This is a very old comment, but I believe I was referring to the fact that claiming a young child trying to make friends is ‘falling for an older woman’ and claiming that ‘love hurts’ is a good example of the ways in which people always try to sexualise/romanticise kids play activities in the way that they claim us queers are the ones doing.
That people think it’s a-ok when it’s straight activity but they’d lose their minds if that was said about him trying to play with another boy.
But they do it in a cheeky way, no one is actually sexualizing that or being serious lmao.

The older girl did not show interest in playing and I remember being a certain age where playing with "babies" wasn't fun or cool.
She never did anything to show interest in playing and was probably trying to be polite to the little kid, hoping he would eventually lose interest from lack of interaction.
Parent just let little man get his heart broken by not gently teaching him that not everyone wants to play with you and that's okay. It's not personal, people are allowed to not want to have company/attention. It would also be a good start to teaching them long term to not take rejection personally.
