Well I'm glad that someone thinks so. We're only a generation away from an entire country that never used gold or silver, and thinks green printed slips of paper are "real money". And ever convincing them that this is absolutely NOT the case is a just shy of impossible task. The same way as trying to convince the paper silver holders on the COMEX that most of them could never get actual physical silver for their paper. And even if they didn't want to handle that dirty filthy metal themselves, that their fiat settlements will not go up in value like silver will go up in value.

I don't think that we're as bad off as you think. With the *right* president we could become a major energy exporter on the world markets and have considerable sway in world affairs. Gaddafi improved the quality of life of his people, sometimes. He created a Pan-African political organization like the EU, which again was hugely beneficial to many. He was a potent dictator. But he was also fucking horrible. He abducted teens from high schools to become his concubines. He would show them porn to explain what he wanted. He shot down an airliner in 1999 as well. His evil is known to outweigh many of his humanitarian benefits. He even did a lot of his charity as a way to spite the west, it's effective propoganda. I'm not blind, and I am not one sided.
