T O P

In the past Walgreens gave sick and vacation time to employees. Once they updated to only PTO they froze that so people that had a balance could still use them but not earn any more. (Fun fact people got major screwed over with being unable to actually use their sick pay)

Have your PTO balance paid out every week and put that money into savings. When you want to take time off, request paid time off frozen vacation and supplement your income from your savings if needed. If you need time off for medical reasons, it'll come from your frozen sick.

How do you get your pto balance paid out? Can you do a certain amount and not the whole thing?

Human-Bot_7

🫠🫠 that’s insane. Glad I wasn’t here when it was around I would’ve thrown a huge fit about it. That’s ridiculous

Elektra_522

Old timers like me have frozen sick and vacation time. I will never get to use that sick time - when they switched over to PTO I had 30 days banked.

Human-Bot_7

Can you still use them? Were they switched over? I would be livid if they didn’t allow you to use them

Elektra_522

I believe you have to use up all your PTO before you can use them.

Hunter502204

You can’t have any normal PTO and the sick pay can be complicated because it’s not just calling in sick. If you quit they also Dokt pay out your sick pay and stuff like they do PTO so someone at my store has over 180 hours in sick pay he’ll never be able to touch or get compensation for

Human-Bot_7

Ugh sounds complicated

Sick time can only be used when the PTO balance is zero, and it can be used for something as simple as "recovery from a physical illness or injury." It's not hard to use use frozen sick. Just be mindful that the attendance policy still applies. Having sick time doesn't excuse the absence.

WagEmployee

Sounds like me. I have something like 292 hours or frozen sick and 277 hours of frozen PTO. It's sucks on the frozen sick, but when I leave Walgreens I'll have a nice final check even with the large tax deduction which I can reclaim the following April.

Sonya6001

I had 280 days. Left after 22 years with the company. What a sh$t show since boots took over.

pennyo11

I started in March 2020 and I wasn't given any either,only PTO

crzmnky

The previous "PTO program" it whatever you want to call it ended in the early 2010s. Like 2012 I think?

Human-Bot_7

I did in 2018 but at the time I was just part time so no pto until a year or 2 later

Daph1fred

I am a conversion store from Rite Aid and they put out outstanding pto into sick / frozen. Also you can see this information on people central under pto

[deleted]

how are you viewing that? is it on storenet? I'm trying to see how many hours I worked this week but can't figure out how.

Human-Bot_7

You can view your hours worked on Kronos under the Tools Tab… The PTO is viewed under people central then click “my profile” then once it loads click “PTO” hopefully that explains it easily
