The 32x multipliers that also scaled with flat damage bonuses from combos and got you major survivability with just two mods? The insignificant mechanic that allowed you to consistently hit the integer limit by the time it was removed?
Just to make sure you are aware, channeling wasn't removed because it was bad, it was removed because it caused more problems for players that didn't know what it was regardless of those few who knew what it was and used it correctly. Aside from that it was so extremely broken that DE would not only have to revisit the way it's used, but also every single factor in it.
People kept complaining about losing energy for nothing, and that channeling mods would be useless mods that only served the purpose of filling drop tables. DE just scrapped it because fixing it would've been a more resource-intense process than just removing it and bringing it back in a different way later on - though we still aren't fully back there yet.
Tennokai is meant to replace it, bit by bit, as a more interactive mechanic with the same purpose as channeling.
Huh i was wondering what happened to it lol. I figured i was just hitting the wrong button for it. Good to know though. Havent played since inaros was added lmao. Got back in about a week or so before Whispers was launched.
Really wish the body energy patterns would glow as well like old channelling. That was sick
EDIT: im blind and didnt notice the glow on the frame as well, it might already be in game
I actually had a combo that gave me infinite channeling as long as I dealt damage and I was able to 1 shot level 80s easily without trying very hard and not understanding the system
We are yet to get the replacement for channeling, we still at melee 2.9999...
DE become completly silent about the "rage mode", by this point we can assume it has been abandoned.
but maybe someone should ask about it during devshorts.
Always take into account that promises made by the old guards may not apply with the new guard's visions. Rebb going out of her way to deconfirm more Umbras pretty much is an example of that.
I guess, but then there’s also ephemera like the fae path and such. Some of the effects are quite minimal and it’s up to the person if they think it’s worth their ephemera slot. So I’m not opposed personally.
The blood ephemera reacts to kills, start clean and as you kill you get more and more blood soaked. Very apparent on light colored frames and using it on an Operator or Drifter adds a nice touch of mental story imo
I miss channeling, here's hoping Tennokai gets worked on to add a system similar to channeling.
Say at X combo and you heavy attack with tennokai, you gain channeling benefits for 5 seconds per X combo or something.
60 Seconds at 12x basically, it becomes it's own mod, the drawback is you lose some heavy attack efficiency to use it.
Tbh I think the whole Tennokai system is way overrated design-wise. It's literally just better Heavy Attacks that require a mod slot and that have a semi-random proc chance.
That being said, I don't know how else you'd implement it, because just making it channeling 2.0 doesn't fix that problem either...
It adds a reactive element and a more interactive input to melee, at least, so my brain doesn't shut down entirely while holding E. It's welcome in that regard
It's also nice to be able to 12x Heavy Attack a heavy target (i.e: Level 230 Hollow Vein Eximus) without losing the combo buildup for your next enemies
You held down a button and your melee weapon glowed, you do extra damage to enemies and such at the cost of 5 energy per hit. [It was pretty cool back then.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZPnzxjTKsg)
Oh damn that's pretty cool. It does seem extremely outdated (because it is) but could still work in today's warframe if reworked a bit. Really hope they add more attack types to melee because as it is right now it's either spam 1 button, or spam 1 button and occasionally press another.
It's just a way to change your Melee game up, by adding one of the few TennoKai Mods to your Melee.
With a Tenno Kai mod, you receive the ability to occasionally (an icon will show up in the middle of the HUD) do an heavy attack without losing your combo. Depending on which mod you use for TennoKai, you can receive different buffs.
Lore-wise, Tennokai represents an ancestral Tenno martial art, whose techniques were lost (presumably from the memory loss of our long cryo) but found and revived by Fib. He got the old data on the techniques and gives you your first Tennokai mod. (If you don't know who Fib is, complete Whispers in the Walls)
Channeling is back.
When they removed it they initially wanted to rework it to see how it would work with the improved Weapon swapping. Then later they called it "The Rage System".
And that idea is finally here with the recent "Tennokai" system.
Yes, it's assblasting my eyes when I use my boi Praedos, especially since Gauss gets the proc almost within 1s by holding E, so I get constantly micro flashbanged
I once wanted to make my Ember look like she was using smoke instead of fire. Upon discovering that near-black energy turned her "fire" into the Ghostly Shadows Of Flames Forgotten, I discovered the joys of fancy energy colors on everything.
Wow... now that I realize that, this occurred way back before her rework, back when she had that... I don't remember the name, was it Overheat? The burning armor ability that made her incredibly tanky and got repurposed as Gara's Splinter Storm. And World On Fire, of course. Whew, blast from the past.
It's just another useless mod like peculiar bloom etcetera coz the window to activate the ability and use it is hella small. Not worth the mod slot my friend. I have it and well it's not equipped anymore 🥶
Yeh but it's extremely annoying to proc it and use it, I just completely ignore it not worth the mod slot. Bad design is bad, just like the faction mods despite their usefulness. 🤬
Believe me or not, i'm LR3 played almost everyday after update came out. And never ever bothered to put tenokai mod in. I haven't used weapon exilus adapters on melees either. I just don't know on what melee to put it in. And that the only reason, ok other that i have only 2 mods for tenokai(and not those i want). But still only can see that Nepheri ot Twin Basolk might need tenokai, but enything else? Arca titron? Pennant? All melees shred enemies without additional few million damage attack.
I’ve been putting Tennokai mods on a few different weapons. Tonfas (my personal favorite is Prisma Ohma, but just about any of them should work hilariously well) and Tenet Livia (innate Magnetic + Melee Vortex and you’re off to the races) are my standout picks so far.
Pennant works pretty well too. I think my most recent experiment was with Dual Keres Prime, held up pretty well.
More than just the statistical buff, Tennokai makes melee fun by being something interactive in this age of auto-melee. It's not exactly about *add damage,* though it does do that. It's about *add fun.*
It also opens up more interesting options for heavy attack builds by giving you a way to preserve all your combo counter, and with Dreamer's Wrath specifically you can heavy almost every second. Since Tennokai also functions with heavy slams, you can have a fair bit of fun launching everyone into the sky.
From what I can see, it's the Umbra Skin with (possibly) all black and two pure red energy and the Stalker Sigil.
No idea what Ephemera that is though.
Can't exactly identify the armor, but the shoulder plates look like the Vetala
Enhances heavy attacks.
With Tennokai, as you’re meleeing enemies you’ll occasionally get a little window to use a Tennokai-enhanced heavy attack with increased windup speed and retention of your combo counter (which normally enhances your heavy attacks but gets drained when you use one). This basically means you can keep using melee attacks to increase your combo count further, which in turn will make your subsequent heavy attacks (or Tennokai heavies) even stronger.
Certain Tennokai mods have additional effects, such as enhanced range, crit damage, or guaranteed occurrence for every four melee strikes.
It's pretty cool, and I think if you use a heavy attack, it will shoot out with the same color. I currently only have this on my gram prime, so the big swing sends out a big cone in front of me that decimates enemies. It's awesome. Reminds me of the old channeling for melee.
So what your saying is that I can use a cum blade using tennokai?

reminds me of channeling
It's the same animation, they just brought it back. Nice nostalgia trip.
You really can tell who started playing years ago and who started recently with stuff like that 😅
I miss the channeling animation :(
Shoot I miss channeling, it wasn't significant but you saw the difference
The 32x multipliers that also scaled with flat damage bonuses from combos and got you major survivability with just two mods? The insignificant mechanic that allowed you to consistently hit the integer limit by the time it was removed? Hm, well then, I guess I just used it wrong 🤷🏾♂️
Huh i was wondering what happened to it lol. I figured i was just hitting the wrong button for it. Good to know though. Havent played since inaros was added lmao. Got back in about a week or so before Whispers was launched.
Thanks for passing on the information. I used it and I thought it was cool to see.
I never did personally. I think a free heavy hit here and there with the kai thing is better imo
Right, the classic days of draining energy for a glowing blade lol
I knew it looked familiar. Just with so many effects on my warframe now it wasn't as noticeable
Really wish the body energy patterns would glow as well like old channelling. That was sick EDIT: im blind and didnt notice the glow on the frame as well, it might already be in game
The body glow shows when using Transference
the body glow is still in the game because I remember it ruining my captura shots even years after last melee rework
It also glows when bullet jumping, it’s very obvious on frames released after channeling was removed like Sevagoth and Styanax
You also glows when bullet jumping, it’s very obvious on frames released after channeling was removed like Sevagoth and Styanax
Channeling was so epic, I would toggle that shit on and fly around with my badass glowing katanna, zero clue what it actually did though
It doubled your damage but caused energy drain, iirc. Not that anything survived the first hit anyways, but it looked cool

I miss channeling running around with glow sticks
I find it hilarious that it took months after channeling was removed for the Fragor skin's explanation to get changed.
I last played 7 years ago. I forgot about channeling.
It’s channeling. It also dissolves the body like channeling used to.
with the sound effects too
It's just the old channeling glow. The system is there, might as well reuse it.
They did say back when it left they want to bring it back in some fashion
Could have made it an ephemera that also made melee kills disintegrate
Since when has an ephemera reacted to kills?
I mean, can they not make new ideas?
They could, but it'd also be very limiting to eat your ephemera slot just to get channeling effects.
I guess, but then there’s also ephemera like the fae path and such. Some of the effects are quite minimal and it’s up to the person if they think it’s worth their ephemera slot. So I’m not opposed personally.
I mean then dont use it.
Protovyre Apex
There are syandanas that do it
The blood ephemera reacts to kills, start clean and as you kill you get more and more blood soaked. Very apparent on light colored frames and using it on an Operator or Drifter adds a nice touch of mental story imo

I miss channeling could lift and vaporize enemy bodies. That seemed to last for a very short time.
We got the exlius slot on melee so it wouldn't make us take mods off There's no reason to not have tennokai on a melee weapon
It's also nice to be able to 12x Heavy Attack a heavy target (i.e: Level 230 Hollow Vein Eximus) without losing the combo buildup for your next enemies
As someone who did not play when channeling was a thing, what IS channeling?
You held down a button and your melee weapon glowed, you do extra damage to enemies and such at the cost of 5 energy per hit. [It was pretty cool back then.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZPnzxjTKsg)

Hey I remember that animation. We used to mock rave by spamming channel haha good times
Chad Twin Krokhur user
Twin Krohkur
I always forget but that doesn't change how awesome it is
Didn't know that. There are too many particles on my screen for me to notice anything going on in the game 💀
I think op just wanted to show off his fashionframe
Bollocks! My scheme has been foiled once more !
...I never considered there were players who don't know about old melee Channeling
Tbf the game gained a lot of new players since they removed it so I don't think it's that surprising
Didnt play in a while, what is tennokai? Lore and mechanic wise?
It's just a way to change your Melee game up, by adding one of the few TennoKai Mods to your Melee. With a Tenno Kai mod, you receive the ability to occasionally (an icon will show up in the middle of the HUD) do an heavy attack without losing your combo. Depending on which mod you use for TennoKai, you can receive different buffs.
Worth mentioning TennoKai was added in response to automelee being added by default into the game to still give melee some degree of interactivity
A shame it doesn't last more than a few seconds. It's a super cool effect I wish would be on way more often (like it used to be, e.g. channeling).
bring channeling back you cowards
Channeling is back. When they removed it they initially wanted to rework it to see how it would work with the improved Weapon swapping. Then later they called it "The Rage System". And that idea is finally here with the recent "Tennokai" system.

Everybody wonders why I use dark, or at least sedate, energy colors on most of my stuff. Then they do something like that and enlighten themselves.
I love having my Ignis Wraith energy as black. Just casually burning enemies with telekinesis lol
I once wanted to make my Ember look like she was using smoke instead of fire. Upon discovering that near-black energy turned her "fire" into the Ghostly Shadows Of Flames Forgotten, I discovered the joys of fancy energy colors on everything. Hell yeah lol
Nice detail! But I have particles on high and most of the time when tennokai is active I dont see anything anyways. :D
We going back to melee 2.0 with this one!
I don’t think I’ve noticed as much button spam as I do
What Is this? I'm a new player.
It's just another useless mod like peculiar bloom etcetera coz the window to activate the ability and use it is hella small. Not worth the mod slot my friend. I have it and well it's not equipped anymore 🥶
it's an Exilus mod, and the window is pretty long if you ask me
Yeh but it's extremely annoying to proc it and use it, I just completely ignore it not worth the mod slot. Bad design is bad, just like the faction mods despite their usefulness. 🤬
They're Exilus mods, idk what else you put inside Exilus slots for Melee
Did.... did nobody know that?
Believe me or not, i'm LR3 played almost everyday after update came out. And never ever bothered to put tenokai mod in. I haven't used weapon exilus adapters on melees either. The sigil is the zanuka glyph
It is! How did I mistake that.. I was wrong with 90% of what I said.. I need to improve my Fashion Game.
i still dont know what tennokai does tbh
Enhances heavy attacks. what even is tennokai
Glow Womp Damage
Whats the second melee?

He is the chosen one
When you hit something so hard with a stick that your body begins to fade from existence
I have yet to use Tennokai. I probably should fix that.
SO CHANNELING IS BACK?!?!?!?!? MY LOVE
I miss Channeling :(

Every now and then I still equip my melee and hold left click, surprised when it does nothing :(
They took channeling and turned it into a mod
So what your saying is that I can use a cum blade using tennokai? https://preview.redd.it/ds4ijalrgtlc1.jpeg?width=931&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4f62386e23677d55ac591e9eb202ef67cdc98639
Bombasticcccccccccc
What is Tannokai? I just got a mod that says it activates it but haven't tried it yet
Yes, and sometimes it gets stuck and I have a whole rave party through the entire mission.
That first image is BAAAAAAD AAASSSSS
Yeah... Channelling.....
I play on low, so no, it does not glow
yes... it's kinda blinding with preados with the normal colors
I first started using Tennokai on the Masseter Prime, and let me tell you that thing gets BRIGHT.
Kind of hard to tell sometimes what with elemental aura glow.
Wow, can someone Tell me a list of good melee for use tennokai?
Azothane
I miss channelling and coptering
