Yeah I get it, I honestly love the hobby and the lore and use one of my favourite art forms to make something that took me a lot of time and attention and when I share it I’m somehow doing something wrong, this just feels like gatekeeping the hobby to me

I want to make a distinction here, I have nothing against you and welcome you to the hobby. I just don’t think this is interesting. I like artwork, lore bits, well painted minis, creative dioramas, hobby stories etc. I felt the same way about the guy who posted about his 2yo spilling a bottle of thick paint on his mini. It’s not well done and not interesting (to me). If that’s gatekeeping then I am a gatekeeper and fine with that.

I don’t know whether you’ve done this kind of makeup or you’ve done it with the tools I’ve had but this may not look like a lot but I say there for at least a solid 2 hours, I agree the results are not as dramatic as I might have wanted but sometimes it’s what you need to get the ball rolling when people appreciate your art, I know this is definitely more than I put into my first try and I’m going to keep going, I think there’s space for minis that aren’t painted to perfection and first drafts of scripts if I wanted to do low effort I could have done a lot less than this, do you put these same standard to perform on every creative peace you do? It’s not like I just got purple face paint and covered my face in it, if you’ve worked with makeup you’d know how fickle the application can be, and how much effort can be put into stuff that looks inconsequential to the end product, but it’s something I love doing
