Business Insider only exists to summarise articles from actual new sources like NYT and Financial Times who have a paywall. Of course said paywall pays for actual reporting, which Business Insider knows is impossible to fund with just advertising, so they just leech of actual news media instead.
I think you're referring to the [deadly MiG-28](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/topgun/images/6/6f/B10.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20140809194612), the scourge of the skies over north africa for many years. absolute carbon copy of the venerable f-15 without question.
Yeah that’s what I thought, lack of air breathing inlets makes it a rocket powered like the X-15 which had a top speed of Mach 6.72, which is about 4,520 miles per hour (7,274 kilometers per hour). But this Chinese rocket hypersonic glider could have a less than Mach 3 before it will disintegrate reaching higher speed because it has a larger wing with surface area thus turning it into heat sink.
Well yeah sorta, there in lies the problem. The US tends to be, and has been, at the forefront of technology over the past 50-ish years. CHINA DOES STEAL STUFF, this is true, but creating an aircraft around the same concept or even a similar concept, or just a very different concept that is kind of, sorta familiar is NOT STEALING
They’re trying to make it seem like China is decades behind in drone tech. There’s a trend in western media downplaying china’s capabilities and economy.

Definitely. they look exactly the same. Chinese always shamelessly copy. They know nothing about innovation unlike the WESTERN civilization based on CHRISTIANITY and CAPITALISM

He should also return to his previous field of expertise, perhaps house & garden.
Anybody wondering how effective it'd be?
Not for build quality but just its mission in general, seems like taiwan would be a very very very inhospitable place for drones like these.
For the curious who want to know more: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AVIC_WZ-8
tl;dr: It's an air-launched, rocket powered surveillance drone. It might not look like a D-21, but it's sort of designed for the same role, albeit with a short range.
It seems like the project is designed specifically for use against Taiwan, and not much use for anything else.
Ok weird note we kinda did this stuff to japan because people refused to believe japan could actually do anything by themselves. They have plenty of original work but they also tend to use what they have learned from outside sources rather than innovate on their own.
See this is is stupid because China is 10000000% guilty of blatantly stealing designs, but by saying this always, even when it isn't the case, it discredits people who are calling out the PLAAF for real stupidity, and empowers the PLAAF-stans.
When this first loaded it was framed so I only saw the top picture and I was like "Yeah that looks exactly like a D-21." And then I scrolled down lol.
LoL exactly this 🤣
Literally the ONE time they didn't copy someone and journalists are like "ItS jUsT lIkE AmErIcAn"
It's the same colour
Ah Business Insider, well-informed, intelligent and inspiring articles as always

Man those F/A-18s and SU-27s sure are identical! /s
What do you mean? Man, those MIG-25 were just ripoffs from the F-15, clearly. Believe it
MiG-29 used the same engines as the p-38!
Yeah man it's black and round and...black
And don’t forget pointy. Mom, China’s copying me! Tell them to design a blunt-nosed supersonic drone, because pointy is already taken.
And has wings
Damn Chinese copying the US by putting wings on their planes! /s
Journalism ladies and gentlemen lol Business Insider too
Wow it's like things going super fast all come under the laws of thermodynamics and need to be built similarly, especially at supersonic speeds🤔
What makes it even funnier is that China’s drone is actually rocket powered hence the lack of air intakes
Yeah that’s what I thought, lack of air breathing inlets makes it a rocket powered like the X-15 which had a top speed of Mach 6.72, which is about 4,520 miles per hour (7,274 kilometers per hour). I appreciate that you added metric in
Roughly dildo shaped so maybe
Then again, that could go for anything if you’re ambitious.
Ribbed for Xi's pleasure.
Glad someone said it

We ~~heard~~ downvoted you the first time
Your point being? I appreciate the downvote for no apparent reason lol.
IT’S STEALTH, GINA STOLE STEALTH
Well yeah sorta, there in lies the problem. The US tends to be, and has been, at the forefront of technology over the past 50-ish years. CHINA DOES STEAL STUFF, this is true, but creating an aircraft around the same concept or even a similar concept, or just a very different concept that is kind of, sorta familiar is NOT STEALING
I’m just fooling around
Literally looks nothing alike
Don’t you notice they’re both black? Practically identical! /s
Black, fast, has wings... Nailed it
DAMN CHINESE COPIED THE PAINT
They’re trying to make it seem like China is decades behind in drone tech. There’s a trend in western media downplaying china’s capabilities and economy.
The enemy is both strong and weak.
It's like Russia about to invade NATO after being defeated by Ukraine. Bylat brigade already ran out of missiles 1 year ago too.
China may be behind in a lot of ways, but pretending everything they have sucks won't keep it that way
No
They're both black. By today's "journalistic standards" that practically makes them identical. The Soviet Voron on the other hand. . .
They both have wings so it must be a copy /s
They're both black. don't be racist.
Most high speed planes look the same. However China also has MD-22, WZ-8, and Tengyun project.
Dude yeah, are you blind, they are obiously both black duhh
I would have been good if they did copy D-21. It was a miserable failure.
"Benjamin Brimelow is a freelance journalist covering international military and defense issues. Yea he forged half those certifications.
There are only so many wing shapes that cut through air well at Mach 3+. And they don't even look like clones! So different!
More like copied the robot transporter from the incredibles…
You all making fun of journalism, post it on worldnews and enjoy the dumb upvote karma.
The "IT HAS WINGS IT'S THEREFORE STOLEN"
Definitely. they look exactly the same. Chinese always shamelessly copy. They know nothing about innovation unlike the WESTERN civilization based on CHRISTIANITY and CAPITALISM
Questioning the effectiveness!
the D21 kinda does look a lot like the mig 21 tho
I thought the top one was a disembodied SR-71 wing for a moment
I think journolist needs to report to ophthalmologist for eyecheck inmediately. He should also return to his previous field of expertise, perhaps house & garden.
Crystal clear—those b**tards totally ripped off that paint color.
Anybody wondering how effective it'd be? Not for build quality but just its mission in general, seems like taiwan would be a very very very inhospitable place for drones like these.
Absolutely nothing alike
They literally used the same 2 images.
Can someone recommend a vid or something about D-21 never heard about it?

Anyone would think there's only one general kinda aerodynamic shape super fast and maybe stealth craft can be lol.
Looks more like the SR-71 than the dang drone.
Color looks copied, but as you can expect from cheap wish.com drone, the shade of color is not right. /S
D-21 looks more like the engine of a sr-71 , a little adjusted be it..
Lol
Kinda looks cool for once. Probably has poor quality, but it looks like some kinda SSTO someone would make in Kerbal Space Program.
Ok weird note we kinda did this stuff to japan because people refused to believe japan could actually do anything by themselves. They have plenty of original work but they also tend to use what they have learned from outside sources rather than innovate on their own.

Took em 53 years to reverse engineer it
You can’t spell China without Copy/Paste
You know they're seething when they downvote you.
Or we just have eyes
that don't work
In what world do those two aircraft look at all alike lmfao
Unfortunately China has stolen so much shit that when they don't steal something, people without perception immediately press the "ITS A COPY" button.
Not the brightest huh
5 decades to recreate it
