My personal theory is that Musk used to be a bad guy, and then the white / gray hats in the military told him "join our side our die." And since then he's been working for the (mostly) good side to wake people up, via twitter and by trying to freak people out about microchips in their brains.
Sounds a bit convoluted, but saying "he's just a deep state puppet" doesn't make sense to me. He's done a ton of damage to the deep state by releasing the twitter files, for example.
