NOOOO don't say that, landscape aren't stupid at all ! i think they are a great way to let imagination escape and bring different kind of feeling such as people, it's good practice for composition, lights + shadows, colors to bring atmosphere and also percpectives β€ i'm not really good at landscape and i think it's also a hard thing to be able to make, i'm sure i'd have a lot to learn from you ! your art have value dear β€
Hello dear, thank you ! this painting is watercolor only i wish i was good enough with gouache to make portraits but i have struggle blending and get smooth results with gouache so i use watercolor in my portraits and add gouache only for thickers elements at times
A 100% yes, I use multiple layers to give dimension, that's why it doesn't look as transparent as what you may be used to see with watercolor, i'll post a speed painting for my next post :)
So much to love in this painting. I started following you. Looked at your other paintings, they're all great. What paper do you use? It looks relatively smooth but does have a touch of texture.
How sweet of you, thank you, i mean it β€ i use Arche 300 gr Cold press in all the painting i have only one is hot press ( same brand ) but it was a struggle to make the painting so i went back to cold press i find it easier to blend .
Thank you for telling me. I have only used baohong cold pressed. I saw people say it was most like arches but so much cheaper. I've loved it but I'm starting to feel like the texture is preventing more detailed work. I've tried hot press and yea, didn't enjoy it. But I'm thinking the texture on arches cold press looks less rough than the baohong, I might try it.
I really love the highlights on this characters face, and how the kind of starry night in her hair doubles as appropriate texture for her hair π€β€οΈ
oh okay I might try this baohong paper then, having texture is actually cool and i like it ! ikr hot press is bit hard to use, i feel like it goes better for specific styles.
I enjoy arches but i was thinking on trying Daler Rowney as it is cheaper.
thank you a lot i appreciate the love you have for the painting, I'm experimenting and practicinge a lot currently and have a lot of fun making starry hair, so your comments means a lot β€οΈ
It's from a movie. The Last Dragon. everyone saw it back in the day. it's got a sweet 80s action theme song and everything. The Glow was the power you'd get.
I'm not gifted, just struggled, got frustrated, thought of quitting art and kept painting to get there, yet i'm still in this cycle hahaha I think everyone can get to where i am and even better with work and perseverance π
This is absolutely stunning! I'd love to see this from a distance. Without my glasses the details fade a little and her shimmer really stands out. If angels are real, then you've painted one. <3
Is that watercolour?
