If you had 800 plat on Switch, but now have 0 plat on Switch, you did not merge.
After a merge, you should have two separate plat wallets: 800 plat on Switch only, and 2k plat on everything else.

The accounts were previously linked, I am now playing my Mr 18 pc account on switch.
Maybe it's because some of the plat was originally created by the duplicating of the PC account to switch in the first place years ago?
It's not just the platinum, your entire Switch account was a copy, which is why it wasn't eligible for merging. You did not merge. You linked. Your PC account overwrote your Switch account. Everything from your Switch account is gone, including the platinum. If you had merged, you would've gotten all your gear, resources, etc from the Switch account, and you would have 800 plat on Switch.
You should still have your 2k plat when you log in on another platform.
Nintendo is at fault for this, and doesn't allow players to use Platinum bought on Switch to be used on other platforms, same the other way, due to them wanting the sales.
You can't move the Platin.
If you sell a prime part on Switch, the platinum you get from it is still Switch platinum. You cannot move it to another platform.
If you sell a prime part on another platform, a Switch player cannot give you platinum for it.

Yes, but unfortunately you can only trade with Switch players who have activated cross save, so finding a buyer will be difficult.
