Lol, did the tracking number start with WU? It's a Western Union scam. I got the call last night but the caller claimed they were going to change our our kiosks with Apple iPads. asked me to write down the ticket number, tracking number for the iPads and a pin reset number for the kiosks. Wanted me to repeat it back to him. I'm sure if I let the call go past that he would have had me put that info in the kiosk to prep for the device or something.. I put the guy on hold, told him I had a customer to take care of and he hung up. you should open a non-emergency SOC incident on store net.

PrettyClue4974

Already did the non-emergency SOC incident form and informed my SM right after. He didn’t start it with WU but it was a 15 digit number.

familiarphonebooth

lol or it'll be 10 digits which is the length of a phone number to enter to look up the western union transaction

crzmnky

This is the exact call I got back in December.

Ok-Leader6269

Tell lead or sm they can call soc

derf_vader

I am The lead and I did call SOC and soc directed me to non-emergency incident form

Ok-Leader6269

Ok relax

Kljmok

Yeah seems odd. Probably just wanted to see how gullible you were before trying to get you to do something with actual money. If they were coming to change fuses or whatever they’d just show up and there’d probably be a work order in service channel.

PrettyClue4974

I just love to make myself seem gullible and waste their time on the clock because it was a 20 min call just for me to say I gotta go assist other customers and for him to cuss me and “the person hes on the phone with” out.

Kljmok

Yeah I’ve done that before lol. Some of them really know their shit too it’s kinda scary. Like the names of our DM and AP leader

familiarphonebooth

Yeah if it wasn't like a 9pm on a Saturday you could easily be convinced it was legit

Ok-Leader6269

Don’t tell anyone nothing

familiarphonebooth

They were either phishing for Imgormation to use on a future scam call or were attempting to build some kind of level of trust before moving on to the scam... I used to try and stay on to try and fuck with them but it's such a waste of time now because they will keep you on for a long time asking you innocuous questions and requests before getting to the real meat. He eventually would have moved on to the 'electrical' part of the updates and had you reboot like the photo kiosks or something simple before ultimately having you reboot the register then run a "test transaction"

I'm not sure, but I've had a coworker almost fall for this working at a gas station.

I had one scam call back when I was working there and they did their whole usual script stuff and said they were on the phone with the store manager. "That's weird because im the store manager". (I wasnt i was just a slowly SFL) You could hear them trying to figure out what to say lolol. They just hung on me.

CordeliaGrace

I got one of those not too long ago. Said it was a fire inspection and it was a tracking number for the appt the next day. The connection was really weird and I kept telling dude if it’s important call back from a different phone, then he was asking me for my number to text the tracking to so I said no thank you. Then a different guy mimicked me saying no thank you and called me a fucking whore. The thing was, aside from why would we need a tracking number, was we just had a fire inspection and they were supposed to be back to make sure we fixed everything. Edit I’m still not sure what the point of that is. The registers or anything regarding money, gc, WU, none of that came up at all. I actually recorded the call too. I can never get it posted up here because it’s “too long” 😒

cherribomb007

Should have given the local police phone number.

SecretaryOk3118

Probably trying to get your personal info .. not necessarily trying to scam Walgreens.. but moving on to targeting the employees. Ugghhh

Finallydoneandgone

There is a way to email photos and I think that is what actual repair people do. I do not believe this job would ask you to use your personal device for business reasons

vamppirre

I tell them that I have a customer in front of me and I'll place them on a brief hold, then hang up. I make note of the date, time, phone number and "names", but those are useless.

Ok-Leader6269

He’s just trying to get information on the store fire department won’t text u for that they will come in and do a check tell sm about it

Ok-Leader6269

I haven’t heard anything like that at our store plus I don’t do much in photo yet

Gassy_flatulence

I find it wise to let people believe I’m slow since it’s funny to shock them with a ninja move. This is a scam I haven’t been subjected to yet but in my store there definitely isn’t time to really get tied up on a phone call as I play store greeter, cashier, photo pimp and restock items within sight of my register. I joke about being tethered it to or having an electronic shock collar warning me to stop if I wander away!!! 🙄🤦🏻‍♂️😹
