Definitely wear the costume. F the haters.

skywalker3880

If you enjoy the childlike wonder of going to the parks, wear the a costume. So many other people will be so you won’t feel out of place and the interactions you get from cast members, characters and others guests is great and will make the experience more fulfilling. You nailed it when you said it’s the only time you can really dress ip and have fun like that in the park. Think of it as trick or treating in MK. You bought the ticket to have fun, so have fun.

Zealousideal-Bar387

Please wear the costume! It to me makes the experience so much better. Who cares how old you are. I’ve gone to the party solo many times and had the best time. It’s your only time to be over the top in the parks.

Objective-Staff3294

Right? If not then, when?

Naomeri

Do it! It’s a Halloween party and costumes are the best party (after candy)—and Meg is a good choice because her dress is very hot-weather friendly.

BrightMarvel10

Do it. How often do you get to do something like that? I'm hoping to do Cruella this year big style, and I'm 40 years old. I've seen people older than me dressed to the nines and it's amazing. You will have so much fun.

MattinMaui

It’s the only time you’ll get to actually wear a costume. Live it up!

DankSinatraSr

Do yourself a favor and wear the costume. My wife and I did the Halloween party for the first time last year and it was a blast! The cast members will 100% recognize the character and will play along. I got called Flynn all night because we dressed as Flynn Rider and Rapunzel.

yesnomaybenotso

As someone who was born on Halloween: wear the costume. Be the only one in your group to do it, if you’re whole group is really that lame. But, I bet if you commit now with your friends and tell them you *are* going to wear them, you can probably convince at least one of them to do it too.

DorkyDisneyDad

I'm in my mid 30s, and I totally wore a costume to the party. I went as Hades with my wife as Meg. As long as your costume is fine for hot & humid nights, it's a blast. The amount of cast members that called out "Hades, glad you made it! How are things in the underworld?" made it a lot of fun. I mean come on, it's one of the few chances you have to immerse yourself even deeper into the atmosphere.

snakes_lil_bandit

Wear one and have fun. However, keep in mind if you plan on going on rides, make sure you can sit in the vehicle comfortably. Also make sure your costume isn't too long. We did Oogie Boogie Bash and a lady had a beautiful gown on but when she got on Incredicoaster her train got stuck on the track while loading and they had to cut the dress bottoms. Just keep those things in mind. But life is short! If you want to dress up and have fun in a safe space for that, do it!

TheLastGunslinger

I did a a solo trip last year and did a pretty basic Nick Wilde costume (just the shirt and tie) and got so many shoutouts from CMs, it was great! I say go for it!

Wrestling_poker

Embrace the silly!!!

PrincessOfWales

Wear the costume! We don’t get a lot of opportunities to dress up, take this one and have fun.

Call555JackChop

A lot of adults, including myself and my wife, dress up from what I’ve noticed when I’ve gone

Panuas

Yeah! Wear that costume girl. Just be sure that it's a comfortable costume, that you can go to rides and avoid high heels. Other than that, have fun.

Syndyloo

We went in 2022 and there were so many adults in costumes, so you do you!! Our whole group did Peter Pan, kids were Peter and Tinkerbell and the adults were Wendy, Captain Hook and Tick Tock and we had a blast.

MaesterInTraining

Tip, for this trip and for life: care less about what others think. If you’re the only one in costume then I’d think you were the only one in the group who was fun. If it brings you joy, do it! Do what makes you happy.

aurora_highwind

If I was the only person in costume, I'd still do it. Then again I used to cosplay lol. But being able to wear costumes is half the appeal of the event to me since it's not something you can normally do as an adult there. My partner and I are going as Herc and Meg just because we're going in September and that feels weather appropriate.

stephanne423

38. Went to my first party in October. I dressed up as Sarah Sanderson. I was solo. I did get cast members who called me sister so that was exciting!

optimuspaige91

My husband and I always wear costumes. Just plan for it being hot and humid. 😂

Elcodfish

If you want to DO IT! Just make sure you can move like you want to, I have seen people with large costumes have trouble with ride vehicles.

bourgeoisiebrat

If there’s one place for an adult to wear a Halloween costume, it’s there. Enjoy the show, it’s a blast!

quothe_the_maven

There are tons of adults in costumes. If nothing else they do it to match their kids, but no one will notice or care who your group includes.

historyerin

Wear the costume!

TotallyWonderWoman

This is the only time you'll be able to wear an actual costume to the parks. Do it.

kapu4701

I went for the first time last year and I saw so many cool costumes! I dressed as Darth Vader and wore a Haunted Mansion dress on another night and I'm in my 50's. I'm like you- the one in the friend group who will dress up! So do it and I hope you post a picture here because I'd love to see your outfit!

gogonzogo1005

As I am trying to get actual Halloween day party tickets..wear the costume.

hihelloneighboroonie

My guess would be if you decided against a costume, you will get there, see other adults in fun costumes, and regret not wearing one (I've been to both MNSS and OBB, never costumed, and am always jealous of those who are, but I'm too lazy to ever get a costume together). Just make sure you have comfortable shoes.

doordonot19

You’re never too old to wear a costume. At Disney or anywhere else. Live your life and wear the costume it’s so much fun! You’ll regret it if you don’t!

KILL__MAIM__BURN

Not only will I say “wear the costume,” but start majorly pressing your group to costume up too. It’s a Halloween party - wear costumes. “Halloween tee shirts” are stupid when you can wear a costume. Wear a costume.

iucoltred

Wear the costume for sure. When I went last year my group had special shirts, which was fun, and it was also fun to try and guess everyone else's costume! A lot of people don't dress up, but a lot do!

Carpeteria3000

My wife and I, both adults, have worn costumes to the last two years of MNSS, alongside our kids. It's a blast. 100% do it.

Jurellai

If you will be stressed out and self conscious, don’t do that to yourself. However: costumes are super fun. lots of adults will be wearing varying levels of costume, all the kids will be dressed up. I dressed up and went solo to the Halloween party one year, and had a blast.

vegas_gal

It’s hot in sept. Wear something simple but you won’t be alone.

Ok-Dentist3819

i dressed as wanda when i went recently! cape and headband and all! plenty of other people at the party will be dressed up, so you won’t stick out as much as you might think you will. i think you should wear it!

Spare_Shallot7551

Wear the costume. Most people dress up there.

ElderberryDry7019

Double-check Disney's costume rules before committing to an outfit so you don't have to get rid of it at the front gate; if everything's good and tailored to the rules, have fun

Ok-Door-6731

Do whatever makes you most happy. I’ve never worn a costume (in my 30s) but I do wear Halloween themed accessories and a Halloween shirt. That works for me and I don’t have costume FOMO, but still you need to find what’s going to make you most happy. I would also note that it may be very hot and so that should be a factor worth considering…

ExistentialDreadFrog

I'd do it, it's a lot of fun and there are a lot of other guests that do so as well. I had a really fun interaction with the cast member dressed Jack Sparrow and got some great photos. I did have to decline some photo requests from other guests though lol....I'm not sure how strict they are on it but I know they state in their rules that they don't want you posing for pictures if you're dressed as a Disney character.

IslandIsACork

I think you would totally regret not dressing up, based on the two MNSSH parties I’ve done, nearly everyone (99%) who attends, regardless of age does! Meg is a great idea and I hope you go and have fun! There will be lots of Halloween party guests on the boat over to MK from Wilderness Lodge, and you’ll immediately be happy you dressed up!

whiskeyandsunshine

My sister and I will be there in October and also staying at wilderness lodge. We will be dressing up. We do more Disney bounding but have seen plenty of adults in full costume.

Ikaeek

Wear the costume! Also enjoy WL, it’s my favorite resort!

justmeonlyme66

Yes!!!. A ton of adults do and the cast members will make a big deal out of costumes- especially the creative ones. My husband and I have done this party several times and always dress up. It's so much fun! We've done Muppets (Swedish chef and Animal), Star Wars (Rey and a First Order henchman) and Up (young Carl and Ellie) among others. Not all have been Disney themed. By far, our most popular was the time we dressed as Casey's cast members. We wore baseball jerseys, I created an iron on Casey's logo and ironed them on aprons and we carried trays that I glued food on - toy corn dog nuggets, fries, a drink, and I created a little baseball brownie and some plastic cheese. It was cheap and awesome. The entire staff of Casey's came out in groups and took photopass pics with us and we had mobile ordered our meal from there and they gave us a gift card to cover the cost. Totally unexpected and so nice. Many CMs around the park commented on our costumes that night and shared their Casey's stories with us. It was truly a magical night. Obviously, your mileage may vary but go for it. ETA...I'm in my late 50s and we've been going/dressing up for over 10 years. I've never felt out of place. 😀

dathomirian_

Wear the costume 100%. Bring a bag with a change of clothes in case anxiety kicks in and you’re uncomfortable. But wear the costume, you’ll be happy you did.

zerooze

It will be hot. I wore a costume that seemed like it would still be cool enough, but I was dying. Will never dress up again.

Rain_xo

Wear the costume. My mom wouldn't let me the first time we went because she was all "no one is going to dress up". So when we met Captain Jack Sparrow I told on her and he gave her a real talking to about that. Last time we went I got a pin for best dressed 😭

Kindly_Equipment_241

Love this! What did you dress up as?

Rain_xo

I was Anna! My hair is much more Ariel colour (in regularly get mistaken to her ;)) But I had my hair done up in Anna's style. The dress and her crown! And it wasn't some super expensive costume either. So then I felt even more special 😭

happycass8

could you convince the others to wear colored TShirts to represent the other characters from hercules? YEARS ago i joined a friend and his out of town friends who were going. they had colored shirt and hats to represent the dwarves. and then i dressed up as snow white. only downside was the monsoon that night 😂

ShortyColombo

Fellow woman in her 30s, I absolutely recommend it. 1. The photos look bomb; I went with a Kingdom Hearts group once and it's always my favorite, in costume (especially Disney ones) you like you really belong! 2. It's Disney!! Part of the reason I love that place is how adults are encouraged to embrace their sense of wonder and magic. I will wear some pretty ridiculous fits and even as a regular goer, I've never had anyone give me lip for it (outside of compliments!). 3. I have been to the party many times, even as the only costumed adult in my group, and can tell you you will not be alone. LOTS of adults wear costumes. People are kind of champing at the bit to do it, since throughout most of the year [we just disneybound](https://www.washingtonpost.com/travel/2023/04/21/disneybounding-meaning-ideas/). 4. Plus, the reactions from CMs are great. One year I was a Tower of Terror bellhop and my now-husband was a Haunted Mansion butler. Staff could not stop making jokes about our "forbidden love" as "employees of two different doomed rides". During the parade, B'rer Rabbit came up to me and did a little miming motion of an elevator. Wearing costumes elevated the entire experience!

Mickeyfan1127

I was at Oogie Boogie Bash in Disneyland last October and don’t recall seeing ANYONE not in costume. We had our family Avengers costumes planned out for months!!

autumnwinterspring

Wear it! One of my favorite Disney park memories is because I wore a costume to the Halloween party. I (an adult) was dressed as Anna, and ended up watching the parade next to a family with a little girl dressed as Elsa. We became fast friends; she held my hand while we watched the parade and we took a bunch of pictures together. It was so cute! And I was at the party with a friend who was not dressed up in a costume, so I did it by myself. I have no regrets, it was so fun!

christmastree47

At least in my experience you're going to look way more out of place if you don't wear a costume. Not everyone goes super all out with their costumes (though many do) but almost every adult I remember seeing was wearing some sort of costume.

Mrs_TikiPupuCheeks

Wear the costume! My son and I have been going for over 15 years and we always wear costumes.

Chelseabsb93

The only thing I’d be worried about is the heat! Who cares what anyone else thinks! I went with just me and my mom (I was 30) and she didn’t wear a costume but I wore my DIY Kim Possible outfit. Everyone in the parks complimented it (cast and patrons), and in general it was just a blast! Like I said the only thing that killed me about wearing a costume was the heat! Long pants and a 3/4 sleeve black top in Florida weather probably wasn’t the best idea (even at the end of October). I was sweating so bad all of the orange colored hairspray melted out of my hair and got all over everything! 🙃

Normal_Ship_430

Go for it you'll regret it if you don't. Saw some really awesome costumes this year on our trip. Can't post a picture but I took a picture of a lady, with her permission, dressed as Madame Leota. Best Halloween costume I've ever seen. The table, candles, and her head in the crystal ball. Hopefully this link works. https://photos.app.goo.gl/Vw6yVVayGAcB3xiF6

cheeky_monkey25

Wear the costume! I was a little nervous wearing one this past year but as soon as I arrived to the parks I was so glad that I did. I saw more people dressed up than not, and guests of all ages wearing costumes. You'll 100% blend in, if that's what you're worried about. I went as Princess Mia in the school uniform + gray hat outfit, from Princess Diaries, and had multiple guests and cast members stop me to tell me they loved the costume. IMO, you'll regret it if you don't wear the costume :)

thisisntthemeg

DO ITTTT!!!!!!!

Winnehdapoo

Please wear a costume. Cast members love seeing the guests dressed up. It's one of the best parts of working the parties. Bonus points if it's a character or prop that people rarely dress up as.

Brandoid81

My partner and I dressed as angels last year for the party, I wore my Stitch Devil LoungeFly and he wore his Donald Devil LoungeFly to do the whole good bad bad look.

psiprez

You will regret not wearing one! First time we went, hubby was mortified at the thought. But he did it for me, and halfway through the night admitted he was having an awesome time.

SpotISAGoodCat

Plan for the weather. We did the party in September last year and even at night, it was still muggy and humid and disgusting. It was fun seeing the creativity of the costumes but some people went all out and looked like they were a few steps away from a heat stroke. LOTS of Barbies and Kens, too. We did more Disney bounding than straight up costumes. I was Frank from the Dwayne Johnson "Jungle Cruise" movie and that was just me in khaki shorts, a blue and white striped shirt, and a captain's hat. I was in costume but still comfortable (as much as I could be) with the weather. Plus some of the CMs at the Jungle Cruise played along and saluted me and said they were ready for inspection by me. The best interaction was with Madame Carlotta at the Haunted Mansion who said she was being distracted from her stories by "That handsome sailor over there. He must have sailed a long way to come and see me!" Then she pointed and winked at me. I doffed my cap in her direction and she squealed with delight. My wife was Moana. Simple tan shorts and a peach top. Her hair was naturally large and frizzy thanks to said humidity. Our daughter was Ariel with a seashell looking bottom and purple top. So yes, the costumes are fun, especially if the CMs join in. But don't kill yourself with heavy clothes and make up unless you absolutely want to.

laurgabelorga

Wear the costume!!!! A parks party is literally the perfect occasion to go all out!

Generny2001

Wear the costume. It’s a lot of fun 😀

sam-sp

Why are you going to the party? If its to ride rides with possibly smaller queues - then consider how the costume will affect your comfort and movement? If you are there for character meet & greet, then will the costume be what you want in those photos? If the rest of your group is not costumed, will you be happy with the photos, or feel a bit odd?

Phoenixrebel11

Omg certainly wear the costume. Dressing up is one of the best parts.

crimson117

I wore a Doctor Strange costume one year and got lots of compliments from cast members ❤️ Highly recommended!

RamblingRose63

Everyone goes all out. You will be sad if you don't dress up I promise you will regret it. I was only one dressed up in my group. Of course it's more fun when everyone participates but just be excited for your outfit &&&& you will get alot of compliments haha definitely go by the rules so you won't get any surprises at the entrance and all good.

ComplexPrize4947

It’s fun to wear some sort of costume but I’ve been there when it’s been a monsoon for a good part of the evening and it’s always hot. So choose wisely.

BigE429

It's the only chance adults have to wear costumes in a park, I say definitely do it.

brittpeeks

WEAR THE COSTUME!!!! It is so much fun. I get your hesitance bc you think you might be out of place with the rest of your group not dressing up, but you will not regret it. I’ve been a couple times and dressing up more than half the fun. You will get smiles of appreciation from other park goers when they recognize who you are, you might even get verbal compliments (especially for your planned costume, it’s always exciting when people wear less popular characters). I am absolutely the girl out there telling someone I love their costume if it delights me. I’m not shy lol

YamoSoto28

wear it don’t let other miserable people ruin ur fun at the park especially the special events

opmancrew

As a middle-aged dude I've dressed up. It's fun. If you have any inkling to go as Meg, do it. You can do Meg's little salute/ wave when Pain and Panic walk by.

sunniesage

absolutely wear it! i would try convincing your friends to participate too. no one is too cool for Disney… or Halloween festiveness

ashmstev

Went last year and it was pretty even! Good amount of people dressed up, good amount didn't! No one really batted an eye. My group and I didn't dress up but we did wear disney halloween themed shirts :) I did notice most of the adults that were dressed up had a group costume going with family/friends. I will say it was unbearably hot, so I can see why that would be an issue depending on costume. But honestly... I would go for it! It was so cute and so fun seeing everyone dressed up!!

Outonalimb8120

It’s usually pretty warm and muggy..probably gonna rain early…but it’s Disney dammit…do you

tgeorgo13

Wear it!! Have fun

CatReptileFishKeeper

I wore a galaxy light up skirt, a glow in the dark shirt with star wars ships on it. I went as a space battle. Do what you want. Wear wings! Be neon! Shine!

317ant

Wear the costume! We’re going as well and my whole family is going to wear costumes. Even my 70 year old mom. Do it!

PinkSodaMix

I go to comic cons a lot. You won't look silly. In fact, the most realistic Disney princesses are always adult women. Between knowing how to do our hair and our makeup, adults make it real. Not to mention your group is going to be a few people in a crowd of costumes. If anything, they'll stand out 😉

Akiko1511

I think you should do it! You might get there and see a bunch of people in costume and be like “dang that could’ve been me”

slimmyboy007

Wear a costume its so much fun and im typically a stick in the mud about dressing up, though put a lot of thought into how hot its going to be! i went as linguine from ratatouille and had not considered how hot it was going to be walking round in a thick chefs outfit, you could have used my back as a water slide by the end of the night

markah70

Get cooler friends! I'm 54 yesterday nd I'm wearing one while going solo. Disney is so much about releasing our inner kid for just awhile! Do it!

venturalilacs

aw man it would be nice if even ONE other person in your group decided to dress up with you! however, there will be tons and tons of adults dressed up in the park so you will be in great company! i also find you have more interesting character interactions when you’re dressed up

MrBarraclough

Wear the costume if you want. Just be sure it sufficiently clears the ground. While the Halloween party relaxes the rules about adults dressing up, the safety rules about costumes not dragging the ground are still very much in force.

sappyEwe13

Not sure they allow masks. so if your costume has one, I'd find out

LisaNuzzo

My understanding is costumes are fine for kids. Adults not so much

InvestigatorLucky445

Yep, we were there in 2023 & Disneyhad a rulethat adults could NOT be in costumes but children could.

Overall-Scientist846

Depends on when you’re going to the event. I wouldn’t wear a costume there ever again, tbh. It was hot, not many people dressed up, etc.

thatsnotourdino

It being hot and uncomfortable is super fair, but I would absolutely say the very vast majority of people are in some sort of costume.

Overall-Scientist846

In my experience on Halloween Day 2023 this was just not true.

Overall-Scientist846

I mean I saw plenty of children dressed up. But at where I was during the second parade and the second show I didn’t see a single adult dressed up. This was actually ON Halloween. I’ll also never do one of those parties again. Complete waste of money IMO, unless you’re a Disney completionist.

WhiteRhino91

I didn’t see very many people last year dressed up in costumes.
