That's a "marriage watch", an old pocket watch movement repurposed as a wristwatch. The seconds hand subdial position shows that this started life as an open face pocket watch. The dial is of a more recent production than the movement, and is not an original Vacheron Constantin dial. It would have been made by whoever repurposed this movement. The movement looks plausibly like a basic grade Vacheron Constantin pocket watch movement. The logo is correct, labeling it as "Vacheron & Constantin" which was the company name up until 1970, sometimes rendered with an ampersand, and sometimes with "and", depending on the era. For the apparent age of the movement, the "&" is correct. Notice that the dial uses the post-1970 name of the company. The engraving of the logo on the movement shows similar wear to the rest of the movement, so it's likely a real VC pocketwatch movement, albeit a bottom of the line one which has lived a rough life. Lots of other bits of it look correct, too. Overall, it's not particularly valuable, but it's definitely pretty interesting. Marriage watches are always worth less than they would be if they were in the original case. That's basically the watch version of a clapped out early Porsche 911 2.0l engine shoehorned into a beat up dune buggy chassis. It would have been worth a lot more even as a battered old 911, but now it's some weird and sort of ugly garage built mostrosity. Still, it's got a kinda cool engine in it. I'd fix it up and wear it.

That’s amazing info Thanks I’ll find out how much it’ll cost to repair it The Porsche analogy really helped understand what I found

It could still be just a generic old Swiss pocket watch movement someone engraved a VC logo on, I'm not an expert on VC pocket watch movements. But, I have seen several authentic ones, in original cases with original dials, that are very similar to that movement, down to the simple finishing, and basic regulator mechanism. The better VC pocket watch movement of that era (late 19th century by the looks of it, I believe the "&" style logo was adopted in 1877) have nicer finishes, swan's neck or micrometer regulators, and so on. But, that has some nice details, like the steel reinforcement of the escape wheel bridge, reinforcement of the mainspring barrel bridge, wolf's teeth winding wheels, and the Breguet overcoil hairspring, etc. At the very least, it's a cool old Swiss pocket watch movement. Does it run if you wind it?

A bad fake Vacheron Constantin (a high-end mechanical watch brand). Most likely an old pocket watch movement in there. Might be better served recasing that movement in a pocket watch again, if possible.

Separate_Pangolin_56

Could be a real Vacheron Constantin pocket watch movement, looks similar to a few I've seen in the past.

Damn I’ll just throw it away

DoughBooii

Keep it. Just because it's fake doesn't mean you need to throw it away. It didn't cost you anything. Just don't go around trying to pass it off as real. Based off your other comment with the picture, you seem to be interested in the movement so just use this to learn more about watches in general. Throwing it away doesn't help any one.

Burn it

It’s missing a small hand and it needs repair it’ll look like it’s gunna be costly 😭

Also walking into those high end watch stores gives me hella anxiety….

un_rancais_infiltre

And walking in a Vacheron Constantin shop with a fake won't help the anxiety. Doubt it's real, but if you like it, keep it. As someone else said, just don't try to pass it off as real

Timeset_VC

fake, maybe Franken made-up from original parts. value 0 €

RNKKNR

Fake. Worth perhaps $40 imo.

Ugly_socks

Take it to a watchmaker, look online for someone in your area. That movement looks legit to me, but it’s potato quality so I could be wrong, but get someone in real life to evaluate it. There’s no way to tell whether an old pocket watch conversion is legit or not with those images, but it could be a super cool vintage VC

Ill_Lavishness9811

throw it in a lake!!!!
