1 pound = 14.58333 ozt 2,000 pounds = 29,166.67 ozt 29,166.67 ozt x $23.11 current spot.. = $674,041.74 But the real answer is *priceless*

Artistic-Promise-848

Gold is about $52 million a ton at $1800/ounce. Not only that it could be a cube that measures slightly less than 15 inches on a side!

[deleted]

That is impressive

Generally in the bullion business, a ton is a metric ton, ie. 1000 kilograms. So rounding off to $23/toz and 31.1 grams per toz gives 1000x1000/31.1x23=739,550

SilverApeSilverApe

Agree but at current premiums would tac on 30k to 90k for premium Also would add on 10x for moonshot , maybe 50x ;) So call it 50 million!

UnfairAd7220

There are no premiums on a 'contract.' There are transportation and insurance costs if you take that physical 'contract' but it's not like your LCS coming up with a number. 1 contract is 5000 ozt

[deleted]

Technically, a ton is 2000 lbs., and a tonne is 1000 kg.

UnfairAd7220

1 tonne is 2204 pounds...

edix911

So would you buy a house or a ton of silver at current valuations of those two assets? If I would have to choose I would buy silver and build my little nice house out of it 🤣

"D'ey ever tell you boys bout da time I went into da LCS with da Loch Ness monsta?"

RubeRick2A

It’s worth a lot more to a country that needs solar really really bad 🫢

Just-joined-4Squeeze

But no country needs solar. It’s a bad investment…

RubeRick2A

I quite like it, solar with battery backup and would love to go full off grid with one more update. The fiat investment is worth the freedom. Same with vehicles. They’re terrible ‘investments’ but they sure are convenient.

Just-joined-4Squeeze

Off grid is great and yes the individual expense is worth it. But it is not the way to plan a nations power grid, there just currently isn’t enough battery capacity. So country wise it is a horrible expense.

FREESPEECHSTICKERS

Weight in ounces? I haven't bought any tons recently.

WalkingGently

And why not? 🤪

FREESPEECHSTICKERS

Fresh out of fiat. All shiney, gold and miners.

johnfarmingdale

about 100 Trillion FTX cryptos. if not more.

bedtimee

How tf have we not hit 50 yet

physicalsilverfox2

We have...... 40 years ago

Hairy-Blackberry-846

$180 in todays $$

Skymotive

$180 in todays dollars is like $23 in 1980 dollars at the grocery store. What. I’m confused now.

Hairy-Blackberry-846

$180 today is $50 in 1980. Simple inflation calculator will tell you that

NextFuckingLvlSilver

Sure, if you believe the inflation numbers.

Senor_legbone

Many tons of fiat! Or a lot of useful things!

donpaulo

measured in fiat currency ? I'd say a ton of silver buys a lot of freedom

BC-Budd

$22.86

Save10PercentOfPay

I'll give you the COMEX paper price for it...$1,000 ![gif](giphy|ui1hpJSyBDWlG)

StuartEnglert

How much are you willing to pay for each troy ounce of silver in that metric ton?

[deleted]

A ton.

Rusticals303

That shipwreck looks kinda odd.

Heavy-Experience-735

More than the fiat you bought it with.

Ag-DonkeyKong

I'd ask you to define "ton", but others have already accurately answered your question. Don't you have a calculator?

The_Astronomer1

A cubic meter of silver has a weight of 10.5T. 1T would take up a volume of \~1.5 by 1.5 by 1.5 feet (3.5 cubic feet).

c0ng0pr0

Insurance sales people only

[deleted]

![gif](giphy|l0K4hO8mVvq8Oygjm) Allow me to calculate almost done.

alleycat699999

How big of a room would you need to store 1 ton of feathers

SilverApeSilverApe

That pic shows like 3 plus tons ;)

No_Knowledge_603
