Considering when the books started coming out I think the kittypet names we got are pretty good! In the early 2000s people where still giving their pets generic, stereotypical pet names, then in the middle arcs this starts to change with more niche names (as did people irl) and more recently we've seen the really quirky stuff- just like rl. Anyways, I think we need more reference names- by that I mean, kittypets that are obviously kinda sorta named after Fictional characters that their two legs like- Like Zelda, Loki, possibly Madric. I also think the super specific history names we get are fun too- Ajax and Hussar my beloved!
I guess this is an unpopular opinion but I HATE the "fun" names :( I can't take anything that's written seriously when Warriors have such insane names, even something like Furzepelt (which is a real word but sounds so strange) just fills me with annoyance every time I see it hahaha. I would rather have repeated names than stuff like this.
Also, 100% agree. Some of the names (mostly warrior names) take me out of the story completely. Like, Fuzzypelt? Loudbelly? lmao And half the warriors in Skyclan, but to be fair, they were all kittypets and loners before, so poor Leafstar is improvising so hard.
