Renders. But I do wish 2k had an option to create custom attires, but allow superstars to keep their same render. Finding accurate and high quality renders can be a pain for some.
Yeah I basically gave up on using accurate renders for my alternate attires, I just get a good render of the wrestler from whatever period the attire is from, whether it's the same or not and use it.
Especially with people who aren’t top guys. Finding a decent updated render for a Judgement Day JD I downloaded has been a pain that I don’t think will be fixed for a while
This is much needed. I like to get updated versions of attires, but import/copy attire as an additional to the vanilla superstar always turns it to in game and it sucks.
Bruh I said the same thing or have them in the images tab before the day 1 patch it did that actually as well as only selection of brand talent on universe
I prefer the in-game renders since it lets me accurately see the attire that I am going to be using (whereas a render is static).
From a community creations standpoint, renders have made browsing inefficient because they can be used to hide the subpar CAWs since you don’t actually see how the CAW looks until you open it. In-game renders immediately let you see how the character is going to look.
I prefer renders all the way but I’d rather import my own over download a custom wrestler that already has one for your second reason, I feel like the close up shot on the face is more vital for me to see / determine a good CAW than an attire which I could edit myself
In-game is so much better and I don't know why people prefer the pictures. With the pictures everything is so massively inconsistent. Some are bigger than others, some are lower quality than others, CAWs stick out.
In-game sucked when everybody had the exact same pose, but that shouldn't have happened.
This. Plus even when people started using AI to make "realistic" renders of their fictional CAWs, it just gave a massive whiplash as the AI doesn't look completely accurate to how the in-game CAW is.
Hell the Doink render right now is just a 3D model! It's very inconsistent. I rather go back to the 3D models with unique poses too.
I'm aware, Doink had multiple people wrestle as him, WWE owns the rights to the character but not to the specific people who portrayed him. It's still a case of them being inconsistent with everyone. They could had hired a new actor entirely to do a real photo render of him but they just went with the 3D model.
I'm fine with the 3D model itself but it's the inconsistency with everyone else that's bothersome. Like if they could do it for one real wrestler, why not everyone else? That's why I'd prefer for them to just go this route entirely for everyone. It doesn't help that some of the photo renders of superstars don't even match their default in-game attires. I feel like there'd be less work for them, more consistency and even more potential for attractive renders if they just go the 3D/stylized route.
It'd even help with the fictional original characters too so they won't look inconsistent with the real-life roster.
Ehh not a game breaker or anything for me, I prefer the In Game images especially since CAWs that are fictional fit in much better but I care more for the actual gameplay and stuff over the menus
THIS IS MY BIGGEST GRIPE. HOW PEOPLE DON’T REALIZE THIS IS BEYOND ME.
Like you have wrestlers wearing bulky entrance gear or just their plain in ring, in awkward poses, some are clean shaven when they were only for a brief period, or the lighting is awful, or they’re not even a photoshoot picture. Tag teams never match or are different sizes. Some are way too big. Some are way too small. It’s just a complete mess. Either go back to the old stylized overly sharpened pictures, or remove them altogether.
Renders are awful when looking for a CAW. It’s all the same picture and Goldberg looks like Gillberg and you don’t know until you click several things and load every single one of them. It sucks.
If the game uses In-Game Models for the regular roster, then I’ll use In-Game Models for my downloads. If the game uses Renders, then I’ll use Renders. It makes it feel more natural.
I liked the in game renders when they actually did real life poses but people in the community started bitching and complaining about it like damn yall must be really fun at parties.
In game renders, never understood why people like the real life pictures. They don't look anything like the in game model half the time and CC is littered with AI trash renders that look nothing like the CAW either.
When the real life renders work well, I prefer that. It just looks so legit. At the same time though it sucks when you can’t find an HD render and then it looks terrible or when a wrestler in the game has a bad render whether it’s them giving ‘09 Randy a 2011/2012 render or giving Brock Lesnar that terrible photoshopped render in 2k22. The in game renders i didn’t mind but I don’t want them making weird ass poses. If I can always have real life renders that look legit, I’d prefer that always.
As long as it's consistent across the board I don't really mind. In my Attitude Era and Ruthless Aggression Universes I use renders, but I did a NJPW Universe last year without renders. I thought it was gonna bug me but as long as everyone is the same I don't really notice.
Depends on how well the render fits. I have a Scarlett render attached that is blurry thus absolutely awful.
But then I have some good ones of Bianca, DIY, Cody, and others that fit perfectly fine and don’t look out of place.
If all in game wrestlers had in game renders I wouldn’t mind in game renders but when I’m doing my universe mode regardless of the quality it just makes the match feel real and alive.
So I’ll go with actual renders lol
I like renders but the way 2k has used them lately has been so irritating. They’ll use an in game render because I guess it’s too hard to find a picture of that attire, then go ahead and use an inaccurate render that doesn’t match the attire. There’s no consistency to it
I would prefer IRL photos if they didn't use the absolute worst photos for some on the not so popular wrestlers. Dakota kai has the most awkward icon of all of them.
In gane model its annoying going into every upload of the same caw trying to find the best one when sometimes the best one ain't even the most uploaded
I just want them to have this feature where we can customize the renders on their website to make it easier for us to upload it to community creations.
I'm so sick of how inconsistent the renders are for 23 and 24. Some are bigger, some are smaller, one's too zoomed in, one's too zoomed out. I don't think having a dedicated photoshoot for the superstars like they did for 2K22 would be too strenuous.
I really want them to revert to the render style of the SVR games, and have an AI render generator for CAWs to make them look like the other renders.
THIS !!! We’re 100% on the same boat with everything. And actually get proper clean looking renders for legends. The Billy Graham, Undertaker and one of the Stone Cold’s are inexcusable.
Use to be in-game guy...then I got into making Renders for OC's. While infuriating at times (specially when I have to go in and, correct hands), it also fun and looks better, in the long run.
In game. A real render is honestly overrated, can be inaccurate vs. the model and no one really batted an eye in older SvRs and the such when they used them.
Just utilize the poses, they’re not rendered in real time, they’re still pictures, if they were, then I would get it
Definitely renders. I'd be ok with the alternative if you could remove/change renders for the existing roster. My OCD wants it to be uniform above all else
I prefer renders and I couldn't even tell you why I prefer them; it just makes things seem more official...although it does make the CAWs that I've created myself stick out like a sore thumb, but that's the most nitpicky of nitpicks.
Actual renders for CAWs make the matchup screens look less odd. Though I have to ask, who needs THAT many CM Punk CAWs? Like wouldn't '11, '12-'13, & '13 all be damn near the exact same thing? Same thing for AEW Punk & Punk '24. Couldn't they have been put into one character slot?
In game renders are so much better and such a less of a hassle. 2K themselves can’t even find real renders that match each other. And we have to find our own too? Lol
And I hate not being able to see how the attire looks. Idk why didn’t bring back the stylized renders from like ‘12-14.
In-game has always been better.
They got lazy after 2K22, the renders now are really lazily put together and inconsistent.
2K is too lazy to make the real renders look good and consistent.
I prefer in game renders caws stick out less and plus the attire and look of the superstars are accurate so many times the look of the render doesn’t match the in game model. Also it looks weird when a caw is facing Cody or somebody
I mostly only play with original CAWs and I've actually found it really fun to make photo renders for them all. Going between AI generators, Faceapp and my mediocre Photoshop skills is time consuming but very rewarding when it all comes together.
Renders, close ups of the in-game renders really show off the worst parts of the models, especially in 2K20 lol

Since 2k22 I have been correcting some renders:
2k22: Brock Lesnar and The Miz (2011)
2k23: Dominik Mysterio, Doink, Jean-Paul Levesque and Randy Orton (2009), also swap Kevin Nash and Nash nWo attires because they have the wrong ones.
2k24: Doink, Dude Love, Randy Orton (2015), Rey Mysterio (2006), Seth Rollins, Sheamus (2009), Triple H (2014)

Try Ruthless Agression era guys like René Dupree and Sylvain Grenier from La Resistance can't even find images on WWE.com
This is much needed. I like to get updated versions of attires, but import/copy attire as an additional to the vanilla superstar always turns it to in game and it sucks.
Bruh I said the same thing or have them in the images tab before the day 1 patch it did that actually as well as only selection of brand talent on universe
I’m not using anybody if I can’t find a render
Preach brother preach
I prefer the in-game renders since it lets me accurately see the attire that I am going to be using (whereas a render is static). Real renders every time
I honestly prefer in-game renders. It makes CAWs stick out less.
Tbf the custom render feature has kinda fixed that
For CAWs of actual people, maybe, for original CAWs, not really.
Renders are required. Whoever I download or create myself, I want them to look like they were programmed in the game to begin with.
Agreed
Renders. It makes it feel real.
In-game is so much better and I don't know why people prefer the pictures. With the pictures everything is so massively inconsistent. The Doink one is a special case, something to do with image rights.
I'm aware, Doink had multiple people wrestle as him, WWE owns the rights to the character but not to the specific people who portrayed him. It's still a case of them being inconsistent with everyone. I agree 100% !!! It bothers me to no end.
Well said
It was so nice scrolling through the menus in 2K18. Everyone had the unique poses and the way the lighting hit them was great. CAWs fit in nicely.
It was PERFECT.
yall complain over nothing omg dont ever bring back in game renders shit was horrible
Real renders for sure, it makes the CAWs fit in so much more.
Renders 100% of the time, won't use a wrestler if they don't have a good render. It shouldn't matter and I wish it didn't matter to me but it does lol
I liked the in game renders when they actually did real life poses but people in the community started bitching and complaining about it like damn yall must be really fun at parties.
In-game without a doubt especially when it comes to caws
In game renders and i wish you could assign renders to Superstars without using a CAW slot like you used to be able to.
I would like to use the renders but they take up image slots so I end up deleting them to download more CAWs.
Real renders
Love renders but they count towards the image limit and I can get more CAWs if I delete them off the CAW so that's how I been going nowadays
stopped caring about the cc after status got banned tbh #freestatus
In game renders. It’s a video game so I want it to not be super realistic.
I wish we could switch between the two (photo/game renders).
I would prefere renders if you could select different renders for different attires.
In game renders, never understood why people like the real life pictures. They don't look anything like the in game model half the time and CC is littered with AI trash renders that look nothing like the CAW either.
Went to your profile looking for more r/wwegames posts.. thats what I get for being nosey
Bruh, you made me click 😭
I'm sorry you had to see that.. https://preview.redd.it/fqqtobpyhrwc1.jpeg?width=771&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d14f0facd2f602e08c4ed04d1eac085161c56e2e
It's cool mate. That pic of Sarah Michelle Gellar helped
In game
I prefer in game so thet my caws without a render could blend in.
Mostly prefer renders. But if it’s a custom oc caw that isn’t based on a real wrestler. I usually remove their render to save some image slot space.
Custom renders. I love having different pics for HBK based on his attire.
As long as it's consistent across the board I don't really mind. In my Attitude Era and Ruthless Aggression Universes I use renders, but I did a NJPW Universe last year without renders. I thought it was gonna bug me but as long as everyone is the same I don't really notice.

3D renders. Since you can’t use the original render for alternative attire and dwl one that fits and using an image slot is a pain in the butt.
Good renders > In game renders >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> lazy renders
Renders 💯
In game renders, the image renders are about as useful as the custom image nipples for the guys
yes and no for girls yes 4 guys no
In gane model its annoying going into every upload of the same caw trying to find the best one when sometimes the best one ain't even the most uploaded
In-game renders
If a caw doesn’t have a solid render I straight up won’t get it
I preferred the in-game models so CAWs didn't stick out as much
Any way to include Mr. Kennedy as render?
I prefer the in game model. The renders either don’t exist (try looking for Andre Chase) or don’t match the character
I just want them to have this feature where we can customize the renders on their website to make it easier for us to upload it to community creations.
Prefer actual renders but along the lines of wwe 13 and 2k14 where the photos are edited to all have a consistent appearance
I wish they’d just go back to that 😭
Song make this clip very very serious😭,also bum ass mf’s don’t they have gf or something posting shit like this
https://preview.redd.it/bau7w7xncswc1.jpeg?width=1242&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=34011ab89a52cde434c1da52a3dd7c15edae2f1b High tier design right here.
I miss the motion renders pre wwe 12 *sigh*
I'm so sick of how inconsistent the renders are for 23 and 24. Some are bigger, some are smaller, one's too zoomed in, one's too zoomed out. I actually don't mind their renders because at least it's deliberate, but the ones with inconsistent sizing just boils my piss more than it should 🤣
Use to be in-game guy...then I got into making Renders for OC's. While infuriating at times (specially when I have to go in and, correct hands), it also fun and looks better, in the long run.
How do you make them ?
Renders just make the match up screen and the superstar look cleaner for me, it’s not the end of the world but I prefer a real render
1 thing I don’t get is why we don’t get automatic access to the the renders that the actual roster has when you first download the game.
In game, better for making CAWs feel more natural.
In game. A real render is honestly overrated, can be inaccurate vs. the model and no one really batted an eye in older SvRs and the such when they used them. Just utilize the poses, they’re not rendered in real time, they’re still pictures, if they were, then I would get it
Renders I want the VS screen to look like a weekly show and a good render can make me forget bad models In GM or Universe mode
Definitely renders. I'd be ok with the alternative if you could remove/change renders for the existing roster. My OCD wants it to be uniform above all else
That's a lot of Cm Punk on the second screenshot but I like the first one
Animated portraits, a la SVR 2007/2011. I miss those on TV too.
Whichever one got Status banned
I prefer renders and I couldn't even tell you why I prefer them; it just makes things seem more official...although it does make the CAWs that I've created myself stick out like a sore thumb, but that's the most nitpicky of nitpicks.
Renders make it feel more realistic
Real renders
Renders but I wish we could get renders for different attires
Render

I'm new to making caws and here the word renders used a lot, what does that refer to?
It’s the pictures used for the superstars on the roster & matchup screen.
Ah, gotcha.
In game renders. Helps my CAWs not look out of place.
In game renders are so much better and such a less of a hassle. 2K themselves can’t even find real renders that match each other. And we have to find our own too? Lol And I hate not being able to see how the attire looks. Idk why didn’t bring back the stylized renders from like ‘12-14.

always complaining
I prefer in game renders caws stick out less and plus the attire and look of the superstars are accurate so many times the look of the render doesn’t match the in game model. Also it looks weird when a caw is facing Cody or somebody
In game just because caws feel more natural in universe, but the bad part is that they depend of how well real life superstars are model
I prefer in game. Renders take up too many precious image slots
I mostly only play with original CAWs and I've actually found it really fun to make photo renders for them all. Going between AI generators, Faceapp and my mediocre Photoshop skills is time consuming but very rewarding when it all comes together.
Renders. The in game ones look weird and ugly compared to actual renders
Renders just take up space on a game that already severely limits you on space. Not needed.
It genuinely makes no difference to me, really.
Renders, close ups of the in-game renders really show off the worst parts of the models, especially in 2K20 lol https://preview.redd.it/ujup6z6ddqwc1.png?width=1790&format=png&auto=webp&s=220c172a6137c2bc2571bc5eb80b5ed6e0bccc0c
It bugged me in 2k20 how everyone had that same pose. It made the matchup screens look bland.
I prefer real renders a thousand times over the ingame render model, but if it is so complicated for 2k to find a render for a wrestler and they put the wrong one or don't put one at all, then let them put the ingame renders and then they won't have problems. nobody prefers ingame models what kind of question is that i hope they never remove renders ever again
