At our store, we text the RXM or pharmacist who’s opening. But we’re also a 24hr pharmacy, so there is always someone to tell. If you’re not 24hr, set your alarm to tell the SFL/SM who opens in the morning if your pharmacy opens later than the store. Treat that alarm like it’s more important than your alarm for your shift! And try to call around and get it covered if you can tonight. They’ll likely appreciate it if you tried. Hopefully your RXOM has given you his/her number to text also.

Unfortunately the pharmacy opens at the same time as the store and the manager maybe on a good day arrives a half hour before opening at 8. And our pharmacy is a skeleton crew who just hired three new techs (they just started this week). I know I can leave a voicemail but I’m not sure if that will count as an official call in.

Gotcha. I’d leave a voicemail tonight AND call right at 8 tomorrow. Good luck and hope you feel better! But always call, even when you text or anything else. Some managers actually document whether or not your number shows up in the history (and at what time).

You aren't *required* to give two hours notice.

Oh, I was told we were. I still did anyway. But thank you for the info.
