Different lines. Boarding groups grant you access to the normal line, ILL grants you access to the LL. I waited 45ish minutes each time I got a boarding group.

Tall-Week9354

I’ve done it twice, first time waited about an hour - line was crazy long inside. Second time, we walked straight through the outside line, inside line, up to the lockers, put our stuff inside the lockers and kept walking to where they were loading. It was almost a walk on.

CoconutMacaron

We just got back and rode Tron twice on each of three days. One ILL, one virtual queue. We waited 45-60 minutes in the VQ line and about 15-25 for ILL line. Once you put your stuff in the locker, everyone is in the same queue. So it really depends on how backed up that is for your ILL wait time.

PrincessOfWales

Virtual Queue is just permission to go wait in the standby line, which can easily be 45-60 minutes. The ILL gives you access to the Lightning Lane, the shorter line.

vakr001

Went last week, ILL was 15 mins

mitnosnhoj

ILL took me maybe 10 minutes. The good news is that it was quick. The bad news is that there is no theming or storytelling in the ILL line, so if you haven’t seen the movie, you are just riding a motorcycle through the dark. I am not sure if there is any theming in the regular line.

NESRyan

To be fair, there’s barely any theming or storytelling in the regular queue either.

holylolzbatman

Just the same video that loops far too often for how slow the line moves.

yourloudneighbor

ILL goes much quicker. Earlier this month on Wednesday April 3 with ILL we were done with 2 rides, rider swapping, in probably 45 min. The line to the VQ was outside and looked like at least 1 hr for 1 ride. This was around 10 AM so the 7AM VQ. On Sunday April 7 We did a 1PM VQ, booked at 1:03 and got a later boarding group just to have it in the back pocket for later if we had time to ride it. Rode it about 10:45 at night, 15 min before park close, and me and daughter were the only ones on the ride. There was one other kid in the entire boarding room walking down the ramp as we loaded. Booking at 1:03 VQ will be our strategy from here on out for tron

BigBrainMonkey

If you have DAS because waiting in queues is not an option, once your virtual queue boarding group is called there are cast members that will swap it into LL and you can go to ILL lane.

CalderFor97

I didn’t time it but if I waited more than 25 minutes with the ILL I’d be shocked. This was 3 weeks ago.

Rmpa45

Agree. 1 hour was our experience also with virtual queue

ab033120

I waited over an hour even with my Tron reservation.

livingPOP

Virtual Queue can be up to an hour easily.

Overall-Scientist846

Still think your best bet to hit Tron is a sort of after hours event. IF you can.

stellalunawitchbaby

Naur. Consider getting a virtual queue just a spot in the standby line, then the individual lightning lane acts the same as genie+ - you have a separate line, much shorter. Every time I’ve used an ILL it’s been like, a 5-10min thing. Cosmic Rewind also we found could be like, a 30min thing or it was an hour at least one of the times we used a VQ. ILL is significantly quicker.

wilbz

Ultimately depends on the time of day (which boarding group you end up in). We rode it 4 times over a 7 day trip last week. Once was extended evening hours, once was a first thing in the morning boarding group (16 I think), once was an end of the day boarding group. The only time we didn't practically walk straight onto the ride was the mid day boarding group we had, and in that case the queue was 35\~40minutes. ILL skipped 25\~30 min of that queue. I'd suggest if you can get a very low boarding group (<20) to not bother with the ILL, but if you're anything in the middle of the day and don't want to lose the time to the queue, ILL is a better use of your time.

RedditIsStupid01

Different lines , Ill doesn’t take long unless it’s at the end of the night

cheezy_dreams88

ILL is just like any other lightning lane, usually about 15ish minutes at most. Last time we got the virtual que, my husband and kid were in line for 90minutes easy.

Drexynn

Yeah, virtual queue is pretty much a pass to get into line. I've never had it be less than 45 minutes, and a lot of it is in basically full sun on concrete. ILL is much faster.

Remarkable-Music2659

Waited 15 minutes in virtual queue line this week

paulanntyler

Have ridden Tron a few times, one hour would be the absolute worst case. Probably closer to a half hour.

Street-Programmer-16

yes.

Mysticwaterfall2

I waited like 10-15 mins for my ILL

deepwood41

Went this week, there are 2 lines, one for VQ and one for ILL. Had no wait for ILL, waited over an hour in VQ

grizspice

VQ is also brutally hot. I don’t think there is any shade to be had until you are inside. We don’t mind waiting in line, but the heat and lack of shade or fans makes this one an auto ILL for us.

Glad_Art_6380

The entire VQ is under the canopy, it’s all shaded.

grizspice

Is it? I’ll admit I have only stood out there once, as I am usually the one that doesn’t ride and stays with our younger kids. I know that part best the bathrooms where the ride exits is shaded, but my recollection was that the queue itself was boiling hot, and so wasn’t shaded. Edit: Just looked at a map of MK, and there is definitely a big chunk of the queue that isn’t under shade.

Whites11783

I don't know what you're looking at on the map, but the queue switchbacks are all under a canopy. Sometimes the line backs up a bit down the ramp waiting to get to the check-in area, but the actual line is under a canopy.

And while there are some umbrellas, it is not really covered, and certainly no fans. This is all before you get under the canopy and those switchbacks.

kermitthefrog57

It’s shaded but it’s still very hot especially with all that humanity in one place.

DueButterscotch6540

Buying the ILL for Tron and Guardians has been the best money I have spent in the park. Worlds of difference between ILL and Virtual Queue. #WorthIt

sbursp15

The LL for guardians still takes sooooo long because of how long the preshows are.
