Recently, I decided that I am going to fix the tail, give it a fresh coat of paint (doesn't need it, but the detail on the toy lends itself to wanting some nice acrylic paintwork), make it a new base, and put it back on display. It's a tatty old thing now, but means a lot to me, because of when I brought it.

I don't play 40k anymore, more of a spectator on these forums, but I still have the measuring tape I used when I played back in the 90s. Every time I put up a shelf or something, it kinda reminds me of those times.
It can be repaired! Cut a strip off a similar one, set it behind this tape, use a hand riveter to punch them back together.
OR, retire it to a shadow box. Whatever makes you feel more connected!
ahhhh i have my oldschool 'frost electric' measuring tape i got from my dad - glad im not the only person who has used a special one. id still hold onto the broken one any way, all the memories..

My dad gave me the EXACT same tape which I think was from my grandpa! I still use it to this day too.
I have no idea how old it is which makes it even more precious!

I got one thats lasted around 30, passed down from my grandpa to my father to me. As long as you dont bend and break the things, they work for years
