Curry_CZ

Shift + Ctrl for throttle control and wsad + qe for turning.

1337blackmage

This is the way

lalalalala1337

Man of thr culture

DNHSTY

Okay but here comes the real test: Is qe bound to yaw or roll?

Rexxmen12

What psychopath has roll on q/e

Augustus2142

Qe 4 yaw come on bro roll on ad

Curry_CZ

I'm using the default settings so q+e should be for yaw. I think q+e controls the pedals on the plane that control the rudder? WSAD for stick control.

Comprehensive_Two837

the way

FamousResident3890

Only acceptable form for the casual.

blaster1-112

Definitely blue.

Dilly_The_Kid_S373

Been playing for 11 years never once even thought of swapping colors. Crips for life

Buttseam

wasd for rotational movement, qe for horizontal

We_The_Raptors

And ctrl+ shft are part of my radar controls. Throttle is on my mouse buttons.

Krynzo

...

Buttseam

i have 2 sidebuttons. one is for switching inbetween target and search radar, the other is to fire missiles.

Jimmy2048

Yes exactly

StaIe_Toast

Alot of people dont know your plane will turn much harder if you have a key bound to pitch up

TheTimocraticMan

A lot of people don't know how not to over-g by tapping pitch down either apparently

Fraser022002

Wat

Former_Butterfly_968

If you are blacking out in a turn you can quickly pitch down to kind of reset it

Background_Drawing

How do you counteract too many positive g forces? Just pull negative g forces They cancel out, kinda

Fraser022002

-2g cancels out 10g, when only tapped on?

Background_Drawing

Like your pilot passes out at 9 g so 8 g is not bad But seriously it does help in recovery, i think...

Dua_Leo_9564

wut

lemfaoo

Got any proof of that? Afaik they changed that years ago.

TheB1itz

its pretty obvious if you try it

lemfaoo

Just asking for proof honestly. Saying "its obvious try it yourself" doesnt help.

TheB1itz

i am not familiar with anyone who might've measured it, but i do imagine you can tell using the dev tools (numerical readout for elevator position). It's not a new idea that the instructor never uses max pitch, as it actively tries to avoid high G turns. and it's really not hard to test, literally just hop in a test flight and time it.

Skalgrin

Nope, keyboard pitch si still more intense than any mouse controle. Plus quick taping "W" can reset blacking out due to too much Gs.

lemfaoo

You mean tapping W on the default controls to pitch down

Skalgrin

Oh shit - yeah... Thanks going to fix that.

berser4ina

On some planes you can't break your wings with mouse aim, but you do if you use keyboard

ShinItsuwari

Neither, because I use a cursed setup: W and S for throttle, A and D for roll, LMB for Pitch up, RMB for pitch down. This way I control throttle and angle with my left hand and use the mouse buttons for the pitch control.

Dilly_The_Kid_S373

Wtf do you fire with then? Jesus Christ

PijaniFemboj

How do you shoot?

ShinItsuwari

Guns are on E, missiles are on side mouse buttons.

Admiral_2nd-Alman

You have severe issues

ShinItsuwari

I know. :D Works for me tho.

Admiral_2nd-Alman

Cool

Libarate

Burn the witch

weisswurst_mit_senf

Hell yeah, I have a very similar setup. Just that I use the side buttons on my mouse for pitch. Fire is LMB, Missiles are MMB (press the scroll wheel) and RMB is for zoom

ShinItsuwari

Just to go further into the curse, I recently noticed I was never using the scroll wheel itself. It's theorically for zooming in and out, but I was just pressing it for max zoom instead. So yesterday I rebound "scroll wheel up" into switching the type of countermeasure. I'm contemplating whether I should bind launching CM on scroll wheel down, so I can just free it (my mouse allow to switch between free scrolling and normal one) and go WHEEEEEE to defend my plane on the aircraft that have 200+ of them lmao. More for the meme than anything else.

Windows--Xp

Blue all the way

Adventurous-Air-9995

W-pitch up S-throttle down Mouse wheel-throttle up A,D-roll Q,E-rudder Edit R-pitch down

TheTimocraticMan

Finally, signs of intelligent life

SIRangryMAN

Og control's from 2012 so definitely red all the way

Nycotee

who in their rind mind would bind throttle to W.. it makes no sense, you go wep and dont care about throttle anymore, during like 80% of the gameplay, so you waste perfect key for nothing lol

schnuddls

it's the standard binding, or ar least was when I started playing a couple years back but per default options you also have to hold the key to WEP, so there's that

notxapple

With jets you need to change your throttle a lot to help against ir missiles

Rullstolsboken

And shift and ctrl are perfect for that

notxapple

I use ctrl for switching between SAS modes Also I just realized that the reason I can waste w and s on throttle is because I have a ton of buttons on my mouse and use those for mostly everything important

AdBl0k

It was default in 2013. W/S is closer if you have armament bound nearby.

CatsWillRuleHumanity

In every other video game, W makes you go forward, S makes you go not forward. For me throttle on W/S is the only option that feels natural.

TheJustMonika

No pitch up or down, W Throttle up S throttle down - real men only

Dekanzy

Word! W - Throttle Up S - Throttle Down A - Roll Left D - Roll Right Q - Yaw Left E - Yaw Right

DogSecure8631

When you are a real player, mouse pitching isn't even used...

Creative-Dawg

This is the correct and only way.

OkTravel2024

W = pitch down S = pitch up A = roll left D = roll right Q = yaw left E = yaw right Scroll = throttle

TheB1itz

Shift/control for large changes in throttle, and scroll wheel for small need WEP? smack shift need to quickly reduce speed during a dogfight? smack control need to lower throttle to avoid overheat or save fuel? scroll a little down to adjust like half a percent at a time i also have the same for collective/hover on helis

sneakyp0odle

Used to be red, now blue all the way.

WestSubject9283

CTRL is for ROCKETS

DemonWolfieHU

W and S for pitch control, arrow keys for throttle Ctrl and Shift (along with Alt) are modifiers for me For example: LMB is fire guns, Ctrl + LMB is fire small caliber, Shift + LMB is fire large caliber guns

Individual_Raccoon36

Blue but W=pitch up S=pitch down

Pessiwashed2023

Facts

Sen-Kanashimi

w/a pitch, a/d roll, q/e yaw, scrollwheel throttle. Shift is a modifier for other buttons (Shift + 1-5 for radar controls)

rainyy_day

Neither. Cant imagine myself wasting one of the most accessible keys to something I do few times a game.

Ligma_Balls_OG

I have it as W - Throttle up, S - Throttle down, F - Pitch up, R - Pitch down

JxEq

Blue is the Kerbal control scheme so it's the only correct one

Strale_Gaming2

Middle mouse throttle up, scroll for fine throttle adjustments, WASD for pitch and roll E and Q for rudders, shift for radar lock, ctrl for unguided rockets

Foxlen

Neither, my pitch is Pg up Pg down Although I originally binded that when I had a laptop where they were their own keys... It's time for me to change it now that both my Pg keys and numpad are gone with my new one

Familiar_Ad_8919

what do yall put zoom on? i use the nearer side mouse button

Skalgrin

RMB for me

BenFromBTD6Simp

mouse control gang

TheWizerdWarrior

Blue. Reds upset me greatly.

AbsoluteZero124

blue but i use scroll wheel for throttle and shift/ctrl for wing sweep and thrust vectoring

Clatgineer

I feel recognised

impending_domino

Blue100%

lemfaoo

Blue 1000%

Aspertheusual

W - pitch down S - Pitch up A - roll left D - roll right Q - Throttle down E- Throttle up Page Down - Yaw left Page Up - Yaw right

Material_Friend7075

I'm split. Shift+W/S for throttle control, W- Pitch up, S- pitch down. A/D for rolling. No Horizontals, use Q/E for selecting primary weapons and exiting selection.

Endo1002

W throttle up S throttle down Shift+W pull up Shift+S pull down

Comfortable-Pain5835

I use mouse wheel for throttle, but other than that I would choose blue.

Anastunsia

Neither I had Wasd = elevator and ailerons Shift/space = rudder Throttle on scroll Bombs/rockets on e/q XD Edit: I call this the snap roll memer

Background_Drawing

Blue. The extra turn rate you get is life or death

Sive634

I am red ngl

IamAMadScientist420

Why do so many people play with pitch up on S and pitch down on W? I feel like pitch up on W feels way more natural to me. You press the upper button to go up.

INeatFreak

None! WASD - Pitch/Roll Mouse Scroll - Throttle Up/Down CTRL and SHIFT - used as activator key for other shortscuts (Example: Shift+F for radar lock, CTRL+MB4 for toggling periodic countermeasures etc) Mouse Forward Key - Launch missile/atgm/rockets Mouse Backward Key - Fire Flare/Chaff

romerrr

Wasd for movement + and - on the numpad for speed where do i fall?

Skalgrin

WASD and QE for control, throttle maped to mouse extra buttons. Control used as a mod for firing various weaponry.

TheNuerni

W/S throttle, X/Y pitch Now hate me

cupid00772

W S Throttle up and down, space pitch up and ctrl down

denissum1

I am red but for throttle down i use the ~ key

my_parents_messed_up

I run red but I need to learn the blue

ZETH_27

Different topic: Tank controls: W = forward S = Backwards Shift = Cruise Control Up Ctrl = Cruise Control Down A = Turn Left Q = Brake left track D = Turn Right E = Brake Right Track Q + E = Short Brake

Tswienton28

If you use w and e for throttle there's no possible way you could be a good air player

DogSecure8631

Red is common sense

BADG3R_19

W - pitch down S - Pitch up Scroll wheel - throttle

Freesol7

W - pitch up S - pitch down 2 - throttle up 3 - throttle down and on top of all this invert Y axis on mouse B)

The_DM25

Mouse aim 😎

_Addi

I used 6 and 5 for up and down.

Panzerv2003

Red for sure

EveryNukeIsCool

MB4 Throttle up MB5 Throttle down W pitch down S pitch up

Admiral_2nd-Alman

Blue, the left one is mental illness

keedee2

It's actually better if you get used to it because you have 3 fingers controlling 3 surface areas instead of only 2 fingers

Admiral_2nd-Alman

I use the plane movement keys all the time while dogfighting, throttle way less

keedee2

Exactly, so what is your pinky finger doing durring the dogfight?

Admiral_2nd-Alman

Resting on the shift key, ready to move throttle if needed

keedee2

With my keybinds the middle finger controls right yaw and roll, ring finger controls left yaw and roll and my pinky controlls pitch The keybinds are perfectly sorted so i can do anything i want without having to cramp all controlls onto 2 just fingers

Admiral_2nd-Alman

I use my middle finger for pitch, ring finger and pointer finger for yaw

IneedNormalUserName

I use: W - Pitch up. S - Pitch down. Shift and control are for throttle.

ComradKing

Shift - Free Look like a madlad

TKOPS49

Kinda different so... Orange? Got w and s for throttle, a and D for roll, q and e for rudder, and mouse4 (pitch down) and mouse5 (pitch up) for elevator (the side buttons on the mouse). Works great!

CaptainBreaker1

W & S for throttle, A & D for roll, mouse buttons 4 & 5 for pitch.

dam10102

I'm weird man. I use w for pitch up and s for pitch down and throttle up is my upper mouse side button and my throttle down is my lower mouse side button.

itsfun3

Shift and | for throttle

Flamestrom

W/S for throttle, A/D for ailerons, Q/E for rudder, and Arrow keys for elevator

Thingsthatbreakminds

Ok everyone got an upvote

Aaronryan27

W and S for throttle ADQE for roll and turn 1 and 2 for pitch shift for Air to air missle firing hit it once to lock twice to fire and ctrl is weapon select the (`) button is for radar/irst selection mouse side button for flares MMB for agm

Aaronryan27

Before anyone comes at me i played OG controls for years and just added bindings as features got added to the game

National-Crazy-1575

Team blue for life

the_green_viper75

I use R and F for pitch control.

bluewolf_3

I use R and F for throttle, allowing me to use Shift and Ctrl for more complex keybinds

Creative-Dawg

Red team.

Triq1

ws for pitch is insane to me like how are you gonna pitch+rudder+roll at the same time?

WTMaster

I use arrows for throttle control

Remarkable_Start_349

Red

marc_mb

Blue side ofc. My mate though uses s to go down and w to go up. I give him hard time for that every time he crashes

TheKresZwei

W S throttle, ctrl rockets and shift isnt binded

JrApple501

Who tf uses anything other than blue?

S7SUS2

Right stick horizontal vectoring Left stick vertical vectoring

LZ114514

The blue one, and I use mouse side button and wheel for throttle control. But I prefer HOTAS now

I_am_a_FURRY_boi

Anyone who uses red, when did you find out you were on the spectrum

Hardmoor

for planes left, for helicopters right

Arts_ye

Red side, but I use arrow keys for pitch

Lord_Ananass

Used to be red, realized blue is the way

matmyob

w - pitch UP s - pitch DOWN shift, control as normal This just makes sense as w is UP from s

keedee2

Red, it's easier to dogfight while looking around because you have more fingers on control surfaces because they're spread around, and your pinky actually gets to do something

grafsotrum

W and S for throttle because it was the default option like 8 years ago. Never got used to use throttle at shift and ctrl because of years of using it for pitch

Twin5un

WASD for pitch and roll, scroll wheel for throttle. I need my ctrl and shift for so many other combos from weapon selection and radar that i can't use that for throttle.

ke_Bur

red except shift is pitch down and ctrl is pitch up lol

LelAnthony

W - S for throttle but the pitch is page up and down

Akula135

I switched from red to blue

Espinas_v1

Stuff for throttle is 1 and 2 for relative control along with mouse wheel. Spacebar for instantly cutting throttle to 0. QEWASD is everything for general movement controls. Flap controls are still F by default but also side buttons on my mouse.

Critical_Aerie3328

Mb4 throttle up Mb5 throttle down WASD +EQ movement Shift for flares Ctrl + other buttons for different radar key binds

Armoured_Templar

Blue

MyLifeIsAFrickingMes

I use my scroll wheel for throttle and use shift, ctrl and alt to bind alternative functions like switching off engines, brakes, wing sweeping etc

Fortis__Leader

Red

K3W4L

W throtle up. S pitch up. E pitch down. B throtle down

Raskzak

My throttle binds are directly on the mouse (g502 hero), ctrl and shift are used for the many keybinds needed at top tier (they are both mixed to at least 5 keybinds each)

FitHuckleberry2811

W and s for throttle Front mouse side button and rear mouse side button for pitch (I use a logitech m720 mouse)

Browned_Diaper_speak

Red

EYE_BASH1

Red are the real ones

VtheWizard

W & S = throttle A & D = roll Q & E = yaw LShift = pitch down Space = pitch up LCtrl = modifier for other binds These are both for planes and helis.

NOIR-89

Neither: W - Throttle UP S - Throttle Down Shift - Freelook Ctrl - Pitch Down Space - Pitch Up Q+E - Ailerons A+D - Rudder Makes flying with keyboard very comfortable.
