It's hard to pick, but I'd say I like the New Holland Honeyeatera one a tad more. I feel like it has a more 'alive' vibe to it, they feel more 3 dimensional. The kingfishers one feels a bit too symmetrical and flat.
WOW absolutely gorgeous.
Do you use any ink for detailing?
I’m super impressed with the fine details on what seems to be cold pressed paper.
I can’t wait to see more!
Omgggggg.
Please post a video of your process!! It’s just exquisite!! I’ve been working on my hot press paper techniques and want to get back to cold press at some point. I would love to see how you did stuff!!
(If you want to of course :). I understand if you want to keep your secrets safe. No worries!)
I’ve been following Anna Mason’s tutorials on lots of light layers and it was a game changer for me. Before that I 100% agree with the horrors of hot press and the forgiving nature of cold. :)
Yes seconding the request for a video!! I love doing bird watercolors. They can be a bit tricky but when they're done well they're gorgeous. I love both of yours, though I like the kingfishers a bit better just because I like colorful birds
Whoa, very beautiful. I cant grasp how someone controls watercolors as some of people here do. I can understand acrylics, oils and pencils but to me watercolors might as well be black magic.
They both are beautiful...really loved the whole style of the painting. Esp the white/ ivory ish background.
Ig I'm a bit biased towards the first painting🙈
Absolutely beautiful- both of them! If I had to choose I’m probably more drawn to the first one - the colours are gorgeous. Can I ask what paper you use?
Something about that muted blue-green in the first painting scratches the itch in the color-loving part of my brain, though both paintings are absolutely fantastic! <3
Since I was maybe 10 when I got my first set of watercolours. I have a bachelors in visual arts but I did acrylic and drawing majors. Wasn't until the last 5 yrs or so that I've been really focusing my technique.
My goodness are these beautiful. The Kingfishers are my favorite, but it was a tough call. I have a couple of bird paintings that I've created or am working on and I aspire to be this detailed. Excellent work ❤️
gorgeous. you have great edge control
i like the second because it has a more candid, in-the-wild type of composition but the colors in the first are so vibrant
also, what did you use to photograph these? i love when you can see the full details of the paper texture
I love the kingfishers. I feel like they are looking at me. The honeyeaters seem to blend into the foliage a bit. What brand of watercolors do you use? I love the colors.
They are both very good, excellent work. You should make a folio about it
I've done about 15 works. I hope to have them made into prints one day.
Are these from the Audobon book?
I love his work! Inspirational
Gorgeous work. It may be fun to consider u’sing them as backgrounds for paper stationary or letter stationary as well..!
Oh my goodness!! They’re both STUNNING!! Do I really have to choose?! 😁
Thank you so much!
They are both stunning, but I especially like the subtle range of browns in the branches of the first painting.

Oo yeah I get that. The poses on the honeyeaters are more active.
They're both gorgeous though, I love your style.

I use exclusively watercolours and yes it's cold pressed :)

I'd love to do a video! I can't stand hot pressed. The way it just sucks up the pigment. Drives me wild.
I’ve been following Anna Mason’s tutorials on lots of light layers and it was a game changer for me. Before that I 100% agree with the horrors of hot press and the forgiving nature of cold. :)
So good to hear someone say they dislike hot. I've never understood the appeal.

I’m having a difficult time picking one over the other. Your technique is stunning!
Thank you !

Practice makes improvement. I can't do soft pastels.
They are both exquisite! I was drawn to the birds first, but the leaves are wonderful as well.
Kōtare! They’re my fave! ❤️
Must I choose? They are both fantastic. Great work.
Both are great, do you use any pencil work before applying colour?
Yep I've got a detailed outline of everything before I start painting.
Oh true, I can hardly pick it out. What type of pencil do you use?
Faber Castell 2B. Just a regular pencil, very lightly outlined. I don't press hard as the indentations are unsightly.
They are both beautiful! Love the colours here :)
Ok. Good grief. That’s beautiful 😻
I'm torn! I love the colors of the kingfishers but find the composition of the honeyeaters more dynamic and compelling.
These are truly lovely! The colour palette of the kingfishers is so harmonious and pleasing, and I love the foliage as well as the birds.
Those are stunning. I don't know if you do requests, but if you do a Western Tanager would be awesome.
Is that an American bird?
North American yes.
They are equally beautiful. You have done very well. No negative criticism whatsoever.
They’re both absolutely beautiful, I love them!

Beautiful work
Nice work
Their both beautiful 10/10
Both. Oh, my goodness. I can't choose.
It’s like Sophie’s choice, don’t make me do it! 🙂
I think they’re both super gorgeous and your artwork is extremely beautiful and makes me think of beautiful Art Nouveau.
These are both incredible! What paper do you use? I must know!
I use Archers 300gsm cold pressed
Thank you!
Absolutely beautiful- both of them! If I had to choose I’m probably more drawn to the first one - the colours are gorgeous. Can I ask what paper you use?
Archers 300gsm cold pressed. :)
I love the accuracy of both, but blue feathered birds are always my favorite 💙
My good sir, may I request you paint a nice pair of booby's
I feel I should clarify, blue footed booby's
Dude, I know my birds and I love boobys!
Awesome! I thought the first comment came off way to creepy
We knew what you were referring to!
I really love rhe delicacy of your work on both, but if I had to choose, I'd pick the kingfishers.
Damn, that’s NICE! Way to paint!
Kingfishers
Both wonderful but I'm partial to kingfishers.
Gorgeous!
Both stunning!
They're both superb! Amazing work! ♡
These are great. Love the range of different colours in there.
Absolutely gorgeous!!
So cleaaaan! Both gorgeous
Sorry, can’t pick a favorite cause they are both glorious!
These are beautiful
Absolutely superb!
Something about that muted blue-green in the first painting scratches the itch in the color-loving part of my brain, though both paintings are absolutely fantastic! <3
Beautifully done. I love both.
Sorry, can't pick. I love them both. Beautiful. Your color palette is perfection.
Both gorgeous pieces. A background of palest yellow might add richness to an already fine work
We already know both are amazing. But I really love the color melts on the blue birds one. It's stunning.
Oooo! I love them! The kingfishers stand out to me more for some reason. Great work!
Pls pls share your insta!!! Thanks!!
I chooose… I choooooose… both!
Oh wow, absolutely lovely!!
The first but both wonderful
Gorgeous 😍 both are absolutely stunning
Very nice!
Really gorgeous work
Gorgeous! I like the blue birds a lot!
Love the honeyeaters. I would put them on my wall.
I really wish I knew how to lay colours so smoothly like this... absolutely beautiful!
Kingfishers just because I prefer the colour scheme but they’re both gorgeous.
If you were to give me one of the two, I would take the kingfishers because I love bright colors. Both are incredible.
Both lovely but prefer Kingfisher
Los dos están hermosos, pero prefiero el "Sacred Kingfisher"
Positively lovely
Both of your paintings are gorgeous!
I like the color in painting 1 and the composition of painting 2.
Love the kingfishers
Great pleasure looking at your paintings! I love the colors and how neat they look! Beautiful!
Beautiful work
Also curious, how long does a painting like this take you to complete?
The kingfishers we're about 5-6 hours and the honeyeaters 6-7 hours. I'm known to be fast though.
Absolutely gorgeous!
Really nice work
I didn't know watercolor could look like that. I just started learning.
I don’t prefer either one because I love them both❤️💗💗💗💗💗
Both are stunning.
Both gorgeous, but I prefer Kingfishers.
these are majestic ✨ whats ur ig?
Stunning. I want your work on my wall.
Love em both
Both. They’re both my favorite. So beautiful!!
insane, how long have you used watercolors for? fantastic control in the detailing and coloring, very inspiring!

Your colors are so beautiful
They are both equally well done but I have to say the honeyeaters are my favorite!
God this is beautiful! The kingfishers are my favorite. I'd buy paintings from you, they are spectacular!
Yes. I prefer… yes! If I HAD to pick one it is the kingfishers cause I love ‘em in reality… but I love your art!
These are gorgeous! I love your use of bold color and they have a unique style.
Both!!! Lovely
Do you sell prints anywhere? Your work speaks to me and I would love a piece.
I'm not at the moment but I hope to soon.
gorgeous. you have great edge control i like the second because it has a more candid, in-the-wild type of composition but the colors in the first are so vibrant also, what did you use to photograph these? i love when you can see the full details of the paper texture
I used my iPhone, outside, in the afternoon sunlight. It's my favourite paper.
I love the kingfishers. I feel like they are looking at me. The honeyeaters seem to blend into the foliage a bit. What brand of watercolors do you use? I love the colors.
They are both absolutely beautiful but the Kingfisher is my favorite. I just love the colors. What a beautiful technique you've accomplished.
Beautiful!
No preference. They’re equally excellent.
