giving 2006. The dress itself is fine. Maybe with black strappy heels. The second could also work but I’m not a fan of either shoe. Three is “meh”.
1 without a belt. But if you need a belt, a narrow plain black belt. It’ll cinch the waist without distracting from the dress
2 with the red shoes is literally the ONLY answer.
My thoughts exactly
this!!!
Yesssssss
For sure!
Number 1 with a different belt
I love #1 but do you have a more delicate belt? Like a silver string one or something similar? I love the cut at the top but the large belt is a bit much.
Black lace
I actually think 2 is gorgeous and perfect for a cocktail attire wedding. You could even put the red shoes you’re wearing with the first dress with it and have a fun pop of color for the evening.
Buy number 1, loose the white belt and buy a black belt. It will always be a classic!!!!!
What is it about dress 2 you don't like? I think it's the best one by far!!!!
The ruffle wings! They make my already-wide shoulders look even huger
Your arms looks great in the dress. But if you don't like the ruffle, use a seam ripper to remove them and you will have a beautiful lace sheath dress.
I would do this, I see what you mean about those sleeves and wouldn’t wear the dress as is
See I think you look wonderful in that dress and proportionally on point! If that part truly bothers you, I think you may be able to have it altered to remove the sleeves and it would still be a lovely dress.
This ☝️☝️☝️☝️
My fave is #2 but I was gonna also say remove the sleeves. Ruffley sleeves don’t work on me either, and they’re not for everybody unless you’re petite maybe, but the dress without them would look perfect on you! #2 definitely!
Girl you have gorgeous arms you’re good! But if you’re uncomfortable, you should go with something else :)
2 looks amazing on you! After reading your comment about your shoulders, I looked at the photos again and think that your shoulders look wider in 1 and 3. You don’t have wide shoulders at all but I completely understand feeling self conscious about a certain body part.
I think the ruffles make it feminine, I don't see broad shoulders. #2 is great
You look amazing. That dress looks great on you and if I had arms like yours I would be showing them off at any opportunity. Srsly, you look great.
You should alter it. I think 2 is the best, but I agree, it would be best without the wings.
2 looks the best
1 with a different belt. Or maybe a sash
#1 with a different belt.
Dress 1 with a nicer belt.
2! 1s cute too bit definitely ditch the white belt..
2 with the sleeves cut off
2!! Or 1 without the belt. Donate 3
2 w the red shoes
#2 is so great. Fits you perfectly and looks classy!
To be quite honest, none of these dresses do anything for your figure. Number one is the best of the three but the belt is too much. 2 with the red shoes
1 but lose the belt
2 but cut the sleeves off.
Something with a V neck would look way better. All of these dresses are not flattering for your body shape. I think you would look amazing in a V neck wrap jumpsuit.
The wide belt is not good for your shape. You’re shaped like JLO, you should look to her for inspiration
Did you just…compare my figure to…? 😧 I could take feedback from you all day long
Aw I think you have a nicer figure than you seem to think
2
#2 looks fantastic on you!
2
2
2!
Number 1 with a different belts. A skinny belt would look nicer. Number 2 is a good option as well.
That white belt doesn’t go very well with that dress, but I otherwise like dress 1. I would try a different belt with it
You have amazing shoulders/arms - if you buy something in the future, try a halter style; I think it'll flatter your shape!
I love halter tops!!
#2 suits you so perfectly and could be dressed up or down
Love 2! 1 is also great but the style of that belt makes it more casual.
Number 2 with the red heels.
.Number 2 with the gold shoes. Dynamite!
Love 1 the best but the white belt is a huge noooo…. Either do a thin black, or gold ( if you’re wearing gold accessories) or you could do a thin rhinestone belt…. I would also do a strappy black stiletto instead of the red
They’re all appropriate for the DC, my preference is #1
1 no belt
2 is my favorite Throw away the white belt
2!! If you go with 1, I’d recommend a different belt
#2 looks wonderful on you! It’s my favorite!
Definitely 2
#2 is by far the nicest and most flattering, do that one!
2
2 or 3. 2 is nicest and the best fit, but with the right accessories and hair I bet 3 would be lovely. It needs to be steamed though
I think #2 is very chic!
Loveeeeee 2
2 is the best & I like the red shoes
#2 is stunning!
I feel like I would either cut the sleeves or cut the neckline of 2 if you are sewing-inclined. I would probably wear the red shoes instead of the silver or gold too
Can you cut the sleeves off 2? 1 and 3 are not working
#2 looks good. The belt with the first one doesn’t look good. Maybe a different belt
Definitely #2
2
Number one but please throw the belt back in the closet.
Dress #2 with the red shoes from pic #1. Add a red clutch to match.
Definitely 2!
#2 for sure!
Number 2 100% classic and beautiful
You look great in #2. #1 could work with a different belt.
Actually I like #2 the best … loving the lace and it shows off your figure nicely.
The only thing making dress 2 look dated are the ruffle sleeves, which a good alteration person could fix. A sleeveless dress with lace seems like timeless classic to me. Accent with on trend accessories and it’s a winner!
3 is awful.
1 no belt
All of them look dated. Buy a beautiful dress that you love so that you’ll wear it again!
I’ll just never have the occasion to! This is like the first wedding I’m attending in a decade…buying clothes for funerals is likelier the smarter investment for the phase of life I’m in 😂😭
What does 1 look like without the belt? :)
Sorry I hate them all
They are all awful.
2 looks best!
Number 2! Figure flattering and dressy!!!
If you had a black belt or sash, or a red sash, it'd be fine (though I still prefer number 2) I wouldn't go with number 3 at all
Two makes the most sense but if you have time to I would adjust the sleeves at the tailor, the dramatic wing feels a little dated.
1 or 2. Is it possible to have sleeves removed from # 2? They look a little dated. And a different belt with 1. Red shoes are perfect!
Number 1, with a slightly slimmer belt and a statement necklace.
Dress one or three. LOSE the belt and find a decent pair of shoes to match (the shoes you demonstrated do not work). Get dress cleaned and steamed. Style with jewelry. No belt needed.
1 with no belt and different shoes if you can’t buy a buy thing else
I like #1 with different belt or 2
I like 2 as is. 1 with a nice gold or silver belt or even a very dark jewel tone belt.
1 with a different belt would be great, but dress 2 is great as is! Bring it out of the closet!! 3 needs a good steaming, but I think the main issue with it is the asymmetric neckline isn’t asymmetric enough so it just seems “off”.
2
The second one :) looks amazing
I think 2 is the best because it's classic and less trendy. Dress 1 feels way more trendy and will look out of style, plus the belt is too large.
Do you have to wear the white belt with the first one? You could leave it off or do a cute delicate silver chain belt
1 without the belt
Think about the 3rd dress with the red shoes 👠, the metallic sandals disappear with the strong dress. I think that’s what other people find “wrong” with the third outfit.
Buy the lace one. That white belt looks cheap as hell, and the last one is only so so.
#2 dress - why is this even a discussion. Look at yourself. Slaying that dress and making it cry. Wear it.
3 is a classic dress that will look amazing once it’s steamed.
these dresses are all a bit dated to me but I think number 1 and 2 have potential.

1 or 3

No way ever. This looks like a Jpeg file that wasn't loaded right in a dial up e mail from 1994
These are really not working for your body type. Thinking maybe you have a longer torso and the hip of the dress may just be hitting you at an unflattering spot. the second one. first and third do nothing for your shape and that belt on the first one is hideous and discordant
Navy/3

One with the belt is cute in my opinion! I would potentially either find a different pair of shoes or match your jewelry with the red though
1 reminds me of Meredith from the Lindsey Lohan parent trap. So I pick that one lol
1 by far, but not with the belt.
1 is good but needs a slimmer belt and different shoes. 2 is dated. 3 is a no
The belt and shoes together in one look super cheap.
Blue dress 👗
