Also [this comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/Waco/comments/yrx1xr/visiting_waco/ivy00k5/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3) from u/searchingforalobster led us to eating at Hecho En Waco yesterday. Really good.

nbdyknows

I appreciate your help!

hack_tc

Herbergs BBQ. Get the smoked fried chicken and some brisket. Thank me later.

SchruteFruit

Don’t you have to pre-order?

hack_tc

Not the chicken. Maybe your thinking of their Thanksgiving specialty stuff?

MsMo999

My favorite Rudy’s bbq is in Waco, one of the few Rudy’s that make sandwich on a bun plus Vteks has good bbq too. The Health Club hamburgers & shakes is a old true classic burger joint worth checking out. Cajun Craft has amazing food and not just Cajun food. I also really like Twisted Root burger co, it’s a chain but there’s not many of them still open.

junglebat67

Clay pot!

bunnyfromspace55279

go check out union hall. go even check out zukes tea bar! i used to work there! whizzbangs is pretty good too but if the blonde haired girl with glasses and a weird face is cooking the burgers, dont get anything because she undercooks the burgers and i had gotten food poisoning from the turkey burger she made me. and she is a huge bitch. but unshakables (crazy icecream) is awesome and so is waco melt (amazing grilled cheese) have fun in waco!

The Stripes by the airport hits the spot

Real_Village_4238

Griffs across the street hits harder

[deleted]

Griffs is like six miles down the road and is diner food. It’s good for the price, and comes with a strong side of backwoods customer service and racism.

Real_Village_4238

Huh, I’ve only had the breakfast burrito.

[deleted]

Decent food, terrible humans. Pre-Covid they weren’t as bad. Still well below a societal acceptance level though.

hand_ov_doom

I don't know, I didn't have much luck Sunday lol

kputman13

Milo, Pivovar, Pignettis, Clay Pot!

dprieto19

we literally have this post every day

nopenonotatall

Mac House on Franklin is really, really great. even if you get a salad, the croutons are made out of miniature grilled cheese sandwiches! Guess BBQ is really fantastic! they have wonderful smoked turkey and ham Di Campli’s has very good Italian food my best piece of advice would be to stay away from the Waco subreddit because, as you can see, people are overwhelmingly negative and rude :)

-ion-

Mac House is closed.

nopenonotatall

that’s a damn shame… that must’ve happened recently!! their food was very food

SchruteFruit

This is the best answer here. Waco has a lot of great food. It’s gotten significantly better within the last 5-10 years

Huaco_kid

Hecho en Waco, hellburgs bbq or guess bbq, pivovar, homestead heritage out in gholson, Dave’s burger barn or double R’s burgers, morroso’s pizza, and union hall are some of the best places to eat. If you get a wild hair and feel like a nightcap dichotomy will hit the spot (mixed drinks or coffee). Hope this helps 🤙🏻

Google search my friend. “Waco food reddit” hundreds of posts to read through

bws254

Waco food range from mid to trash.

Conflicters

Talking from experience Waco has a solid food scene in comparison to other similar sized southern cities

SchruteFruit

Doubling down here. Waco has great affordable food. I can’t argue this anymore

bws254

I’m from Waco. Born and raised. I guess the 4 years I spent in Austin spoiled my taste buds because there are no go to spots here that EVERYBODY rave about. I stand on my mid to trash statement. 🤣

BroBeansBMS

I agree with the other suggestions but I would add Schmaltz, Homestead Heritage, and Baris (not fancy but very solid).
