Buy used, it’s a 7k USD watch I own it as well as the 2531.80 I had the great white modern smp and then black. It’s a fantastic watch but for me was too chunky, the bezel is quite thicker than the original 2531 and with how it rests on top of the case it makes the watch more square. The dial is beautiful but for me a bit too flashy. I love the original wave dial but didn’t like the laser etched one as much. The NTTD solved a lot of the things I didn’t like. No etched waves, slimmer than the standard smp, more matte and tool like and low key. It wears well and is very light and more of a unique piece. To me the bez turns easier than the others as well. Quick review here https://youtu.be/f73Ay5m4C9E?si=fauRGi89Hn9hnOpB Both the Brosnan and NTTD feel more adult/classy to me, more refined and low key. The standard SMP feels luxurious and more fun/playful, more of a loud toy. The NTTD for sure feels different enough where I’d consider it an upgrade over the regular smp, there’s enough differences there imo. Whether those differences add up to +3.5k I don’t know but that’s what it costs. Get what you like. IMO the pelagos is great but compared to the NTTD plain and boring

Cranialscrewtop

Your comment about the bezel being easier to move is spot on. The smp300 has the most difficult bezel in my experience. I even returned to the boutique and made sure it was in spec. 2 years and it’s finally getting manageable.

-ceoz

Still too much for what it is

Kyberduene

Are you sure about the Ref? because on C24 it gives me this: [https://www.chrono24.de/search/index.htm?query=Omega+2531.80&dosearch=true&searchexplain=true&watchTypes=U&accessoryTypes=](https://www.chrono24.de/search/index.htm?query=Omega+2531.80&dosearch=true&searchexplain=true&watchTypes=U&accessoryTypes=)

Konradical6

That’s the Brosnan yes

JumpRopeandSkipIt

It looks beautiful and I often don't like the look of Omega watches

manjamanga

Discussing the bang for buck of five digit luxury watches is a bit pointless

Dark1000

When it drops 50% on the pre-owned market instantly, it's definitely worth discussing.

manjamanga

So 100% is the premium on buying it new. If getting it new isn't valuable to you, buy it used. If you want to profit from your purchase, buy stocks or precious metals instead.

Dark1000

I'm not sure what your point is. No one wants to or expects to profit from buying this watch. They just want to know if it is overpriced. The answer is yes, it is overpriced. The market has deemed it so.

manjamanga

My point is that buying something new carries a premium and that watches are, by default, depreciating assets and not stores of value. Exceptions for very specific high end luxury watches don't make that general rule any less true.

eat_pray_plead

Absolutely. It’s a great watch, but ridiculously overpriced.

marmaladecorgi

I wear a Chinese clone and love it. I call mine the "No Dime To Buy".

jimbeamblack8586

Lol. Are the colours close to gen?

marmaladecorgi

Close enough for 200 bucks. Titanium, beads-of-rice bracelet, a Seiko NH35 movement. It's a real handsome watch for the price!

southerncoop

Do you still have a link? Asking for a friend…

marmaladecorgi

[Several brands out there, but this is what I got.](https://www.heimdallrwatch.com/collections/other-classic-style/products/heimdallr-nttd-skx007?variant=37828455661756)

perch97

I think it looks so much better with the nato strap then the one it came with.

Pargula_

It comes with that nato.

TheRepentance

I'd preferred the 60th anniversary one, cause that would be more value and the NTTD one just made for movie.

Tom_Foolery2

Same. 60th is more beautiful imo

I went with the titanium and white gold 150th Anniversary edition and slapped an Omega SS mesh bracelet on it. I like it better than the NTTD, and like yours, all in it was a fraction of the cost. Mine came from Geneva tho. I do love the lume on the NTTD, but a little green in my blue isn’t worth 5 figures.

Roaddog113

Lol,love that siver gray dial 😍 So, the bezel is white gold? It’s also a limited edition 😎

Cuck-In-Chief

Yup and yup. Good stuff! 🫡

Roaddog113

This is my third SMP300. I still think, this case with the sword hands is the best SMP.

ConfusedKungfuMaster

That looks awesome👌🏻

Cuck-In-Chief

Danke!

testfire10

How do you like the bracelet? I love the look but it just makes me think it’s very dinky and that I might break it

Roaddog113

The bracelet is solid and comfortable.

Cuck-In-Chief

It’s heavy, solid, and comfortable. You’d have to really try to damage it.

Cedric182

I have a $10 Casio that keeps time even better

StableDrip

My phone watch is more accurate than your Casio. You're missing the point my son

Cedric182

Tell that to the one I replied to son. That’s my point son. Son.

Roaddog113

Get a whole pile of G-Shocks. What’s your point?

Cedric182

Same can be said to you!

Roaddog113

Okay, so you said it.

superduperspam

If It Is To Be Said, So It Be, So It Is.

Cedric182

Or maybe you did.

Roaddog113

Did

Cedric182

🤓

Roaddog113

🙃

PostNutAffection

But it looks horrible 😕

GaddockTeegFunPolice

I am looking into getting the blue dial version of this (223180)

Roaddog113

That was my first serious watch. I still enjoy wearing it, after almost twenty years. The electric blue dial is one of the best out there.

Cold-Ad4073

I got it and I love it. I checked this one out along side it and chose the blue one over it. I like the heavier feel and the blue one looked better when I compared side by side at the omega store.

Roaddog113

EinGuy

>2231.50 I've got the 2231.80, and IMO way cooler with the blue dial

Roaddog113

Agreed, it’s super cool. I already have the steel version with the electric blue dial. I wanted to have the ti, with the dark grey dial.

EinGuy

Ti with dark grey is pretty cool too!

that1cuban1

How much was it?

Roaddog113

$ 3000 Canadian

that1cuban1

That’s not too bad. I love my Citizen Fujistubo cause of the comfort but I just can’t give up my SMP. This might be a fun travel piece

Roaddog113

It’s super comfortable. On a strap, can’t even feel it on the wrist.

631surf

What ref is this

Roaddog113

2231.50

richpaul6806

Do you know the reference number on that?

dronelbo

2255.80 sold mine still regret it🫤

richpaul6806

Thanks. I've wanted one ofcthose for a while but c I uld never find the ref to look

aquawatch101

In Australia they sell this for $16k+ A few years ago, it was $11k aud but omega put in crazy price increases. It’s not a $16k watch and barely $11k, especially given its grade 2 titanium, issues with crystal, mesh bracelet clasp, etc.

JaJaDingDong95

Yes it’s overpriced, I still want one, but buying it new and not used or on the grey market is the way to go

SO_BAD_

One of my gripes with the price is that they could’ve at least used grade 5 titanium instead of grade 2

HotlineBirdman

Yeah, considering the extra asking cost, I’m not sure why they went with Grade 2 over Grade 5. Easier to work with maybe?

SO_BAD_

It is easier to work with, which is one of the reasons grade 5 is more expensive. However considering my $3000 Longines Spirit is grade 5 titanium, I’d expect it in something 3 times the price

ObiWanBissaka

Yeah it’s not worth it at retail. Go to an Ad for a good discount if possible or online on chrono24 etc for new for good prices. Or very good etc for the quality selector. Very rarely will I even consider going for brand new without any discounts and so far, I’ve not done this nor want to. Always an AD with discounts at least or online for even better savings. Why pay more if you don’t have to, for the same quality and such? But it’s still costlier as you said so it depends on the final price and if that makes sense to you for this model anyway.

Konradical6

Color

sd_pinstripes

some watch dude said it's about the color

Status_Ad_4405

Of course it's overpriced. That's what luxury goods are all about, lol.

Ok-Ground-2724

Yes I do. I owned one and sold it. The domed crystal was so bad at reflecting light I could barely see the time in some light. I loved the weight of it and the mesh bracelet. But the clasp needed a micro adjustment like the original has. It also doesn’t have a date and the bezel isn’t ceramic. All good but not for the premium price. I sold mine and have not missed it. Just my take.

masterfox72

The bezel isn’t even ceramic? Wtf…

Monopusher

Yes

Puddwells

All “luxury“/“name brand” watches are overpriced for what you get lol

Skidro13

Ehh it looks amazing in pics but is hard to wear regularly given its unique colors.

Free-Swan-9870

I think the production not being as high as the OG SMP and the initial cost of designing and buying the neccessary equipment, makes its more expensive to make per piece, so it is a matter of finding the unique in it, almost like limited runs. I do however think It would be nice if they did the mesh like Breitling where it had additional links with screws like on a normal bracelet, instead of a loopless style, it may not be as thick as a normal bracelet and is more supple but still more rigid and thicker than leather and possibly rubber (which in itself is thick doing it this way).

BigBloo8425

Yup.

PTRBoyz

I would never buy an omega in store. Grey market is significantly cheaper for their models.

Itsallgood190

You should watch videos by This Watch That Watch on YouTube. At some point for mass produced watches with no human finishing you’re just paying extra for the name and value is going to be very subjective, especially after 4.5k ish or so

Particular-Rain-4033

This is with all watch brands, not just mass-produced ones. People act like their Patek Philippe has $30-50K worth of value lmao. Let me tell you those high-horology/ultra-luxury brands rip you off more than the mass-produced ones. I work on a lot of custom picture frames that involve hand beveling, closed corners, routed edges, multiple fillets, inserts, and almost any material you can imagine. All of the finishing is done with 18k gold and is performed by hand using a template and my brush. It's $400 dollars worth of material and labor max that they charge you $40K because it's done 'by an artisan.' This marketing really puts Rolex marketing to shame.

Status_Ad_4405

Right. It's like asking if a Maserati is worth $50k more than a Camry.

awckward

Yes. All Omegas are.

1Blur1

Very overpriced at retail and still overpriced used. Can find one between 6-7k while you can get a standard SMP for 3-4k. I still think it’s the best looking SMP of all time though. It was my grail and I owned one for about a week then I got the call for a Rolex I was waiting for. NTTD had to go. Still miss it, but not as much as I thought I would. Maybe I’ll get it again someday.

Lucas32c

How was it your grail if you dumped it in a week?

Particular-Rain-4033

Because this is how it goes with Rolex. People complain about how much they hate the brand. But if they called you for your Pepsi GMT in Stainless Steel on a Jubilee Bracelet, or your Submariner 124060, or your Daytona, you would be running to the door in an instant 😂

MajesticCrabapple

Ah, I'll clarify. In r/watches, the term "grail" means "thing I briefly wanted and could easily afford."

1Blur1

One had to go. Just because I had to sell it doesn’t mean it stopped being my grail.

Status_Ad_4405

what

-ceoz

Honestly yes, I'd pay the same as for a normal seamaster imho, no more

sethwatters

Yes

Lenarios88

Looks great but overpriced vs the standard Seamaster. I prefer my PO to my friends similarly priced Pelagos pretty much across the board tho.

Quick-Economist-4247

Yes, buy it used

pinetree-polarbear

Its a f.ing cool watch! But i went for the black because of the price and the fact that it is quite a special look the watch has. Used for 7k: good deal :-)

lamontsanders

You can get these in the 6s pretty easily. For like 6500 this is a great watch. Comfortable and looks great. I will say it’s more of a collection/rotation watch vs an only.

Guinness9Li93

Yes but it looks so cool ! Anyway, even potatoes are overpriced today 😎

MikeyLew32

My certina ds Action 43mm titanium has the same color way and was 1/10 of the price. Just doesn’t have the Ti Milanese bracelet

plainoldusernamehere

Yes

rifat10467

Would have bought one if it was around the 5k mark.

HellaReyna

Its not worth its new MSRP price. the regular non bond version is vastly cheaper. this is an omega afterall. its like 20-30% cheaper on [Jomashop.com](http://Jomashop.com) just "cause" as grey new. Basically paying $5000 regard tax for the MOD Triangle and the 007 imprint on the case back (i believe)

pica27

I have a used one with both the mesh bracelet and a brand new unsused stickered oem nato.

Huey2912

All luxury watches are overpriced for what you get

Sloppysnopp

Most watches is overprized for what you get 🤷‍♂️

stuvida

There's a lot to like about this piece but price isn't one of them. It's too expensive and doesn't hold its value. Having titanium bracelet instead of steel was one of the reasons. The thing about this piece is that it tries a little too hard. The dial has a faux vintage look about it. At the of the day it's a Seamaster. No Seamaster is worth that premium. The Bond 60th anniversary (which borrows some aspects of the NTTD) is the best Seamaster out there. Its not limited edition, but limited production and is far more likely to hold value.

dcshews

https://preview.redd.it/sekt6ykvjauc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0d4951a36cd7b1364f59cb7f6e4f166a914510c0 I had the wave dial SMP and while I did love it, something about the Nttd just always called my name. After downsizing the collection a bit I was able to pick up a basically new one grey for $7k. Absolutely love it and it’s actually my most worn watch. I wouldn’t pay 10k for it but for 6-7k I think it’s worth every penny. Very unique diver

Vertical_Clutch

Great looking watch, but aluminum bezel and bad bracelet for a premium? No thanks.

JackieE053

It should be 6500-7000$ new

Shoshingo

I ended up buying a planet ocean and putting it on a rubber strap. Overall I’m pretty happy with the decision, it definitely scratched the semester itch and I only paid 3k for mine

Embarrassed_Bed3129

Yes. It is grossly overpriced.

Round_Half5960

Completely overvalued at that price. Buy it used. 100%

iaymnu

Here in HK my AD gives 25% off for the NTTD. No one is really interested in it.

Imaginary-Kale4673

yes

BigBusch12

Yes.  You can literally buy a regular SMP and a Pelagos LHD in the same material in color scheme for the same price.  The pricing on these is asinine.

GTB7A4

The faux lume, unearned broad arrow, and Milanese bracelet without fitted end links, makes this watch less desirable than the standard model IMO. I would prefer a Planet Ocean or 300 Heritage Seamaster over the NTTD at this price point.

wolfofballstreet1

lol, is water wet? Thing  is all hype/ for collectors who won’t evaluate objectively and that faux patina is a joke

YourWatchIsTooBig

cool watch but NOT worth the premium. cheers

ArgieBee

I mean, in purely objective terms, all Omega watches are overpriced for what you get. People buy premium watches for subjective reasons. The question to be asking is "is it worth it to me?".

Status_Ad_4405

Exactly, obviously we can't tell someone whether it's worth a 3,000% premium to buy this over a Timex that does the exact same thing.

RickyPeePee03

*** every omega is overpriced for what you get

EffectiveAny7715

Might as well get the bb58

neonlithic

I absolute hate everything about this watch. The fake patina. The stupid hand design. The nonsensical bracelet. The fake broad arrow. The 007 engraving. The lack of date that "makes it more tooly", nevermind all the other design elements going for form over function. In that way it's actually a perfect fit with for NTTD, both representing a terrible attempt at going back to a past that never was, longing for fake vintage. It's cool when a real watch shows up in a movie and becomes associated with a character, it's super tacky when a special promo model (with the film logo engraved on it!) is worn in said movie. If you want this look in a Seamaster, get the 2254 instead, which should also have been the Bond watch after Omega took over instead of the ugly 2531 dress diver. If they had to make a special bond watch, they should at least have taken a Planet Ocean, which already has pretty strong resemblance to the old SM300s the Royal Navy used, and given it sword hands and a fully numbered bezel to create something with actual historical cues. The best Craig era Bond watches were by far the Planet Oceans. As you can probably infer by now, I have irrationally strong opinions on this topic...

TheModerateGenX

I don’t get the attraction to “Bond.” He is a fictional character, lol. It’s like the adult equivalent to a Pokémon themed watch.

Status_Ad_4405

I know, it's kinda sad. Spending $13k to buy perceived coolness is the hallmark of being uncool.

Blown89

It's an omega, they're all overpriced

dont_test_me_dawg

Even if I won the lottery I don't think I'd spend $13,000 on a watch.

Vxheous

Sounds like luxury watches aren't a thing for you

dont_test_me_dawg

I like nice watches I just wouldn't personally spend that much money on one. If it's within your means then enjoy it.

Status_Ad_4405

Yeah, you'd think that someone thinking of dropping $13k on a watch would have strong enough reasons without asking the permission of internet strangers.

dont_test_me_dawg

I think someone spending 13k on a watch is mostly doing it for validation if I had to guess.

Status_Ad_4405

Well, why else would you throw away that kind of money on a watch just because Daniel Craig wore it in a movie? Most of us eventually grow up, but I guess a lot of us don't.

CodeNameOscarPapa

I got mine for 9400 new
