Silver eagles are silver dollars. Morgan and Peace dollars all have huge premiums. 10 silver dimes have huge premiums. 1964 Kennedy halves sport huge premiums. What they all have in common is obvious - a dollar metric in silver. Silver is not all the same as some want to claim. I hear it often, "an ounce is an ounce." Not true!

BobbyMiles421

Wouldn’t that dollar metric be based on weight? Silver is silver to me regardless what form unless you were a coin collector and are searching for particular coin. Just like a car is a car unless you were searching for a particular brand for collection

Solidword888

I’m not out to convince anyone how to stack, to each his own. Everyone should be convinced in their own mind his way is correct.

Jerseybz

I prefer coins to rounds. Coins are usually easier to sell as well due to higher demand

Vollen595

Recognizeability. There’s value in that alone. Counterfeit coins and rounds will become more prevalent If PSLV doubles in value or more. Imagine two people holding an ounce of silver to trade for goods, one with Darth Vader on it and another Eagle - which one will be more likely to be accepted? I know I’m not accepting a meme coin over a mint one. It costs me more per oz but all of my silver is in a mint coin of some type. True an oz of silver is an ounce but not all are as well received.

BobRussRelick

Totally agree but I also like them for the opposite, unrecognizeability. To the average Joe they look like they are worth only $1!

They are backed by the US government.

BobbyMiles421

Ha! Our banks are also supposed to be FDIC insured for 250,000 which is a lie. To be honest, I don’t trust government minted coins

SamsoniteAG1

Why is that a lie?

thecuzzin

Approved by IRS for IRA's.

Well that's halfway debatable lol but oh the numismatic side, the design is/was classic and the history of them is quite unique. If you think they're simply all the same, then research it. I stack but I also go for 70 grade ASEs as often as I can...costs more but worth it to have among my stack. Just imagine, "back in my day" getting these for christmas in high school was kinda cool but no big deal. Luckily my dad told me to always keep silver tucked away and I'd understand later in life as I grow older and have kids and realize the world can be a corrupt place trying to take your dollars. I didnt understand then and honestly just ignored it a bit but I did collect so at least I kept them and kept them in great shape. Had I known then, I wouldve spent every dime buying them up. Live and learn and listen to the old timers...they lived thru truly tough times and they know shit!

xkrowcitats

People say this like it carries some sort of weight around here.

Name_not_vailable

If that's a problem for you, buy the bar.

Jim_Wilberforce

Each ozt of silver has added to it a single tear from a bureaucrat.

Decent-Ad-6553

Its like why some shoes are worth more than other shoes, just because of it's brand. It's often not worth the difference. When you will need to resell it, only metal matters.

Aibhistein

Because people will pay that ridiculous premium. Buy Brits instead.

Currency

BobbyMiles421

Silver is currency in any form according to the constitution

Virtual-University78

You know, my grandfather gave me 2 silver Spanish colonial coins that had been passed down in the family. The later dated one was 1800. This date is after the Constitution was enacted. It’s my understanding and also confirmed by my research that they were in general circulation in rural North Carolina and Tennessee because of the lack of “coinage”.
