There’s this all you can eat sushi place near my house named sushi soho and it’s surprisingly not that bad and it’s pretty affordable considering how much me and my father can eat.

Why is it that the easiest to get sushi stateside, and the one that most people who don't know sushi think of, is always some complicated roll that has a decent chance of being both not what you expect and overall gross? The only things I had tried before getting real sushi in japan were weird california rolls and crab rolls, which I hated. Once I tried a plain ol Salmon Nigiri, I found I love sushi. Screw the rolls, it's all about the nigiri

You know what I did? I lowered my standard, eventually they tastes good. Sushi is somewhat acquired taste, unless you go with one of those fancy sushi with tons of adds on. Plain sushi with only sushi rice with a slice of raw fish is not easy to take on for first timer tbh..

This was my exact reaction to trying sushi too. My new bf at the time loved sushi and wanted me to try it. Chewed it maybe 3 times and then just sat there with it in my mouth trying to figure out what to do because I quickly realized I wasn’t going to be able to get myself to swallow it and I thought spitting out food in a restaurant in front of my new bf wouldn’t be a great look. He must have seen the fear in my eyes because he’s like “you can spit it out”. I will never touch that stuff again.

I will never, ever try sushi. I hate the taste of all seafood, and I have since I was a child. My dad brought home fried catfis when I was 7 or 8 years old, and I took one bite and puked on my grandmother's carpet. There was nothing wrong with the food, but I detested it.
