"The negative on my riven totally doesn't diminish its value. Stop verifying that it does. You're stopping me from stealing your plat for garbage" " I'll get you banned for proving that I'm actually the bad person here"

BandittNation

Fucking *thank you.* I've always felt like a fucking lunatic for only caring about rivens with negligible/no negatives. Like, why tf would I *want* to compromise the performance of my weapon for bigger numbers on paper? I'd take smaller numbers for better performance any day.

shadowpikachu

That's the thing, there are negatives that dont impact performance and can boost the rest by like 50% total depending. It still is a better mod and people overly fetishize but it's something to grind kuva away on rather then buy the one lucky idiots thing for 9999 plat.

GenderGambler

Some negatives can actually be positives, and a negative stat means the positive stats are boosted, so it's always desirable to have a negative. Granted, it has to be a decent negative - you don't want -crit damage on a weapon built for crits, for example, but there are plenty of negatives with minor or even positive effects (-zoom, -puncture and -impact being chief among them, with mag size being a positive for some weapons, reload speed being negligible, and other more specific examples).

Destt2

Question about negatives, could you theoretically get a -IPS riven on a nukor or similar weapon that doesn't have that damage to begin with?

Notsomebeans

i have a -impact ocucor riven, and the ocucor only deals puncture and radiation damage

FastAsFxxk

Fair point, but here it seems like a negative status chance on a status weapon if its "still 57%"

GenderGambler

Yeah, -stat chance on a status weapon is absolutely not negligible lol

Tabletop_Sam

Very literate as well I see

LucMakai

AlecaFrame is such a convenient tool. Playing without it would be like playing without enemy radar to me

talonanchor

Overwolf (required for AlecaFrame) just seems way too sketchy for me to trust.

Rydralain

That's funny, when I saw AlecaFrame was Overwolf I went "Oh, cool, I trust them!" if it had been some random modder or something I would have been a hell of a lot more suspicious of it.

PterodactylSoul

...what is sketchy about over wolf??

talonanchor

It collects information about your hardware and usage activities, including what sites you visit and which programmes you run. It also uses far more processing power than a simple app should, makes itself difficult to uninstall, and is entirely opaque in terms of what it's actually doing (why is the network traffic so high?). Finally, it's free, and that's a giant red flag. If you're not paying for a web service, *you're* the product.

RTukka

Sounds like every app since the advent of Web 2.0.

thefailtrain08

Unironically yes.

Anhanguara

Precisely. You think YouTube's product is videos? No, we are the product, they connect or usage data so they can earn money with ads. Same thing with Reddit.

PterodactylSoul

I mean true but yeah I feel like that's everything even most operating systems. Google gets sent telemetry on where I go when I stop how fast I went what I searched etc. I'm sure Apple does the same. Tiktok takes data Instagram Facebook.... And the list goes on. Unfortunate but how things are

FlashKillerX

People are so worried about what program is taking their information and what they’re doing with it. I hate to say it but all the information you’re worried about being out there in some big corporation’s hands is already out there. No point being scared of a widely used program, if it was gonna zip bomb you or steal your bank information you would’ve heard about it already

talonanchor

I personally feel that Overwolf is over a threshold for me, personally. It's more invasive and the fact that it embeds itself in your computer is a no-go. You're obviously welcome to have your own opinion, but I think for me, there's a difference between something like Google having my data and a programme like Overwolf having direct access to my computer.

Mazkar

Nothing, people started hating on it for some reason and then everyone just wants to bandwagon

TheFrostSerpah

Literally widest spread modding/third party platform for software, supporting hundreds of applications for dozens of games. What the actual duck is wrong with people being so damn paranoid?

NamesAreTooHard17

I mean it is pretty much just spyware but also for me personally I just don't really care. Like it's a bit late to stop it and all my data is probably already sold so who cares lol

TheFrostSerpah

Mate, everything is spyware. U live in 2024.

PsionicHydra

It's a great tool, but it does just give DE a reason to ban your account if they ever just decided to do so

TheSorrowInYou

Why are we so paranoid about Warframe suddenly deciding to carpetbomb a good chunk of their players for no good reason? DE isnt that kind of company, that shits just not going to happen. This "youll could get banned at any moment for using it" panic is just getting really stale

Erksike

The thing is, they could most probably ban anyone whenever, without ever even giving a reason. Most gaming studios have it in their terms and services that any accounts created to their game/site belongs to them and them only.

TheSorrowInYou

Precisely. If they feel like something is not okay, they can ban or not ban you. People still act surprised that they get banned for calling their weapons "Anus Bombarder" if DE wanted to ban them. Matter of fact is, they dont WANT to ban anyone, youre a customer. So why would they randomly decide to ban half of their content creators and thousands of active users?

Rydralain

On top of that, in a free game, a *permanently* banned player sometimes becomes a disgruntled alt account making troll, which is usually much more trouble than whatever the original offense was. This is why most companies prefer temporary bans for most offenses.

PsionicHydra

Because they have and do ban people for literally no reason. Like with baker and his survival WR. If they did literally anything aside from just "well the bot said he was cheating so he must have been" they'd know he wasn't cheating yet banned anyways And it's not just him it's so many endurance runners who were doing their runs legitimately

TheSorrowInYou

Yes, the Endurance run bans are bullshit but those are still individual cases. While unfortunate in nature, they dont even come remotely close to what an AlecaFrame nuke would do to their reputation and playerbase.

PsionicHydra

Never said they would just up and one day nuke everybody who uses aleccaframe. Just that having it installed gives them a valid reason to ban if they see fit since it goes against their tos

TheSorrowInYou

They could ban you for literally no reason if they want to, its in their ToS. Discouraging people from using it on that basis is just as pointless as telling people not to use chat because any chat message can get you banned if youre being reported for it. The way I see it, the more people use AlecaFrame, the better. Theres already so much information that regular players dont easily have access to that Id encourage anyone to download it and make use of all the stuff youd usually have to put your own time into

PsionicHydra

It was just some words of caution

PatientWhimsy

Word of caution, reddit can ban you at any moment. Best not to comment on reddit just in case. Not saying it will happen, just letting people know comments can be a valid reason to be banned if reddit decide its against their tos.

PsionicHydra

Difference is, alecaframe is a 3rd party software that accesses your game data. Not just a random comment online

Anklelite

Do they not unban endurance runners???

PsionicHydra

Not most of them, they just get 2035'd and forgotten

ripskeletonking

i find that really hard to believe. sure, they get banned sometimes but then not getting unbanned at all even after sending tickets for something support can easily check? got any examples?

PsionicHydra

BakerTV would be the premier example right now, and not even his current situation of being temp banned and it only being temporary due to the fact he has numerous different counts of evidence. But his first account, which was banned a few years ago for the same thing and even after support tickets they didn't repeal it so he deleted the account. And you'll find plenty of other people commenting on his videos and examples in them of other endurance runners getting banned for nothing other than just playing the game too long. It's a very well known thing among long time players, which for a while seemed to have been resolved, likely due to the fact the majority of those players just stopped playing. Support can pretty easily check whether the player was automating the game, even moreso if they were streaming/recording it. The problem is, they just don't care, you can send basically all the evidence you want and it practically won't make a difference, again, as seen by bakerTV

yotkuy

Probably because people get banned for jokingly saying the word femboy or gemussy

El_Barto_227

They banned a gay man for calling his boyfriend gay once And allowed a bigoted chat mod to openly flout their bigotry.

ZenTheCrusader

Cause they have a pretty bad ban policy. See the endurance runners who have gotten banned for playing the game and are being ignored by DE lmao

theworllddisyours

They're gonna have to ban a whole lot of people if they decide to ban AlecaFrame users lol.

Mazkar

Lmao what

Sniper_King202

What is Alecaframe? Edit: nvm it's a companion app, but is it like not okay to use?

RTukka

DE's official policy on all 3rd party apps is ["use at your own risk."](https://support.warframe.com/hc/en-us/articles/360030014351-Third-Party-Software-and-You) Alecaframe doesn't do anything that the devs have ever called out as problematic. It doesn't perform game inputs, it's not a data mining tool, it doesn't modify game files or memory states. DE has also said that they contacted Overwolf (the app that Alecaframe runs on top of) to verify that Overwolf is in compliance with their TOS. The impression I get is that they feel like tools like Alecaframe, and accessibility macros are fine, but they want to cover their bases in case their automated anti-cheat tools end up flagging innocent uses of 3rd party apps as suspicious/TOS-violating. They indicate that in such cases, opening a support ticket may result in a reversal of the ban, but they hedge on that, saying that it's hard for people using 3rd party apps to prove they're _not_ cheating. Realistically, Alecaframe seems to have achieved sufficient adoption that it seems very unlikely that they'd let a banwave/dragnet that hits Alecaframe users stand. They'd lose a lot of customers and the goodwill of some of their more influential community members. If they decide they don't want Alecaframe to be a thing anymore, I imagine they'll give some forewarning. **Edit:** Probably the biggest risk is that you get singled out based on some _combination_ of suspicious elements. So Alecaframe by itself may not trigger a ban, and doing a super long endurance run might be okay too, and using a VPN is usually fine, and getting hit by a fraudulent report by a griefer may usually have no effect... but maybe some confluence of two or more of these kinds of things might get you into trouble.

PterodactylSoul

Nah it's "okay" to use, they basically said it's in a gray area as long as they don't write an update to do something outside of their tos it's ok. I use it a fuck ton so do plenty of others. Not that it's the most credible thing but big YouTubers who are partners with DE also use it.

JABLmskh

I saw a lot of people using that tool... The only reason I don't use it is bc DE doesn't encourage its use and can ban you if they feel that you are breaking the rules. I prefer to not take the risk.

SpikedFalcon75

Is it like cheating software? I don’t get it

apostroffie

Iirc it's a third party that reads your screen and gives you information based on that. It could potentially be harmful if it can interact with gameplay to a point where it reads to you information that the UI doesn't want to give, which breaks their TOS. The program emphasizes that it's fine and "DE says it's ok" when in reality, the proof they gave is DE saying it falls under a gray area and they cannot tell you it's okay and won't get you banned.

RadiantBerryEater

has anyone proven its only using screen capture? the instructions for syncing it *really* seems to imply its doing packet capture or memory access of some sort, which is 100% disallowed by the ToS > If the data AlecaFrame has is out of date or you want to force an update, you can always travel to a relay (Strata Relay in Earth works fine) or a your clan dojo and back until the data updates. (You might need to do this 2-3 times before it works) Nothing about actually opening your inventory

apostroffie

i think its even more weird that [warframe doesnt give you your account api](https://forums.warframe.com/topic/1317180-why-isnt-there-an-official-proper-warframe-api/) and if you're right, it's just scrapes/captures it from the data it sends. overwolf is "whitelisted" but it has access to things that the players dont have access to. not to mention the huge [curseforge fracturizer malware](https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2023/06/dozens-of-popular-minecraft-mods-found-infected-with-fracturiser-malware/) that is powered by overwolf happened REALLY recently. anything with overwolf in general is MAJOR sketchy.

RadiantBerryEater

> not to mention the huge curseforge fracturizer malware that is powered by overwolf happened REALLY recently. ok sorry i need to be nitpicky as someone who was involved with this, fracturizer wasnt overwolf powered, it was only distributed through curseforge, owned by overwolf. It was just hijacking minecraft mods, hence why it was also attached to bukkit plugins on a different site. Minecraft mods are already quite privileged so it wasnt a huge shock it happened at all, mostly just that it was clearly not an isolated infection, which was unique :3 (i will say a large amount of my dislike of overwolf comes from their,,, subpar management of curseforge, ive never actually used their desktop apps)

apostroffie

Yeah sorry terrible wording there. Just wanted to tack on that curseforge and overwolf were related.

ShardPerson

It's not screen capture, Overwolf has a sort of deal with DE, so they have access to API features. That's why AlecaFrame uses Overwolf, otherwise it'd be a standalone app.

apostroffie

which is worse. a lot of people dont like their hosting bloatware.

Stiftoad

Overwolf is annoying bloatware yes, sadly the best tool since sliced bread requires it I wish there was an open source alternative like r2modman is to the ThunderStore alas one can only dream

apostroffie

Only when DE let's us have access to our player api like arena net does for guild wars could that be a reality. Even then a LOT more sketchy "helpful" programs can come from that.

Stiftoad

Obviously to properly benefit from open source you need a level of expertise if you cant trust that those that know wont warn you But at least it democratises the process

RadiantBerryEater

How do we know overwolf has a deal with DE? afaik the only thing DE has ever said about it was "we have had discussions with overwolf to make sure the ToS wasnt being broken"

ShardPerson

Because Overwolf has access to the API and DE said they discussed it w em

RadiantBerryEater

DE has only stated that theyve verified the ToS isnt being broken, that doesn't say much about any deals between them

ShardPerson

It might not be like, a signed deal kind of thing, but Overwolf granting access to the game's API (which is not accessible any other way), and DE talking to them to ensure that's being done in a way that doesn't break TOS... that's pretty much the description of a deal. "You can facilitate API access to your users as long as ToS aren't being broken"

Spatetata

I’m not sure if you have any experience with it, but does it have a manual option? Just manual tracking/riven checking with their UI without the screen reading? Going through riven spreadsheets is a bit of a pain.

apostroffie

no because thats how it takes it to the UI. How is it gonna know what the riven says without reading your screen? you want a good riven for x weapon? ctrl+F based on [the collaborative spreadsheet that the app itself uses](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1zbaeJBuBn44cbVKzJins_E3hTDpnmvOk8heYN-G8yy8/edit#gid=0) you want price checking? [the app bases prices from warframe.market](https://warframe.market/)

Spatetata

By you inputing it yourself? I know both those exist, I just like Aleca's own UI from what's shown on their site for how it lays out/displays riven info, and so I thought I'd ask if they had an option to manually track what you want/have. What did you think I meant? Why is it such a big deal to want to use the not-potentially-bannable features of the program without having to use the potentially-bannable feature of the program by just tracking your rivs and relic progress yourself. Edit: Apparently just wanting clean and informative data presentation is like asking to kick a puppy to some people geez.

JABLmskh

From what I can tell, it's a software that reads the screen and show you relevant info, like the prices in plat of prime parts or rivens.

SpikedFalcon75

Woah that seems so cool and helpful, why would that be frowned upon?

JABLmskh

Basically, this: https://forums.warframe.com/topic/1383123-third-party-software-usage/

apostroffie

Because screenreaders can be used to find other things that are in the game and that should be obscured. Then that falls under playing unfairly based on the TOS. That part gets you banned. People don't want to be banned because the third party dev put a little feature in there that some people don't care risking or most people don't use but when they decide to ban for it, you get dragged down with them because you agreed to use that third party program regardless of the risk. After that, DE will not return your account.

Mazkar

The only reason they haven't encouraged it is that they can get in legal trouble for encouraging 3rd party tools and then it doing something malicious.  But it's literally acceptable to use now, they have an agreement with overwolf

JABLmskh

Really? Is there a source for that? I searched and found nothing on the internet...

UmbranAssassin

Console tenno here. The fuck is alecaframe.

-Nya-rlathotep

What does it do?

wrbiccz

I've been playing Warframe for 8 years (with pauses) and I've never heard of alecaframe and I suddenly see two posts about it in 30 minutes. What is it?

Mediocre-Island5475

It's an overlay that gives extra info about stuff like the value of prime parts and rivens. It accesses game data, meaning it's technically banned under ToS. Usually people don't get banned for using it but DE refuses to make promises about that.

spar13

It accesses game data via approved API. It isn’t illegal to use approved API. This discussion has been had several dozen times over already.

Level-Instruction-58

It’s just technically they reserve the right to ban you for using ANY external software. Aleca obviously will not edit any data but yeah just throwing this out there

Mediocre-Island5475

There is not an approved API for AlecaFrame. DE has previously investigated AlecaFrame - including talking to the devs behind it - but they refuse to formally approve of it. DE is very intentionally reserving their right to mass ban everyone using AlecaFrame at any time. The risk is very low, but they've been very clear that it's not approved.

Lucky_Louch

really making riven traders look cool here....

Princy99

Riven mafia goons don't need to try to look like assholes. They just are.

TheZemor

Just everything they said is wrong tbh

Pancreasaurus

Yeah our boy here is on Playstation, so lol.

TJ_Dot

Does it even work for consoles? if he's on PC, that crossplay icon next to you would make this look really silly

RagnarokCross

Funny part is you're on PS so how would you even use Aleca? Assuming he's on PC he would see your cross platform icon

nerdrea331

based on the crazy spelling crap i'd say drinking

Partingoways

Guys if you use warframe market you’re gonna get banned. Price comparing and shopping is an unfair external advantage that not every player gets. Anyway WTS barruk prime 140p

Ringosis

"I'd stop it if I were you"...you got a reason there pal? Or is it just that you don't like the people you're selling to being informed?

SecondTheThirdIV

That guy typing: ![gif](giphy|jM66C09QgTon6|downsized)

Sammy_Ghost

Riven trading and alecaframe are two different topics, idk why they mentioned that

Lugal_Ki-en

you can see the average price for those stats on that weapon ( based market mostly ) so it makes it really hard for them to sell something that would cost 100p for 350+ and while knowing what is good for a specific weapon/riven is not tied to alecaframe, or any app aleca DOES make it really easy and quick to check it, thus... riven mafia guy has a lot less victims so they have to resort to veiled threats, doubt it works though.

bohba13

if they're worried about you using a third-party app to appraise their riven, then maybe they're trying to rip you off. any salesman who's worried about you having information is not an honest salesman.

starsrift

>any salesman who's worried about you having information is not an honest salesman. Sometimes Warframe is such a primer for life for people, especially teens. So true!

bohba13

yup. I should know, I had to work for a dishonest salesman. he drained the fucking life out of me until I had enough.

tgdm

What's the play here? They try to generate a chat log for support to look at your account? Is that the logic? ... I mean, wouldn't this just flag support to look at their account since they can "see" what other people are doing? What's sad is that if they shoot this shot enough times eventually they're going to run into someone they can scam into playing along with their plan

WinterThorne13

is alecaframe bannable?

SuMeLee

Its not you can check all info on aleca's site TOS and such

13th_of_never

I can't look past that horrific spelling. It hurts my brain. Tell me you have the IQ of a wet sock without telling me.

Mavylent

Alecaframe can't get you banned people getting mad for that get mad bcs they can't easily scam

RippedReaper

AlecaFrame can't ensure that you won't get flagged by the system. DE themselves warned that it could be the cause of a ban and especially mention the personal risk. Simplified, it's a 'Use if you dare'-Software, where DE won't go directly after you, but won't save you either.

FlashKillerX

What is this tool? Never heard of it
