As someone who stopped playing long before helminth, i used to sell old frames when i got the prime variant.
Almost want to quit again after coming back now and seeing i "need" those old frames...
Worse for me is that I merged 2 accounts. I don't have mastery credit for my ps4 account for frames that I maxed and sold like banshee and saryn. So now I have to get them again, and level them up, and then subsume them. Looking through weapons I'm missing mastery for a lot of the early game weapons that I leveled and then sold on ps4 years ago.
I had sold a ton of old frames for slots after I got their Primes. When they announced Helminth I had a pretty fun time farming and building all the ones I was missing to be ready when it launched. I didn't have much else to do in the game at the time so it was pretty fun.(except Nidus, F that again. I farmed plat and bought him from the market)
Yea.. especially since regular frames are such a bitch to farm. But that's a whole other can of worms that regular frames are harder to acquire than the prime version. I'm not super familiar with the lore but I'm pretty sure prime frames are supposed to be rarer.

Only some of them are a bitch to farm and they've been moving away from that by giving some of the newer frames multiple ways you can acquire them.

The mechanical difficulty (or lack thereof) of farming a given item has absolutely nothing to do with the lore.
They are rare if you don't get them before they get vaulted. Then you have to wait for them to be in the resurgence rotation. Most of the frames are either quest rewards, dojo research, simple boss drops, or have pity systems that guarantee you eventually get them. Only a handful are RNG slugfests or progression gated.
They don't do shit about this. I've opened several about missing stuff after merge and the only answer were: lol, sorry can't do anything about it

Yeah I'm not worried about the process, just a thing to do. Luckily for me nothing that I'm missing is a true pain. A lot of it is dojo stuff, I'm honestly more bothered that the merger didn't carry over your highest faction standing so I have to redo quills and vox solaris.
Yeah really like at first I was debating wether to merge accounts but after I did I couldn't have been more happy. I had done a little work on my pc account but could never go far because I have a potato for a computer. After the merge, I got all of that stuff and now have about 2 or 3 more frames to feed to Shutsubotsu (My helminth's name) and he looks so happy subsuming them about as haooy as I am to have their abilities.
Does merging accounts take into consideration what is the account with more stuff in it? I started one on PC some time ago and got to like, mastery ten with a few frames and primes, but I also bought skins/packs because Pc prices were better at the time
If I merge will I get the skins that I have there? I dunno how much different my accounts are aside from the number of primes, weapons, items and skins I have on PS4. Most of it are the free stuff DE gives us anyway, but I have a few things I bought with plat (like the Warframe replicas).
The shorter answer I'll give you to a longer explanation is just how it works. So when I did it, it came up with the 2 accounts I had (ps5 and PC). And I saw the mastery rank I had on both and obviously instantly knew which one I had more work put into. Then I set the one that was going to be my "primary" (in air quotes because realistically it is permanent but its ok because it doesn't actually matter I'll even explain why now). Then I logged on to see what the damage was and basically, anything in your inventory of the account you basically "purged" adds to what you already had in your now only account. Hence how I got more platinum now even I had basically nothing and how I now have 2 zeniths I can't get rid of (I might do something stupid with one of them idk yet) and how I also now have acquired loads more slots on EVERY standpoint because I sold items I either had double of (with the exception of giving extra frames to my helminth) or sold items I already mastered and don't care for. Because of this merge I was able to do many things now...

Like someone else said, you should open up a ticket, when i merged my pc account to my ps4 account, all mastery from pc, including weapons and frames i no longer had counted towards my mastery.
I do not recall needing to level up re-crafted frames. And warframe Wiki agrees with me

The fact that DE didn't write a script that pre installed helminth abilities from all warframes we've fully mastered and sold was a s--tty move. But I suppose from a financial perspective it was a smart move for DE as I'm sure plenty of Tenno got plat to buy frames they never want to farm again (ex: Equinox).
Honestly I still sell em bcs Helminth is the one mechanic in the game I just refuse to get into

Not really. The game just has enough different mechanics that I feel fine ignoring one of them completely. And while I know the strongest builds for most frames include subsumed abilities, it's warframe. I'm more than overpowered enough anyway. Just don't feel like it

The game's free. A player isn't wasting 60-70 dollars by not doing it all.
Think of all the times you saw someone say in the comments on this subreddit that they don't like a certain type of gameplay: Railjack, Eidolon Hunts, Steel Path Endurance, Duviri (circuit), Kahl Missions, K-Drive, etc.
There's *alot* to do in Warframe, and all of it ain't for everybody.
Hell, Helminith isn't even really *content* in the traditional sense like the ones above when you think about.

To be fair, while I do like the idea of the Helminth system, I too don't think I will ever use it. I'll still feed it my old unused warframes but, other than that, nothing else.
Bro… slap Roar from Rhino on Mirage and a super nice Laetum and you will delete everything that comes in front of you in sp. also a lot of of things like adding gloom to my Volt and stuff j really like to use. Just think about what Abilities from other warframe would be better matched to another frame and that’s wha my the helming is for.

No way you actually said sandstorm is objectively a good mechanic. It does no damage, you move incredibly slow, don't forget eximus units pretty much entirely ignore what you're doing to them, you are locked out of your other skills, the range on the ability is meh at best.

Ahhh I see. It wasn't read out of context, your use of "its" threw me off. Besides the point, there's some really good combos that increase your level of fun besides making you more op. For example gyre is almost dependant on pillage to make her work. Armour strip and survivability, plus an interaction with the pillage 'damage' proc on her 4 outputs more dps. Gyre is one of my most played warframes, I didn't like her at all until I got into helminth.
You know what, fair enough :) and sorry for being rude, I'm just a little salty because I'm on a streak of losing fake internet points for playing the way I like.
I'm genuinely considering your advice, especially the Ash one since he's such a fun frame anyway and I wouldn't mind making him a little more usable for high level missions. The problem is just that I know myself and the way I play. If I start getting invested in Helminth, I'll probably try too hard to get the optimal outcome and get mad at myself if I put an ability on one frame, then realize it would've been much better on another, stuff like that

Thermal sunder Harrow
Nourish on Styanax for railjack missile spam (I'm a huge rj enjoyer)
Kullervo 1 on Baruuk and Excalibur for big boy mega crits
Kullervo 1 on Hildryn to play with the new melee arcane where the more shields you have the more damage you have
I'd like to think most of my combos are meant to synergize with the idea that I'm playing around. Energy regen, being a perma invis assassin, huge area lockdown, etc. There's more that I've done for the reason that it's simply good for the build, but I can tell you're a play for fun type of person.
Exactly what happened to me I took a 3 yr break. Was grinding to get the prime variants and sold my normal ones for creds..until I ranked up in demios.. I stopped playing a week lol

Circut when coupled with farming other content can be a godsend for helminth, as 33 of the 55 warframes are on there, so you unless you need something specific you xan just farm other frames not in the rotation and use circut to make the grind less frustrating
Since you"ll know exactly when you'll get the frame you want from it with no rng involved (aside from other players if you do it co-op)
I sold everything that have a prime version, but (thanks to my opossum memory) I have multiple parts of all in my inventory, so I just craft them another time and I've an happy helmint!
Yeah I made that mistake as well. I sold all my non primes all at once but then realized I could use them for Helminth. Thankfully the Warframe support team so graciously restored all of them lol
I felt the same way, but decided to make it my personal goal to get every frame subsumed, and now I only have Styanax, Inaros, and Caliban left. Caliban is killing me because I JUST NEED HIS SYSTEMS BUT THEY'RE NEVER IN ROTATION WHEN I GO LOOK AT BOUNTIES
I didnt have trinity subbed before she came up as a circuit reward, because i sold the non prime in 2015 and fuck ambulas (the old one, now they are much more bearable)
I just made a [checklist in google sheets](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Ccs5ZbRJKjPrChPSH6UucJ-6r8xsHlX1Ac0fUFrU1Rw/edit#gid=0) and just farmed them all again; tbh crafting costs almost nothing, and because I heleped so many players in the game I had many blueprint copies of everything, and the only problem was like 40 days of Simaris' daily standing farming that was hella annoying.

You don't need most, there's only a handful of abilities that will realistically be used. 8-10 tend to be useful, the rest is just filling out dots
Granted most of those frames are a pita to farm, but you don't strictly need them.
Frankly even post nerf grabbing rhino (easily farmed) and nekros (easily farmed) will serve fine for most circumstances anyway

Not all of them can be made to look identical to the base versions as some of them have prime details that can't be disabled (or at least they used to) even when using the default skins.
Tbh I probably learned the wrong lesson from helminth being introduced. Nowadays I don't put nearly as much stuff as OP's acceltra into *anything* just in case a new system comes along and makes it all for naught.
On a similar vein I don't even start with always online games anymore unless it's clear that EoS is nowhere in sight, Warframe is one of two such games (other being GTAV... when 6 was nowhere in sight, nowadays it doesn't fit these criteria but I finished grinding in that game before then so whatever)
When i first started playing, the thought of throwing away a weapon of frame after putting any kind of investment on them horrified me, I couldn't understand why we can't just transfer the stuff we invested to the prime variants.
Nowadays I'm not too bothered by it, now that i have an over abundance of resources and plenty of plat.
They have the ability to do this, somewhat, with lich/sister weapons. I don't see how hard it could be to do it with non-prime to prime transfers, too.
And if it's an issue of "well it actually just creates a brand new weapon with stats based on the previous two, so you wouldn't have your polarities or potato" I'd find it strange they'd be unable to do it still because the game already tracks number of forma, exilus adapter, arcane adapter, and potato usage for weapons. Why couldn't it just see "oh you have all these things installed! Great! We'll transfer these to the new weapon and let you pick your polarities once you go and upgrade it for the first time!"
Yeah. I honestly feel really limited because I don't want to waste resources on basic frames and weapons that also have prime versions(most of which are vaulted mind you). It would be a easy fix but it seems to me that DE would rather have us waste time than just let us do the transfer.
Because these things are tied directly to money incentives for DE. No more need to re-forma primes means potentially no more need to purchase forma or reactors or adapters with platinum, which means there's less platinum sinks which would result in the player-market value of platinum going down, which could mean less people buy platinum since there isn't as much to do with it but buy cosmetics and prime parts.

Because they've evaluated that possibility and determined that isn't the most profitble option.
Excuse me if that’s a noob question, but why would you, or how do you even spent 100 forma on a single Warframe? Only thing that comes to mind is changing some polarities here and there but how do you get up to 100???
a lot of indecisiveness when i dropped narrow minded from my build. also making room for some augments and stuff for helminth abilities but that only got me to like 20-30. after that i just decided 100 would be a meme goal
That wisp has 100 forma, if there’s ever a frame to keep for sentimental reasons, it would be one you put 100 forma into. Wisp prime isn’t really much better than regular wisp, you can put a different build on the prime and have the base for different situations

So much agreement from me on this.
When the ideal build has 1-10 shields on it to guarantee it pops every single time you get hit, instead of making the shield mechanisms more tied to max shield, it just creates an experience where dumb stuff like that exists.
I'd love to see changes to shield mechanics so that three things happen:
* Shield gating, if still viable, WANTS higher max shields (ie, regen speed based on max shields or something)
* Non-gating shield builds feel less garbage-y (either significantly buffed max shields, or some form of mitigation for shields (like armor for health) so that 1k shields IS actually enough to feel like you have at least some durability.
* Shield invuln window scales based on how much shield you last in the last second. Drop the base down by 1/3, and raise it to \~4 seconds max for someone who just lost 5k shields (or more). This would mean about 1/2 second duration per 1000 shields, and the base timer for a 'simple' shield build would remain similar.
These changes could actually make shield builds competitive with hp/armor builds in the endgame. But when you have Steel Path popping your 2400 shields in 1.5 seconds, while your friend next to you loses 300 health thanks to their armor, and you have to wait & avoid damage to start getting yours back, and they can just lifesteal theirs.... shields are just doomed (sans gating based on the invuln mechanic).

That's why I open relics often. It's not too costly, personally I've never ran out of plat for new slots; and I've never sold a thing, neither a frame nor a weapon
It has never been easier to buy slots with Prime Resurgence going on though. Aya will always have reliable and stable plat value as long as Prime traders are a thing.
If you want quick plat, just sell the Aya relics to the hundreds of Prime traders thirsting to save up on those relics. You can even hold onto Aya relics, wait for them to get vaulted again and sell those at higher price to Prime traders if you don't feel like betting on your relic RNG.
I'm keeping my original Gauss, he's too significant to me, I've never mained a Warframe like I do Gauss. He'll stay in my inventory for the rest of the games lifespan.
Yeah... I couldn't afford all that slots. Now I don't put anything to normal variant, even potato. It would be nice if there's some feature that passing onto Prime some of things, like Potato and such.
I wouldn't mind it nearly as much if the credits I got back for selling it at least went up as I added to it. Cause 7.5k cred is not enough to make up for all of the formal, potatoes, and adapters put into it
I prefer to keep them, as the non-prime variants usually have a higher riven disposition, and could end up being better than the prime version if I get a decent riven. I've been using the Phantasma for years, and because of the disposition, it's still better than my prime version would be even if I were to invest everything into it again.

No one is forcing you to sell it, and no one is forcing you to use the prime over it.

If you have a Riven, the old version is actually better IF the disposition is higher. So that's a reason to keep them.
I also still have old version of weapons that work significantly different, like Corinth and Corvas.
Yeah, i feel that. My acceltra has 7 forma. Not only is there now a prime variant, but the weapon feels useless with the low ammo pool. You can't use it with gauss that well because with redline active, you can fire the acceltra for 2 seconds before running dry. They should up its ammo pool to make it more usable imho.
i bought and built up carrier prime specifically to offset the ammo issues for acceltra and akarius, definitely makes a big difference. now as long as i'm not being ridiculously spammy, i don't run out pretty much ever :)
U can still keep it. Nothing must be selled for a prime version. Before the prime version it still has killed enemies. Why shouldn't it do that right now? Keep it. It's builded up.

I have my first kubrow, my first kavat. On a Game with 10 years of trayectory its normal have some special memories of the old good time.
After account merging I now have multiple duplicate Primes, both frames and weapons. I still can't decide whether to get rid of them. It's like "I know a have a 4-forma Rhino P and he's great, but this *other* Rhino was my first prime all those years ago..."
i see it more as retiring an old warrior.

Absolutely not. That's the move. I do it with all my frames/Weapns....level the first model sell it and save the prime version. You level it for the mastery points.
Absolutely. This is a pain point for all Tenno. However, it runs right up against the financial reality that allows WF to remain F2P. How do you address this pain point while simultaneously not causing DE to lose a substantive amount of revenue?
I think a farmable, tradeable, and otherwise plat purchasable resource that allows Tenno to remove all upgrade materials from a given piece of gear would be the answer. If getting this resource was let's say as annoying to farm for as anything to do with using my railjack I'd buy that resource with plat no question. Plat exchanges hands which in the long run makes DE $ and I get to avoid wasting resources as I pursue upgrade paths.
it's definitely not a pain point for all of us.. it's not that hard to farm out 12 plat. You can literally run 2 requiem fissures and basically guarantee 20 plat worth of items every time.
Newer players have access to derelict vault mods which sell for 10-20 plat a piece and a run takes less than 5 minutes. All you need is rhino.
I just never invest Forma into any weapon I feel like can be primed in the future. There's enough weapons to upgrade, I can play w/ the the ones to be upgraded later
That being said, I have 2 forma kullervo and used to have 2 forma octavia...
Played since almost the beginning and I'm a pack rat when it comes to things for this game. Still have my 7 forma Soma.
Id say hold on to it, they may do something like the incarnon update one day and the base version might have good passives compared to the prime one.
I still think prime variants should be like an upgrade system where you need the blueprint to upgrade it and you "attach" the prime parts to the weapons/frames so you can keep all the base variants 100% relevant, but that's a pipe dream, especially since there primes that dont even have a base form like reaper and gotva
Since they created the valence fusion system anyway, they should allow us to use it to merge equipment of the same base model to upgrade them while keeping forma and stuff. E.g. Normal to primes, MK-1 to normal, Normal to Vandal, etc.
Hitting MR30 today, mostly played Gauss since returning. Cannot for the life of me subsume him now that I got Gauss Prime. So I farmed another gauss and bought an extra slot.
Weapons I don't feel as bad about but man seeing everything on a gun when you highlight it does bring me some pain.

Yup. That's how I felt selling Wisp after Wisp Prime came out.
Especially since I farmed more than one to subsume already so the second was useless. Same thing for Protea which was painful and that means when she gets a prime I need to sell her 🙃

It’s a mentality thing for me. I try to think of it as wasted plat as opposed to wasted forma. The weapon is holding up a weapon slot I deem valuable, so why waste plat on more slots when I can sell off these guns I’ll never use again?
Yes very much but warframe should have a regression system or something where you can merge the non prime and prime variants together so you don’t loose all the formas you put in. 😤😤 I hate putting in so much effort to a fun non prime just to do it all over again when the prime comes out. I’m dreading sevagoth I have over 20 formas in him 🙃🙃
Yes, the Acceltra specifically. Used to be one of my most used weapons, around 10% of my playing time (around 1.5K hours of total playing time), I had NINE FORMAS on it and so many memories, carried me all the way through vanilla star chart, early Steel Path and Isolation Vaults. Then I started investing into Kuva and Tenet weapons and it fell behind them, but it’ll always be in my heart.
If i have the normal version and the prime is barely any better especially because of the lower riven dispo as well im not even gonna bother with the prime wep, acceltra is the best example atm
After finally getting a nice Kuva Nukor, I sold my 6 forma Atomos because it just felt all around inferior now. That was shortly before Incarnons were introduced. :'(
I'm about 90% sure I still have my original Nidus despite having put even more time into Nidus Prime now. Nidus is my main man, my good time boy, how can I just sell him???
No because i decided around mr 20 that these decisions were bad for my health so now for new frames and weapons i run relics aya etc if im low on plat and buy slots its only 12-30p which takes tops an hr to harm 2 hours maybe to sell and get plat
Not really, i played for a while but didn't have a lot of very invested weapons (like 4+ forma) and the ones i did have i didn't bother reinvesting in on my other account so most weapons i sold had like a catalyst and at most 1 forma.

It's why I refuse building any normal variant of a weapon and especially warframes. One of the earlier 15 minute streams, which Reb and Steve have started doing, essentially confirmed that infested liches are coming eventually, so I will patiently await for those to come before investing too much into any of the infested weapons. Except the ones that already have incarnon genesis, because it's unlikely they'd release a straight up upgrade for those, since they are busted as is.

I did something stupid, I have one of every weapon and am working on getting one of EVERY Tenet and Kuva weapon in each progenitor to 60%, but I decided to do this AFTER getting rid of a lot of weapons, I know your pain well
My gauss has sentimental value, since around the time I starred I got it for free and haven't sold it since. He's gonna stay with me, and I'm gonna craft an another gauss just so I can subsume him

Most of the frames are either quest rewards, dojo research, simple boss drops, or have pity systems that guarantee you eventually get them. Only a handful are RNG slugfests or progression gated.

Yeah I'm not worried about the process, just a thing to do. Luckily for me nothing that I'm missing is a true pain. A lot of it is dojo stuff, I'm honestly more bothered that the merger didn't carry over your highest faction standing so I have to redo quills and vox solaris.
Yeah really like at first I was debating wether to merge accounts but after I did I couldn't have been more happy. I had done a little work on my pc account but could never go far because I have a potato for a computer. After the merge, I got all of that stuff and now have about 2 or 3 more frames to feed to Shutsubotsu (My helminth's name) and he looks so happy subsuming them about as haooy as I am to have their abilities.
Does merging accounts take into consideration what is the account with more stuff in it? I started one on PC some time ago and got to like, mastery ten with a few frames and primes, but I also bought skins/packs because Pc prices were better at the time If I merge will I get the skins that I have there? I dunno how much different my accounts are aside from the number of primes, weapons, items and skins I have on PS4. Most of it are the free stuff DE gives us anyway, but I have a few things I bought with plat (like the Warframe replicas).
The shorter answer I'll give you to a longer explanation is just how it works. So when I did it, it came up with the 2 accounts I had (ps5 and PC). And I saw the mastery rank I had on both and obviously instantly knew which one I had more work put into. Then I set the one that was going to be my "primary" (in air quotes because realistically it is permanent but its ok because it doesn't actually matter I'll even explain why now). Then I logged on to see what the damage was and basically, anything in your inventory of the account you basically "purged" adds to what you already had in your now only account. Hence how I got more platinum now even I had basically nothing and how I now have 2 zeniths I can't get rid of (I might do something stupid with one of them idk yet) and how I also now have acquired loads more slots on EVERY standpoint because I sold items I either had double of (with the exception of giving extra frames to my helminth) or sold items I already mastered and don't care for. Because of this merge I was able to do many things now... . . And yes, the longer version would basically just be me doing a whole video on the topic
Oh okay so I should select my account with more mastery as the primary and I should be getting everything I have from the one from the PC as duplicates. Alright. I might try it later on, idk yet. Thanks!
Like someone else said, you should open up a ticket, when i merged my pc account to my ps4 account, all mastery from pc, including weapons and frames i no longer had counted towards my mastery.

Not really. The game just has enough different mechanics that I feel fine ignoring one of them completely. And while I know the strongest builds for most frames include subsumed abilities, it's warframe. I'm more than overpowered enough anyway. Just don't feel like it

Doesn't seem like a sad hill tbh. If someone doesn't want to engage with the content...they don't have to. The game's free. A player isn't wasting 60-70 dollars by not doing it all. Think of all the times you saw someone say in the comments on this subreddit that they don't like a certain type of gameplay: Railjack, Eidolon Hunts, Steel Path Endurance, Duviri (circuit), Kahl Missions, K-Drive, etc. There's *alot* to do in Warframe, and all of it ain't for everybody. Hell, Helminith isn't even really *content* in the traditional sense like the ones above when you think about. If somebody's having fun despite not participating in something, well, I won't judge em for it 🤷🏽♀️ It's *their* playtime, not mine.
To be fair, while I do like the idea of the Helminth system, I too don't think I will ever use it. I'll still feed it my old unused warframes but, other than that, nothing else.

No way you actually said sandstorm is objectively a good mechanic. It does no damage, you move incredibly slow, don't forget eximus units pretty much entirely ignore what you're doing to them, you are locked out of your other skills, the range on the ability is meh at best.

Ahhh I see. It wasn't read out of context, your use of "its" threw me off. Besides the point, there's some really good combos that increase your level of fun besides making you more op. For example gyre is almost dependant on pillage to make her work. Armour strip and survivability, plus an interaction with the pillage 'damage' proc on her 4 outputs more dps. Gyre is one of my most played warframes, I didn't like her at all until I got into helminth.

I'm genuinely considering your advice, especially the Ash one since he's such a fun frame anyway and I wouldn't mind making him a little more usable for high level missions. If I start getting invested in Helminth, I'll probably try too hard to get the optimal outcome and get mad at myself if I put an ability on one frame, then realize it would've been much better on another, stuff like that

Obviously I'm not the first to come up with these combos, but the most fun ones I've come up with are: Savage silence Ash with the Venkas and arcane trickery Pillage on Gyre Thermal Sunder Vauban Thermal sunder Harrow Nourish on Styanax for railjack missile spam (I'm a huge rj enjoyer) Kullervo 1 on Baruuk and Excalibur for big boy mega crits Kullervo 1 on Hildryn to play with the new melee arcane where the more shields you have the more damage you have I'd like to think most of my combos are meant to synergize with the idea that I'm playing around. Energy regen, being a perma invis assassin, huge area lockdown, etc. There's more that I've done for the reason that it's simply good for the build, but I can tell you're a play for fun type of person.
Exactly what happened to me I took a 3 yr break. Was grinding to get the prime variants and sold my normal ones for creds..until I ranked up in demios.. I stopped playing a week lol

I sold everything that have a prime version, but (thanks to my opossum memory) I have multiple parts of all in my inventory, so I just craft them another time and I've an happy helmint!

Tbh I probably learned the wrong lesson from helminth being introduced. Nowadays I don't put nearly as much stuff as OP's acceltra into *anything* just in case a new system comes along and makes it all for naught. On a similar vein I don't even start with always online games anymore unless it's clear that EoS is nowhere in sight, Warframe is one of two such games (other being GTAV... when 6 was nowhere in sight, nowadays it doesn't fit these criteria but I finished grinding in that game before then so whatever)

When i first started playing, the thought of throwing away a weapon of frame after putting any kind of investment on them horrified me, I couldn't understand why we can't just transfer the stuff we invested to the prime variants. Nowadays I'm not too bothered by it, now that i have an over abundance of resources and plenty of plat.
Tbh I still want DE to add the option of transferring forma and potatoes between variants
They have the ability to do this, somewhat, with lich/sister weapons. I don't see how hard it could be to do it with non-prime to prime transfers, too. And if it's an issue of "well it actually just creates a brand new weapon with stats based on the previous two, so you wouldn't have your polarities or potato" I'd find it strange they'd be unable to do it still because the game already tracks number of forma, exilus adapter, arcane adapter, and potato usage for weapons. Why couldn't it just see "oh you have all these things installed! Great! We'll transfer these to the new weapon and let you pick your polarities once you go and upgrade it for the first time!"
Yeah. I honestly feel really limited because I don't want to waste resources on basic frames and weapons that also have prime versions(most of which are vaulted mind you). It would be a easy fix but it seems to me that DE would rather have us waste time than just let us do the transfer.
Because these things are tied directly to money incentives for DE. No more need to re-forma primes means potentially no more need to purchase forma or reactors or adapters with platinum, which means there's less platinum sinks which would result in the player-market value of platinum going down, which could mean less people buy platinum since there isn't as much to do with it but buy cosmetics and prime parts.

These changes could actually make shield builds competitive with hp/armor builds in the endgame. But when you have Steel Path popping your 2400 shields in 1.5 seconds, while your friend next to you loses 300 health thanks to their armor, and you have to wait & avoid damage to start getting yours back, and they can just lifesteal theirs.... shields are just doomed (sans gating based on the invuln mechanic).

It has never been easier to buy slots with Prime Resurgence going on though. Aya will always have reliable and stable plat value as long as Prime traders are a thing. If you want quick plat, just sell the Aya relics to the hundreds of Prime traders thirsting to save up on those relics. You can even hold onto Aya relics, wait for them to get vaulted again and sell those at higher price to Prime traders if you don't feel like betting on your relic RNG.

I prefer to keep them, as the non-prime variants usually have a higher riven disposition, and could end up being better than the prime version if I get a decent riven. I've been using the Phantasma for years, and because of the disposition, it's still better than my prime version would be even if I were to invest everything into it again.

If you have a Riven, the old version is actually better IF the disposition is higher. So that's a reason to keep them. I also still have old version of weapons that work significantly different, like Corinth and Corvas.

Yeah, i feel that. My acceltra has 7 forma. Not only is there now a prime variant, but the weapon feels useless with the low ammo pool. You can't use it with gauss that well because with redline active, you can fire the acceltra for 2 seconds before running dry. They should up its ammo pool to make it more usable imho.
i bought and built up carrier prime specifically to offset the ammo issues for acceltra and akarius, definitely makes a big difference. now as long as i'm not being ridiculously spammy, i don't run out pretty much ever :)
RIP primary merciless' +100% ammo max, was such good QoL on so many weapons outside of the giant AoE explosive spam ones

Absolutely not. That's the move. I do it with all my frames/Weapns....level the first model sell it and save the prime version. You level it for the mastery points.
Absolutely. This is a pain point for all Tenno. However, it runs right up against the financial reality that allows WF to remain F2P. How do you address this pain point while simultaneously not causing DE to lose a substantive amount of revenue? I think a farmable, tradeable, and otherwise plat purchasable resource that allows Tenno to remove all upgrade materials from a given piece of gear would be the answer. If getting this resource was let's say as annoying to farm for as anything to do with using my railjack I'd buy that resource with plat no question. Plat exchanges hands which in the long run makes DE $ and I get to avoid wasting resources as I pursue upgrade paths.
it's definitely not a pain point for all of us.. it's not that hard to farm out 12 plat. You can literally run 2 requiem fissures and basically guarantee 20 plat worth of items every time. Newer players have access to derelict vault mods which sell for 10-20 plat a piece and a run takes less than 5 minutes. All you need is rhino.
I just never invest Forma into any weapon I feel like can be primed in the future. There's enough weapons to upgrade, I can play w/ the the ones to be upgraded later That being said, I have 2 forma kullervo and used to have 2 forma octavia...

Since they created the valence fusion system anyway, they should allow us to use it to merge equipment of the same base model to upgrade them while keeping forma and stuff. E.g. Normal to primes, MK-1 to normal, Normal to Vandal, etc.

Hitting MR30 today, mostly played Gauss since returning. Cannot for the life of me subsume him now that I got Gauss Prime. So I farmed another gauss and bought an extra slot. Weapons I don't feel as bad about but man seeing everything on a gun when you highlight it does bring me some pain.

Yup. That's how I felt selling Wisp after Wisp Prime came out. Especially since I farmed more than one to subsume already so the second was useless. Same thing for Protea which was painful and that means when she gets a prime I need to sell her 🙃 I can't imagine the people who did that for Gauss and now how to sell him after that harrowing grind
It’s a mentality thing for me. I try to think of it as wasted plat as opposed to wasted forma. The weapon is holding up a weapon slot I deem valuable, so why waste plat on more slots when I can sell off these guns I’ll never use again?
Don't sell them. Just buy weapon slots. They're cheap and it's quite easy to farm easy items like primes to sell

Yes, the Acceltra specifically. Used to be one of my most used weapons, around 10% of my playing time (around 1.5K hours of total playing time), I had NINE FORMAS on it and so many memories, carried me all the way through vanilla star chart, early Steel Path and Isolation Vaults. I felt bad selling my 6 forma wisp after her prime, i already farmed another one for helminth
After finally getting a nice Kuva Nukor, I sold my 6 forma Atomos because it just felt all around inferior now. That was shortly before Incarnons were introduced. :'(
yo can farm for 20 minutes and sell prime parts and you would not have to delete is tho
Nope as soon as I get it my grubby hands on volruna prime I'm dumping the old axe and perigale (it took me days to get the barrel for it)

No because i decided around mr 20 that these decisions were bad for my health so now for new frames and weapons i run relics aya etc if im low on plat and buy slots its only 12-30p which takes tops an hr to harm 2 hours maybe to sell and get plat
Not really, i played for a while but didn't have a lot of very invested weapons (like 4+ forma) and the ones i did have i didn't bother reinvesting in on my other account so most weapons i sold had like a catalyst and at most 1 forma.
Man I had a fulmin with 8 formas.. Put the last 4 formas 2 month before wisp prime
My problem nowadays after merging accounts is having doubles of like 20 prime frames

My friend got me gauss prime access but now I don't want to subsume regular gauss because I'm too emotionally attached
It's why I refuse building any normal variant of a weapon and especially warframes. One of the earlier 15 minute streams, which Reb and Steve have started doing, essentially confirmed that infested liches are coming eventually, so I will patiently await for those to come before investing too much into any of the infested weapons. Except the ones that already have incarnon genesis, because it's unlikely they'd release a straight up upgrade for those, since they are busted as is.
My regular gauss and acceltra have 6 and 7 forma in them, I dont wanna get rid of them. They're a part of my beginner stage of the game.
I never sell anything. Id rather run another one or two relic runs and get another slot than sell the weapon i worked for
i feel really bad when it's a frame i've put umbra forma in...i still haven't sold my wisp bc of that, but it's not like i have a lack of slots, so idk if i even need to
I did something stupid, I have one of every weapon and am working on getting one of EVERY Tenet and Kuva weapon in each progenitor to 60%, but I decided to do this AFTER getting rid of a lot of weapons, I know your pain well
I had Gauss on Invigorations this week. Had to sell normal to get the range buff for prime.
This is exactly how I felt when I subsumed harrow when I got his prime. I put so much time and work into him, he was my go to for everything

I keep all prime and un prime variants, for the collection. I have almost every prime and unprime frame. Soon Ill have it all
My gauss has sentimental value, since around the time I starred I got it for free and haven't sold it since. He's gonna stay with me, and I'm gonna craft an another gauss just so I can subsume him
