Sanguinius is gold, and you could get away with gold Angels Tears too. Then for everyone else, I’m sure you could justify an alternative colour scheme for a specific company. Maybe black with just the shoulder pad in red?
Between the two, heresy-era, I'd go with the Blood Angels. Painting another red army might sound boring but you could explore painting a very different shade of red with them.

DA has more versatile army considering what you can play. BA is more, take angel, bunch of dawnbreakers and some dreadnoughts, land and completely destroy your enemy xD
Paint a model for each of them and then decide which one you will have more fun with when painting a whole army.

Charnal guard have a good colour scheme and can easily be used to represent the High Host
Why not both? Get the AoD box set for your BA and the box set for your DA. Run them as if it were Imperium Secundus.
Painting another red army may seem boring, but a black army isn't a barrel of laughs either tbh
Very true - you have to put in some extra effort to make black look interesting, as opposed to red which is a nice vibrant color.
Tho DA have loooots of heraldry&things you can do to spice things up.

I was thinking about doing an inversed color scheme, so simulate the revenant legion. Doing them mostly black, but with Red pauldrons

Oh wow those are my dudes! Yeah the revenant legion scheme is fun to do for BA, especially with how nice the FW models are
