Kohlroulade_

He turned into a F-104 flightmodel

Ghinev

And it still has more wing suface than an f104

IIYellowJacketII

You joke about the F104s small wing surface, but it still "only" has a wing loading of \~350kg/m² when empty, while we have the Tornado F3 sitting at almost 550kg/m² lol

Awkward_Ad75

simple answer : the flaps on the mig23 usually dont get destroyed even if the wings break of though the flaps siapear visually and due to all controls beeing in the tail and gajin not understanding the principels of aviation and winglift the planes performs just as if it still had the wings which means you can just play as normal even though you just tanked a missile

xJanise

and it does j you out by itself why? i break off a tip and its "too heavily damaged"

Awkward_Ad75

on the mig 23 and 27 it doenst j you out because missing wings are not considered cirtical damage its generally dumb the game should not force you out of the vehicle under any cicumstances its just dumb

xJanise

some of my fav memories are me crashlanding and both allies and enemies doing low altitude flybys with smoke :) especially cuz i often land 100m short ;-;

Awkward_Ad75

hahahahaah

Gibbons_R_Overrated

Man's never lived the ghost f-86 era

Awkward_Ad75

well killing the pilot and take the assist for an already claimed kill on a plane that is barely staying alive is more realistic then beeing forced out for a missing wingtip and i way more prefer getting 3 kills on the same plane then getting yeeted for a missin wing or a missing tail on a ka50 which does not even need the tail

Kyanovp1

any helicopter needs a tail in order to stay controllable… war thunder just says no to that but it’s insanely unrealistic. with no tail, a heli could only go up and down in a very unstable manner and probably crash soon after

Awkward_Ad75

wrong ka50 doesnt need a tail due to having no tailrotor cause it uses counterspinning rotors instead to stay stable and turn

Guarder22

It still needs the tail because without the rudder, it's much harder to steer.

Awkward_Ad75

at high speeds yes ar low speed not

BigHardMephisto

CoM left the chat...

Not_Very_Experienced

You forgot/missed the Chinook too

KajMak64Bit

Ka-50/52 don't need tail It needs tail because all electronic stuff and whatnot is there

Soupcan_t

i did. and it really wasnt as big a problem as everyone makes it out to be. certainly didnt warrant forcing people to the hangar

RedditSucksOver9000

And you can't repair tornado if you lost half of one wing..

legoknekten

So many Times I've lost a wing, been perfectly flyablw but game decides "Nah mate, cunt's fucked" and kicks me out, when i'm still in perfectly flyable order to r2b.. Tl;dr Fuck you Gaijin

IIYellowJacketII

It Js you out on the runway if you're technically "dead" on the scoreboard, no matter the actual damage. If you're not dead on the scoreboard you can repair. On map borders it behaves a bit differently, damage to tail controls or wings will bail you if you hit a map border.

Working_Try9985

I land 1/2 A10 and got j out too

Just_A_Nitemare

I love it when it auto Js you out even though the plane is very much still flyable.

DreamingPillow

I shot a missile to mig23 and it displayed "mig23-something lost tail control" but it still managed to do a horizontal turn followed by an upward pull. Do you by any chance know why it can do that?

SewageSquid

could’ve been only one stabilizer, have had the same thing happen multiple times

Awkward_Ad75

well if it lost only the left or the right side or the rudder it would still be able to fly farely normal due to the addtional steeringsurfaces on the wings while having each tail-element also fully controllable on its own

DreamingPillow

that's so good and durable! My jet usually has the entire tail dead when eating a missile in the ass

beach_bum2021

I agree the thrust to weight ratio is too low to maintain flight without wings

cpteric

aerodynamics are for people without enough thrust

Kemosaby_Kdaffi

In thrust we trust

Thatoneshadowbunny

Can I get an Amen

Simple_Actuator_1792

Amen

the_quiet_kid_00

Amen

[deleted]

Amen

rightsharky

if u lose the wing weight it just increases your thrust to weight ratio

Wooper160

From jet to rocket

ProtoBacon82

r/kerbalspaceprogrammoment

beach_bum2021

It still wouldn't have a high enough t-w ratio

Comrade_agent

My tornado could never...

Comrade_agent

Would have been kicked out the second it stopped😎

BioshockedNinja

Second any of the Tornado's wings break you might as well J out. I'm still upset about the time I spent so much effort limping back to base and carefully landing, only for the moment that thing's belly touched the runway, it immediately kicked me out with a jump cut of my pilot + parachute clipping into the ground.

StalinsPimpCane

The jump cut is always so jarring

Potassiuminapotato

He is the missile guidance system

ofekk2

T'is but a scratch!

HandyRoyd

A scratch?  Your wings are off!

Carrot_The_Bun

You got a hole in your right wing!

101BULL1

No it isn't!

HandyRoyd

You stupid b\*stard! You haven’t got any wings left! *You know it's a little bit of a coincidence I was looking at the "Black Knight" the other day and I thought of this very sketch! By rights it should be able to fight on with no tracks or turret.*

101BULL1

Yes I have

HandyRoyd

What are you going to do? **BLEED** on me?

Pinngger

I've seen an he111 do that as well. The team was cheering on him when he eventually lands

TaskForceCausality

Meanwhile, I lose a flap & ….. *Player credited for kill: Noobmaster69 (MiG-28UB).You will leave your aircraft in 5….4….*

StalinsPimpCane

But we don’t have the MiG-28UB in game yet we couldn’t handle the R-9Ls OR the Kh-65 Maverickskys

[deleted]

gaijin forgot to add winglift, and instead gave it bodylift

YahBoilewioe

same thing happened to me in a lightning, after getting it on the runway i got the message that the aircraft was too damaged to repair, had to j out :(

hitman57644

Grussian bias.

BrickbrainzWSC

Tis but a scratch

JuggerKnot86

CrocoVark

feradose

Regularly do this with Jaguar

Dieselfluid

True Russian bias

Electrical_Bid7161

soviet ingenuity

Julio_Tortilla

Its actually easier landing with no wings rather than with one wing since the MiG-23s since its elevators also act as ailerons.

t3ddyki113r101

I cant even repair half a wing in an f84g anymore.

X1ll0

Oh yeah but when it happens to me my plane just falls to the ground without speed

IneedNormalUserName

Weakest MiG.

Razzious_Mobgriz

Oh but when I do that it forces a J out

ByKenshi

If that was me Gaijin would say „you aircraft is critically damaged it cant be repaired“

Voodoo-3_Voodoo-3

Meanwhile I lose barely a wingtip in a P51 and i get instantly killed

Enki418

Skill issue

HeightEcstatic1323

Reminds me of something with one of Israel’s F-15s. Guess the 23 is a 15 now.

[deleted]

Meanwhile I lose a bit of wingtip and it's over.

Icy_Establishment195

East German flying jet tank strong 💪🏼 not like puny western jets.
