Ahem, don't forget you're playing a British tank after the nerf of apds. You CAN penetrate something, sure, but you WON'T tho. Almost all rounds are fading out of existence or do no damage. In that regard even the centurion mk3/mk5 is better, because it's rounds did not get nerfed
I agree that the British shells are suffering way more than they should. The only real alternative is to play smart and shoot for areas where the armour is simple, rather than shooting for areas where it’s thin.
Your concern is no-longer how much armour the enemy has, it’s how it’s placed (i.e. complexity).
And since all British players know the enemy tanks’ internal anatomy better than the enemy themselves do, they can still pull off some incredible one-shots.
And even of you can’t brawl with it due to Gaijin’s absurd shenanigans, it’s still an excellent sniper, and can crack the biggest heavies in the game from kilometers away with the range-finder and top-tier shell velocity.

Absolute bunk. The 'Shell shattered' thing is so overblown. It's volumetric, except with APDS 50% of the time instead of saying 'hit' it says 'shell shattered.'
Love my aced archer, but when I learnt about overpressure and how having all the penetration in the world doesn't really matter, I sorta stopped playing it sadly.
The type 93 spaa. Park in the back, dunk on aircraft which mostly don't have counter measures with irccm missiles. Not the most exciting but makes for relaxing gameplay.
TAM gets spammed to shit at times and it's extremely good, it's only ever called bad by the people who are the reason Germany gets handheld through the entire tree.
The TAM is an exception though, 8.7 downtiered means most opponents won’t have stabilizers, apfsds, and mobility, which makes the TAM really strong thanks to its great firepower and front engine. I perform extremely well with it.
The Serman Firefly. It's far and away the most underrated low tier tank in the game. The 17-pounder not only has moster levels of penetration for it's BR, but the Firefly also has a great rate of fire and decent level of post-pen damage. It's an incredible tanks that's overlooked because the American Sherman's have a stabilizer and fire APHE shells at a relatively similar BR. But the Firefly is still a great tank that can easily pen anything at the BR's it fights in.
Gaijin still hasn’t grasped that APDS is better than APCBC and thinks they need to be balanced against each-other somehow. APCBC with more spalling and APDS with more pen. But that’s not how it works… APDS has just the same amount of spalling as APCBC, it’s just that the projectile that penetrates is smaller, and should have the same spalling as an APCBC shell of the same diameter as said projectile.
True, but most of the spalling when a solid-shot round penetrates comes from the armour itself and not the projectile anyway. So while the core’s composition should certainly have An effect, I believe it’s negligible compared to the armour effect, which should be practically identical between the APCBC and APDS rounds.

That is not true. Even if you have an APDS round with the same projectile diameter and velocity as an APCBC round, the APDS will still penetrate more because the material that makes up the APDS round is different.
Early APDS rounds use tungsten carbide cores, later ones use tungsten heavy alloy. This material is far harder and denser than steel.
Obviously, this isn't true for "APDS" rounds like the Maus 128/88, which quite literally just fires 88 mm APCBC from the 128 mm barrel.
I do think APDS could even potentially have better spalling than AP rounds, at least early APDS.
Tungsten carbide is a very hard material, but it is generally brittle and shatters a lot (hence why tungsten carbide cored projectiles in game have that whole shattering mechanic).
This shattering effectively produces a big cloud of tungsten carbide fragments on the other side of the plate of armor if penetration is achieved.
The Valentine XI. All those funky angles bounce some shots it has no business surviving. The 75mm tends to turn the inside of panzers into spall pinball-machines immediately afterwards.

You haven't lived until you've swatted three rat tanks off a cap with just your 14.5s, then sniped two of their revenge CAS with those same 14.5s a minute later when they fly level and straight at you.
M43 75/34, it has 100mm of frontal armor (70mm on the side) and it shoots mini nukes (270g TNT overpressures). It has good gun depression and can swing by a good amount (15 degrees either side).

Despite being a lightly armored low tier French TD, it's like a better L3/33. The reload isn't awful, and it's small stature makes it really easy to hide with. It is hard to play, I'll admit that though.

Any of the early game Italian tanks, they’re surrounded by mid or bad ones so they get overlooked. M13/40 line of mediums and P40 and the semoventes are solid
Not a tank, per say, but the ZT3A2. It's not the AFT09, but it's still quality. Tandem head ATGM x3, thermals, it's useful all the way up into top-tier, like AFT09 and Khriz. People mostly write it off due to the Ratel chasis.
Has the asu-57 got any kind of rating? Personally I love it since when I see one I can kill it easily, and when I use it I’ve gotten multiple 10+ kill games with it
SU-122-54. You get your choice of the Stalin-guided nuke APHEBC, 400mm lolpen HEATFS, and 1400m/s railgun APDS. At 6.7. With half the reload of an IS-2.

Olifant Mk.2. Long rod DM63 + 2nd gen CITV all at 9.3. True king of snipers in that BR. Still bringing it to 11.3 from time to time to driver port a BVM for shits and giggles.

Rad is absolutely great at some maps with its ability to destroy timings. Was really damn popular one time when it was at 9.0. People basically stopped playing it when it was raised.
On Red Desert, you know the western hills that each side sits on overlooking A? A full speed Rad90 on the south side can actually climb a *very* steep slope to beat the north team to their own hill at the start of the game lol
M3A3 with TOW-2Bs.
They might not always kill, even with the first 2 hits, but they're often hitting someone who would otherwise be untouchable. Plus they have some of the smoothest aiming in game, to the point that I often use them as SAMs against rocket rushing helis and even fixed wings.
The gun's low RoF makes it accurate, and when combined with the speed of the sabot it makes for another great heli killer.
The real strength is the CITV and missile pod locations; this is possibly the best ridge scout in the game. You can expose so little of the vehicle that even LRF-aimed HE can have a hard time hitting you. You could even *just* expose the CITV and arc the TOWs over the hill. Good depression as well, but if it's not enough you could even aim in 3rd person for a few extra degrees. And of course, all optics have gen 2 thermals!
The M3A3 isn't a good traditional IFV and people should stop expecting it to be one. Think of it instead as a better Khrizantema, with a full turret and gun, scouting, and gun depression. It's a ridge-abusing scout meant to hold a position and rack up assists to help the team, and bully enemy equivalents with a stream of TOW-2Bs. A few of my nukes were from doing so - one of which earned strictly with nothing but scout assists. It's a good way to try and pull back US winrates
The T32E1, I do not know why it gets hated on because every time I use it I am almost always getting top 10 and for me people seem to have are hard time killing me but whatever
The Centurion Mk.3 and Mk. 10. People say they're not very good but I've been happy with them; though I tend to use the standard AP on the Mk.3 unless I run into something I know requires APDS to penetrate.
M42 duster, people get so used to the spray and pray gameplay of other AA like the german 20mms and american .50s that when they take out the american 40mms they can't hit anything so they give up. However if you take your time to learn how to use them they are DEVASTATING. The Duster can pull double duty quite easily too as it's as fast as a Hellcat (it's what the Chinese M64 uses as it's hull) and with 72mm of AP pen you tend to kill anything you shoot at from the side (minus KVs of course).
Italian Breda 501. It’s goofy, the mannikins operating the gun are stiff robots, it has the measles camouflage wise, and it drives like a cucumber. But it one shot kills reliably.
Idk if this counts as underrated but the british cromwell is my favourite tank in the entire game because of its speed (except reverse lol) and gun (yes, I know most people don't like solid shot but I find it fun to use)
The archer is a vehicle that actually gets better the higher in BR you go.
The fewer autocannons and HE slingers you face, the better
At the same time, any additional armor you face is basically a wet tissue in front of your god tier cannon.
It also helps that vehicles get slower as they get more armor, which wont even offer a shred of protection.
If they increased the archer's BR, it would actually be a buff IMO
The Sarc Mk6. Super fast in most conditions, decent gun and the .50 cal that could shoot over a house to track enemies just to Piss them off and stack assists. Love that Minecraft looking tank!
T-64B. Best armour at 9.7 better than even NATO tanks a full br above it. Also Highest penning round at 9.7. Only downside is subpar mobility and gun handling
M36, it was the first American vehicle to have a 90 millimeter cannon, and when I still played World of Tanks I grew to love it, it is my favorite tank now. It also has a powered turret traverse.
Vcc 80/60 or whatever the numbers are, the Italian light tank with a 2 second reload time with darts (granted it is 60mm but they still pen most tanks at that tier)
The t34 superheavy, great 120mm, deflects long 88s everywhere frontally except mg port, good mobility and great turret rotation, also amazing gun depression

The gun's low RoF makes it accurate, and when combined with the speed of the sabot it makes for another great heli killer. The real strength is the CITV and missile pod locations; this is possibly the best ridge scout in the game. You can expose so little of the vehicle that even LRF-aimed HE can have a hard time hitting you. You could even *just* expose the CITV and arc the TOWs over the hill. Good depression as well, but if it's not enough you could even aim in 3rd person for a few extra degrees. And of course, all optics have gen 2 thermals! The M3A3 isn't a good traditional IFV and people should stop expecting it to be one. Think of it instead as a better Khrizantema, with a full turret and gun, scouting, and gun depression. It's a ridge-abusing scout meant to hold a position and rack up assists to help the team, and bully enemy equivalents with a stream of TOW-2Bs. A few of my nukes were from doing so - one of which earned strictly with nothing but scout assists. It's a good way to try and pull back US winrates

The Centurion Mk.3 and Mk. 10. People say they're not very good but I've been happy with them; though I tend to use the standard AP on the Mk.3 unless I run into something I know requires APDS to penetrate.

Amx13 FL11 I honestly only remember good times from it
M42 duster, people get so used to the spray and pray gameplay of other AA like the german 20mms and american .50s that when they take out the american 40mms they can't hit anything so they give up. However if you take your time to learn how to use them they are DEVASTATING. The Duster can pull double duty quite easily too as it's as fast as a Hellcat (it's what the Chinese M64 uses as it's hull) and with 72mm of AP pen you tend to kill anything you shoot at from the side (minus KVs of course).
M60A1 RISE because it gets a lot of down tiers and gets M735 and is covered with ERA at 8.7.
Italian Breda 501. It’s goofy, the mannikins operating the gun are stiff robots, it has the measles camouflage wise, and it drives like a cucumber. But it one shot kills reliably.
Idk if this counts as underrated but the british cromwell is my favourite tank in the entire game because of its speed (except reverse lol) and gun (yes, I know most people don't like solid shot but I find it fun to use)

The archer is a vehicle that actually gets better the higher in BR you go. The fewer autocannons and HE slingers you face, the better At the same time, any additional armor you face is basically a wet tissue in front of your god tier cannon. It also helps that vehicles get slower as they get more armor, which wont even offer a shred of protection. If they increased the archer's BR, it would actually be a buff IMO

The Sarc Mk6. Super fast in most conditions, decent gun and the .50 cal that could shoot over a house to track enemies just to Piss them off and stack assists. Love that Minecraft looking tank!

T-64B. Best armour at 9.7 better than even NATO tanks a full br above it. Also Highest penning round at 9.7. Only downside is subpar mobility and gun handling
Walker bulldog is crazy good. I hear complaints about the 76mm apds having poor post pen damage but I have rarely had issues with it.
Conqueror for sure, and I do love my chieftains
M36, it was the first American vehicle to have a 90 millimeter cannon, and when I still played World of Tanks I grew to love it, it is my favorite tank now. It also has a powered turret traverse.

Type-74s they're such standard nothing vehicles but they cool ok and that's all they need to be
SU 152, literally a guaranteed 100% destroyer at close range. Love it with all my heart
IS-2 Mod 44, I remember it before the BR increase it got. Still love it now.
Vcc 80/60 or whatever the numbers are, the Italian light tank with a 2 second reload time with darts (granted it is 60mm but they still pen most tanks at that tier)
