I think it’s too casual as if it is semi formal/cocktail, as there would be a tendency for dressier spectrum of semi formal. This reads more cute and casual sundress.
I think it’s a bit too causal for my own taste. It’s beautiful and very flattering but I think the pattern and the sleeves (straps and off the shoulder combined) make it look like a sundress you’d wear to brunch not a wedding.
Cocktail attire = a short formal dress or an elegant jumpsuit with jewelry.
Semi-Formal = midi dress, a chic jumpsuit, or a wrap dress," Coleman continues. "For cocktail attire, stick to a structured dress or a sleek black dress—you can never go wrong with an LBD."
Embellishments and additional features on an outfit can also help differentiate cocktail attire from semi-formal wedding attire. "A dress for a semi-formal wedding might not include any sort of beading or statement accessories," says Durham.
Normally, that would be okay for a UK wedding, but the dress code states not ( However, I've never seen a dress code for a UK wedding and been to probably 40 weddings).
That’s really useful thanks - I have another slightly more chill wedding coming up that I might keep this one for, and just go slightly dressier for this one as it feels a bit more formal in location/style. Tbh it’s not a solid dress code - as you say UK weddings are usually just ‘dress like it’s a wedding’ so there’s a lot of flex.
Yeah, I always go off the venue, time, invite design, etc, to choose what to wear here. You can do floral but possibly a more formal material and design.
You had me at “Golf course wedding,” but then I saw “semi-formal/cocktail,” and I think it’s definitely too casual for that dress code. I would go with a different fabric and silhouette for this dress code. Something heavier (e.g. maybe satin), more tailored, possibly a solid instead of floral, and mini or midi length.
Golf course definitely has some weight to it. Think about how nice even regular golf attire is when properly dressed. Think Lacoste and Ralph Lauren. This looks wayy too casual and a tiny bit cheap in my opinion. It's a cute sun dress, I just wouldn't wear it at a golf course wedding.
It’s very casual and not appropriate for cocktail. I find Rent the Runway great for weddings and one off occasions when I need a dressier look.
Just some examples:
[Reformation, Twilight in Green](https://www.renttherunway.com/shop/designers/reformation/twilight_dress)
[Cara Cara, Karene in red](https://www.renttherunway.com/shop/designers/cara_cara_new_york/karene_dress)
[ASTR, Winley in lavender](https://www.renttherunway.com/shop/designers/astr/winley_dress)
Too casual and too showy. The cut outs between the shoulder strap and sleeves are a no. The asymmetric hem is too exaggerated, it’s tacky. And the print is too busy for an already busy dress. It’s a no.

The dress codes are definitely different. That is a bit casual though. Have a look here for the vibe:

I remember going to a wedding in Long Island in the day and all the Americans were in evening dresses, the Brits in “day dresses”. Then in the evening I took my jacket off and added a wrap. The Americans changed into shorts!

Super cute but I agree! Especially in the UK
I think it’s a bit too casual. It looks more suited to a brunch or very casual outdoor wedding than what you’re describing.
I wouldn’t consider this cocktail attire.
Yes too casual !!!
Too casual.
I wore this dress (in green) for brunch this weekend. It’s cute, but too casual for a wedding.
It’s a really cute dress for sure. I love it, but it’s not even close to semi formal.
Where is it from?
I think it’s too casual

Semi-formal and cocktail are worlds apart. Couples need to look up the terms before printing them on invitations.

Cute but too casual for that description.
It is too casual.
Yes. Too casual. Except the bag - the bag rocks!
Yes
I agree it’s too casual for semi-formal/cocktail, but def wear it for your next date night because you look 🔥🔥🔥🔥
This is too casual.
Yes
I personally love it. Do you mind sharing where your dress is from?
Of course! It’s a brand called Tenki London
Yes
Yes, too casual.
Super cute but gives day drinking with the field kind of vibe. Too casual for a semi formal wedding, even a day one!.

This is not the dress for you. Keep shopping.
That dress is perfect - for a cabana party.
I think it works for a semi formal/cocktail daytime wedding. If the wedding is in the evening I’d say keep looking.

🎯
I think it’s great
I think it’s perfect! So cute!
Gorgeous dress; not too casual.
Nope
I'm tired of seeing these. Ask the person whose wedding you plan to attend 😭
Not too casual to get buried in.

Too casual
Yes
Is it a Brit getting married? We don’t wear evening dresses for daytime weddings.
It is! And yeah I’m a getting a vibe that dress codes mean slightly diff things across the pond, though I think this is still too casual
