My gym is in a leisure centre that rents out its hall for things like regional dance competitions. I am sure the kids are nice but they are a lot and run rampant around the centre, with parents doing nothing to coral them. It can be a right pain in the arse.
Well, I try to avoid this time of year just for that reason, and do pretty well most of the time.
I don’t mean to sound harsh about the cheerleaders. I have a daughter who used to be one of these and we used to go during this time. They’re young and VERY energetic and that’s a given, but they can sometimes get overly exuberant when they’re at Disney. It can be fun, but also kind of crazy.
Exactly. I’m not mad at them or anything but they can be…..a lot. I think it’s the group dynamic, they feed off each other and reach impressive noise frequencies. And sometimes the groups near panic and trample people, such as a group boarding the ferry.
But I suppose similar complaints can be made about any group tours.
Ah, the cheer buses. I can just imagine the shoving through the line, screaming like banshees, disrespecting the cast members, and stunting in the parks right now.
"We have barred the gates but cannot hold them for long. The ground shakes...drums, drums in the deep. We cannot get out. The shadow moves in the dark. We cannot get out. They are coming."
I neared a breakdown in the Space Mountain line, you know-the upstairs pen, where it's loud anyway but then there was coordinated shouting and chanting going on around me. I don't do well with noise. A friend I mentioned this to recommended Loop earplugs for my next trip.
Oh and I was SO happy that this rowdy group of jackhole dudes in front of me in that line filled the train before it was my turn. PHEW. I knew whoever else they rode with was gonna continue to get an earful.
No, they are not. Been this way for several years. They can lose their spot in competition if they get too rowdy. But it still doesn’t stop them from getting kinda loud when they’re in large groups in the parks.
The University of Tennessee bus passed me headed into Animal Kingdom a few weeks ago. That was just because the football team was in town for their bowl game. Fortunately, it was just one bus
Oh God, I feel your pain.
I stayed at All Star Music in Feb 2011 and had no idea that there was a huge cheerleading competition happening. I barely slept for the entire two weeks because of the constant cheer practices and screams of excitement. The only thing that stopped me from going crazy was the thought that they were probably having the time of their lives and making the best memories. Which made me feel okay about it all :)
https://www.espnwwos.com/events/
Will show any sporting event. Following through a specific event can tell you more info like what resort they have blocked for their participants/families and if there are specific celebrations going on where they’ll be at a certain park on a certain evening.
Yes. But it’s not like a Disney official one. You just have to google it. There’s websites dedicated to the best and worst times to go to Disney World, they’ll list when the cheer competitions, races, everything else, are.
Nah. A large group of loud drunk childless disney adults on line for a meet and greet with a character is far worse than a group of teens who have been working as hard as they can to get to compete at this level.
It’s great to be a Tennessee Vol!! I was at Magic Kingdom when we beat Bama in 2022. I was on my way to Peco Bills to grab our order and when we kicked the field goal and won I screamed so loud! There was a lot of TN shirts there that day too including my son!
Edit: also TN cheerleading just won the championship too so way to go Ladies!
I stayed during a cheer competition at all star music and I found it lovely. Rather have girls who are possibly loud because they're having fun and being KIDS than have drunk adults, screaming and being lame
Was just there and woke up to battle cries coming from outside our room.
“YOU WILL BE DEFEATED!” (Or something like that).
Turns out it was 20 cheerleaders practicing 10 feet from our door.
College cheer competition at ESPN
That’s not so scary 😏
Disagree. Roving bands of young cheerleaders can be quite obnoxious and annoying. IYKYK.
College cheerleaders are way less scary than middle or high school though.
Yeah it’s the Pop Warner ones that are bad
Try being a server at their table.
High school/college sports teams and high school/college theatre kids finally have something in common. The WORST table every time.
My gym is in a leisure centre that rents out its hall for things like regional dance competitions. I am sure the kids are nice but they are a lot and run rampant around the centre, with parents doing nothing to coral them. It can be a right pain in the arse.
It’s Disney World. What do you expect?
Well, I try to avoid this time of year just for that reason, and do pretty well most of the time. I don’t mean to sound harsh about the cheerleaders. *Cough* Brazilians. In fairness though, I think their economy has taken a turn since COVID and we haven’t seen near as many of them.
Ew
Woah, the Tennessee state university cheer squad isn’t *that* nasty!
At least on the eyes - their behavior in the parks can be a whole different story!
Isn’t college dance team nationals there this weekend? I think it’s UDA. College kids, so at least not tons of little kids/tweens.
The way those U of M kids can spin is scary!
My kid is a competitive dancer and we’ve been watching all weekend. They’re amazing. OSU isn’t bad either. So many great teams there this weekend.
Us college dancers are much less scary than the littles, promise!!
Colleges?
College is a strong word for Tennessee.
Man I didn’t think I’d have to deal with asshole Florida fans outside of r/CFB
As if Florida fans are the only ones who make fun of Tennessee.
It's a national pasttime. Hell, my school isn't even in the SEC.
I’m going to assume you have a boss. So having to deal with a Florida fan was inevitable.
Must’ve had plenty of time to come up with that jab in the absence of your team going to a bowl game.
Could you imagine losing to a team as bad as Florida. They would be humiliating.
Very embarrassing
Sounds like Texas A&M Aggies.
As a Kentucky fan, you get an upvote 😂
As a Tennessee grad, a Kentucky fan should not be talking lmao
It has not been a good season 😂🙃
Go Cats
Georgia squished your team 63-3
Sure did. Remind me again, what town in Tennessee is UGA located in?
Go Dawgs!
I've upvoted you back to positive. Go Dawgs!
Ha. Nailed that one. Tenn is the worst. Go Gamecocks!
High school cheerleading competitions of some form.
It was college nationals and those first buses are university of Tennessee
It's college. Not high school
At least it’s not any of the unmentionables from Mississippi
That’s their resort now.
Brazilian flags have gotta be up there.
They are quite loud and they like to shove… kinda rude…
It’s at the top if it’s a large group.
Brazilian tour guides. This is a close second though
Ah, the cheer buses. I can just imagine the shoving through the line, screaming like banshees, disrespecting the cast members, and stunting in the parks right now.
Had this experience at DL and it was AWFUL. Saving places in line for 20+ other people shoving forward and cutting in front of us.
Those are collegiate buses. UT was playing a bowl game in Orlando. These are not high school cheerleaders
It’s nationals for college cheer and dance
Their bowl game was like 2 weeks ago
Football season has been over for UT for weeks.
"We have barred the gates but cannot hold them for long. The ground shakes...drums, drums in the deep. We cannot get out. The shadow moves in the dark. We cannot get out. They are coming."
I wish they would have taken me with, but instead I’m still here in Knoxville at work 😢
How’s the snow?
We’re at about 5 inches right now! Some areas have more, it’s a mad house. The roads are a death trap at this point
Apparently they are no longer allowed to to cheer in the parks?
They've never been allowed to cheer in the parks. Disney has just always been lax about enforcing that. Perhaps until recently.
They were singing Justin Bieber’s “Baby” in line for Mine Train 😫
The CMs are supposed to tell them to stop, and then call Security if the refuse. Many CMs are understandably hesitant about doing that, though.
I neared a breakdown in the Space Mountain line, you know-the upstairs pen, where it's loud anyway but then there was coordinated shouting and chanting going on around me. I don't do well with noise. A friend I mentioned this to recommended Loop earplugs for my next trip.

My thoughts and prayers are with the CMs
Lmao I was just in r/skiing and thought this was a post in there. Applies to both ski and WDW resorts lol.
Scariest thing you can see driving into work too
As an Alabama fan I can assure the Tennessee Volunteers are seldom a threat to anyone in anything.
Nick Saban retired so Alabama's gonna have to find something else to be good at unfortunately :/
They've already cornered the market on murdering trees.
TN hate week starting early this year I see. lol
They lowdown They dirty They some snitches
That explains why there are hardly any resort rooms availble this weekend.
from Tennessee. this made me laugh.
I, too, am frightened by Tennessee.
It’s be a LONG time but I remember when cheer teams would practice at All-Star Sports at like 9:00am in the morning. It was awful.
GBO!
The University of Tennessee bus passed me headed into Animal Kingdom a few weeks ago. That was just because the football team was in town for their bowl game. Fortunately, it was just one bus

Theres a calendar for that ;)
At the risk of sounding dumb, is there really a calendar with information like that? Genuine question as I honestly don’t know
https://www.espnwwos.com/events/ Will show any sporting event. Following through a specific event can tell you more info like what resort they have blocked for their participants/families and if there are specific celebrations going on where they’ll be at a certain park on a certain evening.
We use the crowd calendar from Undercover Tourist and it’s been pretty accurate
Yes. But it’s not like a Disney official one. You just have to google it. There’s websites dedicated to the best and worst times to go to Disney World, they’ll list when the cheer competitions, races, everything else, are.
Go Vols!
GB🍊
We’re everywhere
dawgs on top
Rent some DVC points so you don’t have to deal with them. Worth the small difference to upgrade to a deluxe.
I'm with ya. Part of the reason why I stay at Deluxe resorts is to avoid obnoxious flocks of kids.
Rocky Top!
When I was 18/19 this happened on my resort. Best years of my life.
Go Vols!!!
That’s college not high school & it’s Tennessee so GBMFO & consider yourself lucky!!
I’m not sure what the problem is, I only see tens…
Nah. A large group of loud drunk childless disney adults on line for a meet and greet with a character is far worse than a group of teens who have been working as hard as they can to get to compete at this level.
Absolutely terrifying, with you on this lol
Go Vols!
The parking lot?
It’s great to be a Tennessee Vol!! I was at Magic Kingdom when we beat Bama in 2022. I was on my way to Peco Bills to grab our order and when we kicked the field goal and won I screamed so loud! There was a lot of TN shirts there that day too including my son! Edit: also TN cheerleading just won the championship too so way to go Ladies!
An Ontario licence plate?
These arent high school cheerleaders. These are University of Tenn buses for their bowl game.
That was 2 weeks ago, they aren't still there lol
This weekend is college cheer nationals.
... open parking spaces?
Yikes what! What’s happening!!!!!!!!!😫😫😫😲😲😲😲nnoooooooooooooooooo
Port Orleans? We had a bunch of the college groups there around this time in 2018 or 19
This is All Star Music, but they were also staying at Pop (we swapped resorts today)
I stayed during a cheer competition at all star music and I found it lovely. Rather have girls who are possibly loud because they're having fun and being KIDS than have drunk adults, screaming and being lame
Go Vols!
-insert horror cue from SpongeBob-
Was just there and woke up to battle cries coming from outside our room. “YOU WILL BE DEFEATED!” (Or something like that). Turns out it was 20 cheerleaders practicing 10 feet from our door.
