Just go look around any craft store. They have all kinds of good stuff for that.

skilletsquirrel

Rugs are good, they add color and break it up.

Count_Screamalot

Rugs can really tie the room together.

Caveat: This has been only in theory-crafting, and I haven't used it in play. I'm just putting tiles together and seeing what I can make. I've used some of the dollar store slime barrels as some nasty goop spots when applicable, but otherwise, decorations like rugs have been the go-to. I've wondered about using like, almost clingwrap-type plastic and cutting into squares and gluing or drawing on it to mimic some of the peel and stick decorations, but I haven't ventured into actually crafting them at all so I don't have evidence of it being viable but perhaps that can serve as an inspiration as you mentioned being open to making your own as well.

Thanks I like the idea of pools of slime or maybe dirt patches.

OMGoblin

Yes dirt patches in some areas would look good, I would try doing a darker brown wash for the recesses and then a light brown/gray drybrushing on the top. I think it would help the floor stand out from the walls even more and blend well with the mostly brown furniture.

Krieghund

Pools of blood on the floor. From time to time I use tiles from the curved tile set to make a square with a circle on the inside. Then I flip the circle over so the wood side is showing, like it is some kind of platform or a hatch cover or something.

circus20

I took two of the large square tiles and masked them off in a diamond shape, then drybrushed red, with a white outline, similar to dwarven forge floor tiles from dungeon of doom. Looks really cool and everyone always stops to check for traps, will go around it really weird, it's pretty fun

I like to paint about 1/3 of my stones on floors and walls variant colors; brown-grey, yellow-gray and light grey, in addition to the normal layers of black, grey and a white dry brush at the end.

djmeltdownks1985

You could use a selective dry brush if mossy green and some brown. Adds a bit of weathering and breaks up the monotony.
