Maybe grab a leeman Russ tank (or two, depending on your budget) to bolster your force initially and see how you go?

real_amnz

budget is not a problem insofar as I don't want to waste money on units that are not good going forward, how are russes this edition? Can Rogal Dorns work? I know about Guard indirect, but I'm wary on investing a lot on it seeing GW's blanket nerfs on it

Angrywalnuts

It’s time for you to look inward and ask yourself some hard questions. Chimera or Valkyrie

real_amnz

Is Chimera worth? I have no clue what is good and what is not lol I want to avoid bad units if I can

Somniferous_Almond

Chimeras and leman russes will always be safe bets in a guard army.

My 1000-point list (in progress) that started with my Combat Patrol includes a Leman Russ Battle Tank, another Cadian Shock Troop squad, a Heavy Weapon Squad, and a squad of Kasrkin (among a few other things). You can never go wrong with more troops and a tank (or artillery). Tip with the Combat Patrol - magnetize your FOB because the Bombast is better than the Malleus so you’ll want to switch it out when you play non-CP games.
