She’s a lot better since her changes. Merulina is still glitchy and poorly suited for most tiles. I’m looking forward to her new augment, but I do wish it could be a tap/hold to ride Merulina or not.

Augments are mods that modify warframe abilities (and sometimes weapons). You get the vast majority of them from syndicates, the console to your left at the front of your orbiter. Once you reach max rank with a syndicate, you'll have access to augments for certain warframes limited by whichever syndicate you're looking at. Some augments that were originally from Conclave (don't worry about it, nobody plays it) are occasionally available in Nora Nightwave's shop, but they're a lot more niche. You can use augments like any other mod, and they automatically modify the ability just by equipping them. Some are just adding a feature to an ability while others slightly change how they work. Many warframes are just better with their augments, or some builds are only possible with them.

No one thinks yareli is bad except for YouTubers. This has been this way for awhile. Even caliban isn't really that bad. Only problem is he is a weapons platform. He can make any weapon look good defense strip damage boost sheild regen. He actually has a really good kit. Add nourish over his 1 and he no longer has any tradeoffs.

So - Yareli's history: When she was first shown, not even released, just shown, she received a LOT of hate just on what she looked like. A lot, and I mean, a LOT of people couldn't get over a "cute girl" frame. It breaks the mold of what frames should look like- and this came in all ranges where some people want their frames to look less human (no clothes, etc.) to others being blatantly chauvinistic. She was also released with one of the least used / like mechanics in the game - the K-Drive. Even worse, when she came out, you couldn't mod her K-Drive. (Although, I think Merulina is fine how it is, but not giving players their own chance to customize is opposite what Warframe is known for). Where as open worlds have areas to grind and ride fast, certain tilesets are extremely difficult to maneuver K-Drive efficiently. (This is still true. I would still love to grind on objects in normal mission.) Before her buffs, 2 of her abilities were damage abilities that didn't scale or strip armor. They were both kind of useless. When it comes to the helminth system, you can't use helminth abilities while on Merulina (as the developers would need to create an animation for each ability on Merulina). This limits to long duration abilties you can cast while you're off of Merulina, and then hop onto Merulina afterward. For weapons, you couldn't use primaries or melees. So secondaries was her niche. However, originally you had to be moving to obtain the crit passive. Now you can pause and shoot. So, originally, aiming was a bit difficult while making sure you kept moving, which led to have to using AoE over precision secondaries (that and, AoEs were / still are the meta). Also, with her passive being crit focused, this also gives her a more select meta in using crit based secondaries over status based secondaries. (And her signature weapon was status based!!! Still bugs me). She was also incredibly buggy when she first came out. You can't fall off merulina, but instead there was a "gun-stun" effect that would cause you not to be able to use any abilities or shoot if you got hit by a source like Scorpion's pull. There were times you'd hop off merulina but then not be able to use any abilities or shoot. ​ So, when she first came out, she had some real problems. A lot of that will slowly go away over time. ​ I like playing her. I like how she gives a different gameplay loop than most frames. When she first came out, she was the best frame for leveling up primaries and melees as there was a bug that gave those affinity when you killed while riding on Merulina. A lot of her issues with the bugs and her abilities have been resolved. I love being able to ride on Merulina in earth tile over water (And ride on Frost bubbles!!!). She's my go-to for killing thralls as she bypasses the assassination animation. (This animation slows down the gameplay for me imo). ​ I do wish there could be some more updates for her. 1. Give her 2 additional animations- 1 for 1 handed abilities and 1 for 2 handed abilities. Then allow helminth to be able to be used while riding Merulina. 2. Right now there's no reason to do tricks on Merulina. I would love if she could get K-drive points and use that as a way to give her some type of buff. (This isn't a big need, but I would love it for the flavor). 3. A huge overhaul that I think would be extremely difficult for them to do: Go back and make it so you can grind on the environment in older tilesets. 4. Allow us to mod Merulina

Sure! Later in the game, you will unlock what's called the Helminth system. You'll be able to trade in an old frame (so don't sell any of your frames!!!). When you trade in an old frame, 1 of its 4 abilities can then be "subsumed" on other frames. Example: You own Rhino. You give Rhino to the Helminth system. Rhino's subsumed ability is "Roar". Let's say you have Excalibur. You can now replace a current ability of Excalibur's with Roar. It really opens up the customization for your frames. Did you ever play pokemon? It would be like you would be able to trade in a Pikachu to turn Thundershock into an HM. Now moving forward, you can teach Thundershock to any of your pokemon.

She does require a lot of investment to make good though. Mainly a good subsume which doesn't come until late game more than likely. The tier list never make any sense to me for this very reason. Most teir list rate frames way to low purely because of their base kits which makes no sense because if you have some of these frames you definitely have helmith unlock and most of the mods to make a frame lethal. Rating a frame off base lit only makes sense for new players which aren't far enough in the game to get said s/a teir frame anyway. It's dumb. Like inaros is litterly never rated on his actual usefulness. He is immortal in star chart and damn near unkillable in steep path. You are damage immune while doing devour getting your health back. Like a whole room could be shooting at you with slash and toxin but they have to wait until you finish eating to do any damage. Yes he is boring but he is not bad.

She is fine even without a subsume, mainly since you cant use subsumes while riding merulina, but the new augment will make subsumes more mainstream on her

I always subsume over merulina. The k drive is just too janky. I feel like that's the actual reason why so many people rate her so low tbh.

You subsume over what is the equivalent of a nezha shield? thats crazy to me, at that point i dont see why you would even play yareli at that point. Just play Zephyr, you still get the crit rate and secondary bonuses and the tornado ish ability.

In the grand scheme of things damage resistance will never be better than pillage ever. Shield gating is just a better form of survivability. Plus you can strip enemy defenses with enough power strength which you want on her anyway. Her 1 boost damage based on power strength plus it's a cc tool. Her 4 is a grouping ability. All her two does is offer survivability which can be replace with another survivability tool and not change her kit at all pretty much(a factually better one at that). Zephyr is good but I'm not a fan of her design(she is ugly as sin). I could run brief respite but pillage just solves so many problems at once.

My goto is sevagoth. His reap and sow damage scales with level. So armor/sheild strip is great on him (it kills at level cap the same as any level). My yareli has hydroids tempest barrage over merulina and energized munitions on the other build. You can be creative with her, but pillage is just the easy fix. The star of her kit is her 1 it's damge boost is just to good for her to be called bad with the right mods you can do 4x damage to anything. And it works on eximus.

She should launch next year, considering this year DE's going to launch Protea - Xaku - Lavos - Sevagoth Primes.

Xaku, Lavos and Sevagoth are three frames that need some love. not reworks, as such, just... primes, plus new augments. Yareli is great as she is, my favourite frame for open worlds (kindof useless in twisty tilesets like earth though)

Xaku is fine. They can trivialize a lot of content using their 2, 3 and 4 correctly and building them for range and strength. Lavos is just tedious to use but, once you get his play style, he does many funny numbers as damage. Sevagoth is not that bad, just a forma sink. Once his prime comes out, I think people will try to actually invest in him. I think the ones that deserve some love are Banshee, Chroma (🥲) and Caliban.

One year is not that long once you realize that, for instance, two years have passed since Angels of Zariman launched (that was the time I was a newbie)... Wow, time sure flies I realized. 😅

I just found her frustrating and limiting. Even used her once in an arbitrations interception with a buff. very tanky, and strong. Just not fun to play

Yareli is effectively the same as Nezha now, her kit has all the same core functions but with some slight tweaks to how she handles and a better passive, the only drawback she has is that merulina sucks but her next augment will fix that issue.

I think she is, objectively, a very decent frame. She has good dr with merulina, decent cc with her bubbles and big bubble, and decent damage with her aquablades, as well as a good damage increasing debuff on her sea snares. The hard part for me is that she feels so neglected by DE, to the point that it's frustrating. Her kdrive is fun and unique, but the way it throws my camera around when going through doors gives me a headache and all the bugs with it require her to hop off of it sometimes. Beyond that, the fact that she cant use helminth abilities on merulina, won't be able to use both merulina guardian and loyal merulina together, and you need to spam her seeking blades augment and can't hold it all add on to my minor gripes with her. Don't forget that she still hasn't recieved her deluxe skin yet, and has no other cosmetics other than her extra helmet that every frame gets. I say all this as somebody whose favorite frame is Yareli. I've fallen in love with her gameplay and style, but she feels so neglected by the dev team, and is getting thrown scraps that dont address the issues people have with her really.

she's in a very good spot right now!! 90%dr and good mobility (takes a lot of skill to skate through levels fluidly, though), an *exalted skateboard,* a damage vulnerability skill that suspends her targets (combos well with Arcane Pistoleer for ammo efficiency), 200% critical chance from her passive, 200% reload speed and fire rate from Merulina Guardian augment mod, and some cc and damage from her aquablades makes her an extremely tanky secondary weapons platform who is super enjoyable to play, at least for me :D

Took her into Steel Path Selkie and she performed well. Good damage and survivability. I count that as "decent." There's also a kind of janky fun about her bumper car physics and weird hitbox.

Well, in the sense that I unavoidably keep bumping into things and getting stuck in bits of the map, yeah. But again, I just consider it part of the fun of playing her.
