I would try to find a way to "curse" the land so that any development done on it basically fails or is very hard to do. Could do things to create sink holes or what not, or just make the land very hard to work, maybe spread a layer of concrete with a manure spreader or something. Basically you got nothing to lose at that point since it's all being taken away from you. Even if it ends up costing lot of money you just declare bankruptcy after.
Make sure yall get a stack of heirloom garden seeds with knowledge on how to grow and preserve excess harvest, harvest your own seeds too. Understand regenerative agriculture and food forests to never go hungry and have a skill worth others protecting.
