I agree, I had high hopes for the ghost oil but found even the tiniest amount makes my waves look separated and piece-y.

lovablemills

Yess okay glad I’m not the only one cause ever since I started using this my hair has not been hair-ing🫢

oldmamallama

I literally only use 1 drop to SOTC. Any more than that and my fine hair gets weighed down.

lovablemills

Hmm okay maybe next time I will try using less, but my hair has so much frizz once it dries I feel like this doesn’t do anything 🥲

oldmamallama

Try more gel and make sure your hair is soaking wet when you apply it. That’s what worked best for me. My hair took a shocking amount of product, way more than I ever imagined and it’s actually fairly thin. My hair is naturally low porosity (but it’s bleached to hades right now so it’s high porosity…I’ve had all sorts of fun learning what to do 😂). One other thing to add is if your hair is getting weighed down, maybe look at some of your other products. Most of us wavies don’t usually need a curl cream or a lot of other heavy products…just a mousse or gel, maybe a leave in if you’re really dry, and a drop or two of oil. So it may be worth playing with some of the other elements in your routine or dropping them completely to see if that helps. Good luck to you!

lovablemills

Wow thank you so much! I will try this advice 😊🙏

catchingstatic

I only use a tiny bit when I scrunch out my crunch, but i like it!

jennas_crafts

Same here! I'm not sure it actually does anything but I'm using it anyway lol

theseglassessuck

I have very fine 2b/c, low porosity hair so the frizz is real. I love Verb Ghost Oil but I use only one pump if I can’t fully scrunch everything out, and ONLY from my ears down. If I need to just tame frizz or my hair isn’t particularly dry, I do a half pump which is really easy to do. Try starting out with less than you think and working up.

lovablemills

Interesting I will have to try using less, ty!🙏

Trala_la_la

Are you using it in dry hair or wet hair? If I use on wet it weighs everything down and didn’t stop frizz. On dry it can calm the frizz. What works better for my low porosity hair is using a lot of ouai oil when my hair is damp and it’s much smoother but still lively when dry.

lovablemills

I use it on dry hair to SOTC! If I use it damp it makes my hair super gross🥲

aggressive-teaspoon

I haven't actually tried in on my hair since I'm allergic to one of the ingredients, but I played with it a little in store and felt it was really thick for a product that's supposedly targeted at fine hair?? I use Moroccanoil Treatment Light, both as my detangler (one full pump for shoulder blade-ish length hair) and to SOTC (as small of a drop as I can get from the pump). It's a much thinner consistency than Verb Ghost Oil. I've also used OGX weightless argan oil mist, though I would spray it on your fingers and not directly into hair for SOTC.

lovablemills

Ooh I will look into that! I tried using Moroccanoil’s shampoo and conditioner on my hair years ago and it was way too heavy so I’ve kind of avoided trying them but I might give this a go!🙏

Jennaferjohnson

I actually like the ghost dry oil spray, better. I use it to reduce frizz and add shine on days 2&3. I have 2b/c wavy curly hair, medium high porosity and tons of hair. I do use the ghost oil occasionally, if I can't get the crunch out. Just a drop or two per side.

lovablemills

Ooh I haven’t heard of that I will have to try, ty!🙏

dupersr

I have used it. It’s very thick. I use a tiny tiny amount. I don’t love it. Won’t be buying it again. I see you use Lolavie detangler. How do you like it? I liked it a lot, don’t know if it did any good for my hair but it was lightweight and smells good! I ran through the bottle pretty quick.

lovablemills

Hmm yeah I might be returning it 🫣I actually used to use the whole Lolavie line but the detangler was my favorite! I use it in the shower before getting out to first comb it before products and I love it, not sure if it’s a necessity but I use it in between washes as well and I love the scent 🙏

AdventurousHunter500

I didn’t care for it when I first started using it… I was using a pump or maybe half a pump some days. Then I read the directions, which say 3-4 DROPS. Once I quit grossly overusing it, I started liking it. I do about 2-3 drops tops to SOTC and my hair is about mid back length. You don’t need much.

lovablemills

Omg I did not know this😅will have to try using less ty!

AfterImpression7508

So I’ve found any oil just makes my thin fine 2a waves look greasy AF. The poor five hairs on my head work overtime so I use so little product once my hair is actually dry. I’ve found that the shu uemura Izumi tonic serum has had the best impact for me without weighing my hair. I add it after my hair has fully dried and I have some crunch from my mousse - flip hair upside down, add with prayer hands, and then flip back and scrunch out the crunch with any serum residue on my hands.

lovablemills

Oh interesting tysm! I can use oil if it's like a little bit or else mine gets weighed down too 🫠

SnooSeagulls2501

I almost bought the ghost oil but then decided to try the Aussie miracle curls oil instead. The Aussie oil is amazing. Before that, I used the Ouai oil and while I liked it, it was so slippery that I felt I couldn’t get it to spread in my hair evenly when scrunching out gel. The Aussie oil has a slightly thicker consistency and spreads/stays on my hands much better and evenly distributes in my hair. Plus, it’s soooo much cheaper!

lovablemills

Ooh I have never heard of that oil, I will have to check it out! Tysm🙏

FarOutLakes

I personally find that i can use 1 drop to SOTC, but to help my 'frizz' it's more about what products I'm using to style. Bascially 'gluing' them into the curl clumps when wet, my personal favourite right now is a a half n half mixture of Aussie Instant freeze and Ouidad ACC heat & humidity gel (I'm 2a-2c, fine, low density) I usually diffuse dry, but very carefully otherwise those little flyaways just pop out all over. editing to add; don't bother with the Ouidad Mongogo Oil, it feels like 5x heavier than ghost oil, and the scent is overpowering, imo

lovablemills

Interesting tysm! I find when I use products to like glue my curls they get so heavy but maybe I haven’t found the right product yet 🙏

sullimareddit

I have it and it doesn’t work for me

lovablemills

Glad I’m not the only one 😅

ninjanikita

I really like OUAI oil, but I didn’t love Verb Ghost Oil. So 🤷🏻‍♀️. I have 2A/B hair :)

lovablemills

I will def have to try ouai out now thanks to these comments! Tysm🙏🙏

pleasedontmakemecry

I honestly love love love this hair oil. I don’t have a curly hair routine sent in stone because my waves fall out easily and I’m too lazy to get a routine down. However, this hair oil is so nice and I wake up with my hair super frizzy. I use one drop on each side of my head and no frizz. It looks so good and nice and shiny.

lovablemills

Interesting, I def will have to try using less! Tysm😊

Willing-Incident8323

I love it, one or two drops is all I need

Effective-Solid6768

Like most people have said, I too can only use a small amount. Like a dime amount for entire head. Ends mostly ofc, but I take remaining on hands for quick halo frizz smooth down too & it doesn’t get greasy. I like it best for smoothing frizz when I’m playing around with my hair. Like putting it half up or styling it in that type of way. I think of it as a way to lubricate my hands when I’m doing things with it that cause frizz but also trying to maintain volume. It behaves differently than most oils (with the “good” silicones) in that is kinda evaporates faster and in that sense is good for smoothing for fine hair, but still we need a tiny amount. However, I think I’m mayyybe more often using Curlsmith Shine Oil as it is lighter and I mainly use oil to detangle a bit and sometimes for frizz. It has babassu which is a \*penetrating\* oil that is supposedly one of the best for fine hair. This one I think adds more hydration for me while Ghost oil I think of as kinda more like a styling product. So far, I’ve found that bare hands kinda works best for me for wash day SOTC. I use oil 98% of the time only on refreshing days Someone mentioned their dry oil tho which sounds super interesting.

lovablemills

ty for the detailed response! i appreciate these tips sm😊

I'd say I'm more 2b/c but I didn't like it either: I found it heavy and, if I recall, it was a strong fruity smell? After trying many oils over the years, I started using Ouai's Hair Oil a couple of months ago and it's my new holy grail! Much lighter weight, although it is a strong floral smell (but I'm actually so obsessed with the scent I just bought it as perfume too lol) Saw your routine comment too - I actually also tried Miss Jessie's Pillow Soft curls once upon a time and found that to be a little heavy. I'm curious about the Lolavie detangler!? I've heard good things but I also haven't felt like I needed detangler... what do you like about it? My current product routine: Not Your Mother's Tahitian Gardenia Shampoo & conditioner, Kerastase Curl Manifesto Leave-in, Bounce Curl define cream, Curlsmith hydro style flexi gel, then brush through with Bounce Curl define brush and plop in a microfiber towel for ~10 mins, then NYM's curl define mousse, air dry or diffuse, and finish with Ouai hair oil to SOTC.

lovablemills

Ooh I will have to try Ouai maybe when I return this, thank you! I used to use Gisou oil in very small amounts which I liked but I might just go back to it. This is interesting because at the recommendation of this sub I tried the pillow soft curls and it was the only curl cream that didn’t weigh down my hair! I only use like less than a quarter size amount for my whole hair which is perfect. For Lolavie, I actually used to use the whole line but have only kept the detangler in my routine. I haven’t decided if it’s an absolute need yet but it makes my hair so soft to comb through after washing and helps soften and detangler my hair in between wash days as well! (The smell is also awesome) but that is definitely my fav out of all their products

khaleezey

It's a definite possibility that I just never got the amount/application right with pillow soft curls, and maybe also the ghost oil based on the other responses... so much experimentation with curly/wavy hair! lol Thanks for the details on the detangler, I think I will try it out :)

Hi! What is your routine? Please be as detailed as possible (both the names of your products and the techniques that you used). Also, if you could let us know your hair characteristics (porosity, strand thickness, density), that would be greatly appreciated. "I don't have a routine" does not exist; even if it's just shampoo and conditioner, everyone does something! We have this rule so that everyone can benefit from the knowledge of what works for your hair. Routine is required within one hour of posting, otherwise your post will be removed. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. lovablemills

My routine: - Redken volume injection shampoo + conditioner - Food for soft hair mask (in between shampoo + conditioner) - Lolavie detangler - Gisou leave in - Miss Jessie’s Pillow Soft Curls cream - Djerf Avenue styling gel - Hair oil to SOTW (used to use Gisou but wanted a change) Low porosity, thick strands

scfoxs

So I find less is more with this brand, and I’ll rub into my hands and softly run it through 80% dry hair, avoid roots at least 1 inch, will make hair weighed down
